by Jean Bentley, posted May 11th 2011 9:00AM
The National Receptionists Association has declared today National Receptionists Day, a holiday to show our appreciation for the "front line personnel responsible for making a positive first impression for the company. Receptionists are also the person at the front desk, information desk, concierge, telephone operators, maitre d', and many others who are the first to greet and welcome customers, clients and the public to the company."In honor of the holiday, here's a list of AOL TV's five favorite TV receptionists. Did your favorite make the list? Any egregious snubs? Share your thoughts in the comments.
Erin, 'The Office'
Like Pam before her, Erin is Dunder Mifflin's loyal receptionist and number one Michael Scott confidant. She might not be the brightest bulb, but she's willing to learn.

Bosses Day 2010: The Six Worst TV Bosses of All-Time
by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 15th 2010 8:00AM
Tomorrow is National Bosses Day but since it falls on a Saturday, today is probably the day to celebrate. So if you're a boss, you should take the afternoon off -- you've earned it. If you're an employee, here's to hoping that your boss takes the rest of the day off so you can surf the web and play trashcan basketball all day. (Also, take up a collection and buy a card or one of those "World's Greatest Boss" mugs during lunch.)
Last year we listed our favorite TV bosses, a list that included '30 Rock's' Jack Donaghy, Michael Scott from 'The Office,' Montgomery Burns from 'The Simpsons,' and Dr. Lisa Cuddy from 'House.' It wasn't really a "best" list, though, since some of those bosses are really awful.
So this year, we're going to list the worst TV bosses of all time -- bosses so bad you wouldn't wish them on your enemies.
New Shows on DVD for August 17, 2010
by Elizabeth Chan, posted Aug 17th 2010 8:00AM
Every day, millions of Americans struggle with the balance of raising a family with their careers. Imagine if you've got two jobs -- the second as a serial killer. Bloody stressful, right?Dexter Morgan grappled with that conundrum during the entire fourth season of the critically aclaimed Showtime series 'Dexter,' which is definitely a killer DVD to own. This season featured John Lithgow as Arthur Mitchell, who can commiserate with Dexter since he's both a family man and the Trinity serial killer.
Other honorable mentions for DVD's hitting store shelves today are the final season of 'Ugly Betty' and 'Friday Night Lights.'

'Ugly Betty' Star Eric Mabius Hops Across Pond for BBC Drama
by Laura Prudom, posted Apr 21st 2010 3:15PM
They say that the grass is always greener on the other side, which may explain why 'Ugly Betty' alum Eric Mabius is following in his character's footsteps and heading across the pond for the (less) sunny climes of Britain. According to Deadline, Mabius has been tapped to star in a high-profile new drama series for the UK's main broadcasting channel, BBC One, where dramas such as 'Doctor Who,' 'Merlin' and the original 'Life on Mars' found popularity.
The new project is titled 'Outcasts,' a sci-fi series set in 2040 after a biological catastrophe wipes humanity from the face of the Earth, forcing 50,000 survivors to start a new colony on a life-supporting planet in a neighboring solar system. (Think Battlestar Galactica without the Cylons and with much posher accents.)
Vanessa Williams Laments the End of 'Ugly Betty' (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Apr 19th 2010 1:30PM
On 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC), Vanessa Williams lamented the end of 'Ugly Betty' after four seasons, and said that the tight-knit cast had a difficult time leaving the show. ABC officially canceled the show in January due to declining ratings. "It was tough, I mean, because we spent four years together," Williams said. "We did not want to leave. And our last read-through -- none of us wanted to leave the table. None of us wanted to finish the words that we were saying. It was an extraordinary group of people."

With apologies to the Beatles, this past week 'Ugly Betty' said goodbye, and 'Treme' said hello.Patricia Chui, Mike Hess, Denise Warner and Kelly Woo discuss the premiere of HBO's new drama 'Treme' -- can it live up to its predecessor, 'The Wire'? Does it make us know what it means to miss New Orleans?
And we bid farewell to 'Ugly Betty' with a look at how Betty's story ended (or, started anew) on the series finale, including the ambiguous ending with Daniel. Plus we throw in our favorite series finales ever, just for fun, because we're givers that way.

