MTV is Bringing Back 'Unplugged' (But Did it Ever Really Go Away?)
by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 5th 2010 4:02PM
MTV has announced that they are bringing back the popular '90s series 'Unplugged,' the concert series where performers and bands play music without any electronics, in a more cozy, small setting. If I remember correctly it wasn't always electric-free, as if everyone was using acoustic guitars and bongos. I remember electric guitars and keyboards were sometimes used. The network (along with Starburst) is making a big push with the show on MTV, VH1, and CMT. We'll see concerts with everyone from Adam Lambert and The Script to Reba McIntire and Phoenix. While the network is promoting this as a big "return" for the show, I'm not sure if completely went away. It's not like we haven't seen the show in ten years. Just last year they had 'Unplugged' concerts by people like Adele and Vampire Weekend.
The show will also be seen online at the web sites for the various networks. Earlier this year they dropped the "music" from their logo.
Carnie Wilson's reality show will be on... GSN?
by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 21st 2009 12:05PM
Reality is not relative when it comes to television. Reality television, my friends, is here to stay. So when I let you know that GSN will air Carnie Wilson: Unstapled, a new reality show starring the former singer from Wilson Phillips and the host of The Newlywed Game, you shouldn't be surprised. At least not about another celebrity reality program. The fact that it's going to be on GSN -- that's the Game Show Network -- however, that's a bit of a shocker.GSN has fallen in love with Carnie Wilson. Kelly Goode, GSN senior vice president for original programming and development, gushed about CW, saying, "Carnie is incredibly funny and earthy. ... She's a personality the viewers have fallen in love with. And she's a hit on The Newlywed Game.
The Police to perform on MTV Unplugged - VIDEO
by Adam Finley, posted May 31st 2007 4:02PM
Are you a fan of the rock band The Police and musical instruments that aren't plugged in? Then I have good news for you.
The Police, who are currently on a reunion tour, will be performing an all-acoustic set for MTV Unplugged somewhere in Miami on July 13, according to Fox News. There's no specific word yet on just which venue the performance will take place, but fans will no doubt be able to catch the performance on MTV (and perhaps also VH1 and CMT). The article further states that an album could result from the Unplugged performance, which should make fans very happy, especially those fans who can't afford tickets.