'Ugly Betty' - 'Hello Goodbye' Recap (Series Finale)
by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 15th 2010 12:18AM

(S04E20) A really wonderful thing happened at the end of the series finale of 'Ugly Betty.' Betty Suarez got a new beginning. In the tradition of many television series finales, there were many loose ends tied up, and because 'Betty' was more comedy than drama, it only stood to reason that they were mostly happy endings.
All they needed was Liza Minnelli to sing about it, but alas, there was no musical number to sum it all up. However, there was plenty of character development and plot turns. For more on that and how even Halston got a fashionable farewell, read on after the jump. However, if you don't want to know, consider this a SPOILER ALERT!
What to Watch: April 14
by Kim Potts, posted Apr 14th 2010 6:00AM
'Ugly Betty' (10PM, ABC) series finaleAfter four seasons and Emmy, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Peabody award wins, 'Ugly Betty' joins that big TV graveyard in the sky with this series finale. The title is 'Hello Goodbye,' as Betty prepares to big adieu to her job, and life, in New York and begin a new job (and life) in London. But first, she has to tell Daniel the news, which will bring about a surprising reaction -- and revelation -- from her 'Mode' mag main man. Elsewhere, Justin and Bobby try to convince Hilda to move into Manhattan; Amanda turns Betty's congrats/going away party into an event for Halston (her dog); and Marc wonders if he'll ever manage to have a lasting relationship. We're probably not spoiling anything to say there are happy endings all around for Betty and company, and yes, that even includes Wilhelmina.
Top 20 Funniest 'Ugly Betty' Quotes

What will we miss most about 'Ugly Betty'? (Besides Betty Suarez's once-dreadful fashion blunders, now a thing of the past, thanks to four years among New York's fashion elite.) The witty repartee and casual cruelty of Mode players like uber-bitch Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams), sharp-tongued assistant editor Marc St. James (Michael Urie) and bitchy bimbo Amanda (Becki Newton). Betty (America Ferrera) got off quite a few clever retorts of her own, and how could we not include her boss (and mate for life?) Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius), who often opened his mouth without thinking, to hilarious results. Or what about her always-fabulous nephew, Justin (Marc Indelicato)?

'Ugly Betty's' Fashion Evolution
by Kelly Woo, posted Apr 13th 2010 2:00PM

An 'Ugly' duckling is ready to transform -- and sing her swan song.
In the series finale of 'Ugly Betty' (Wed., April 14 at 10PM ET on ABC), Betty Suarez has come a long way. She started out as possibly the biggest fashion "don't" in the history of television. But, after four years, she's matured, become a capable editor at Mode magazine and evolved her style. She's definitely 'Ugly' no more.
We took a look back at Betty's transformation, from that infamously tragic Guadalajara poncho to her shiny new look (no braces, new hairstyle).
What to Watch: April 12 - 18

Glee - Tuesday April 13, 9:25 pm, Global/Fox
It's back! The all-singing all-dancing insanity that 'Idol' used to justify keeping Michael Lynche on the show is back for sweeps and everyone is very excited (except me, because I am the one person in the universe who doesn't see the appeal). Will is finally single, but instead of jumping Emma's bones like he's been waiting his whole life to do it, he takes some time to think about his new situation. And just when Rachel and Finn seemed to be getting started on something real, she gets sidetracked by a fellow called Jesse St. James. Oh honey, no! Any variation on Jesse James is bad news. Trust.

A Gun Shot on 'Ugly Betty' (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Apr 8th 2010 1:50AM
It's high drama on 'Ugly Betty' (Wed., 10PM ET on ABC). The show is ending its last season, and things are getting, well, pretty tense. In the latest episode, Tyler (Neal Bledsoe) finds a gun and uses it to confront his mom. Tyler's mother Claire (Judith Light) gave him away when he was a child, and Tyler is understandably (if excessively) irritated at all of this. "Everything was better without you," he says to his mother. And then he points the gun at her.Watch the video after the jump.
