Ava Spies on Kevin's Christmas on 'Up All Night' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 8th 2011 1:30AM
'Up All Night' - 'First Christmas'Blythe Danner returned as Reagan's mother for the Christmas installment of 'Up All Night' (Wed., 8PM ET on NBC). She arrived to find her daughter in full OCD mode trying to outdo the neighbor's Christmas decorating in order to get the same reaction from her daughter that they did.

She was also trying to get into the Christmas spirit in a way that her mother never did during her own childhood, though by the end of the episode the pair had reconciled their differences over a stolen Santa and reindeer they simply could not get up on the roof.

Maya Rudolph and Kelly Ripa Have an 'Oprah-Off' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Dec 2nd 2011 3:00PM
Maya Rudolph's been trying to tell people for months that her 'Up All Night' character Ava, who just so happens to be a flight talk show host, isn't a re-imagining of her famous 'SNL' Oprah impression. But Friday on 'Live!' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), at the behest of guest-host Neil Patrick Harris, Rudolph and Kelly Ripa broke out their dueling Oprah impersonations for an 'Oprah-Off.'

Rudolph started off the competition by announcing a fake audience giveaway that would make Snooki proud. "Today, we're giving away ... pickles!!" she exclaimed, as the audience cheered wildly. Ripa followed up with, "You get a pickle, and you get a pickle and you get a pickle," and got some feedback from Rudolph on her impression.

Reagan Shows Chris Her 'Better' Ways to Do Things on 'Up All Night' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 24th 2011 1:00AM
'Up All Night' - 'Week Off'When Ava's show went on a forced production break for a week, it sounded like a great impromptu vacation for Reagan on 'Up All Night' (Wed., 8PM ET on NBC). She could kick back, relax and get to spend quality time with her baby. Sounds ideal!

Well not, apparently, if you're a bit of a control freak. When she's trying to make a smooth sailing ship out of the show, that keeps her occupied and apparently keeps her need to organize and make things "better" in check. Out of work, she's completely out of control.

'Up All Night' Stays Up Longer With 2 Additional Episodes

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 21st 2011 6:15PM
Up All NightIt looks like NBC is far more enthusiastic about 'Up All Night' than viewers are. The Peacock network has ordered two more episodes of the freshman comedy, bringing its total number up to 24 for the season, Deadline reports.

The Will Arnett/Christina Applegate comedy has been a modest performer for NBC (a recent episode scored 4.8 million viewers and a 1.9 in the adults 18-49 demo) but compared to the rest of NBC's floundering schedule, consistency in the ratings is probably an attractive prospect right now.

The move is the latest vote of confidence for the show, which is being moved from Wednesdays at 8.30PM ET -- where it currently goes up against 'X Factor,' 'Survivor' and 'Suburgatory' -- to 9.30PM on Thursdays, where it will have 'The Office' as a lead-in, starting Jan. 12.

NBC Announces 2012 Midseason Schedule

by Chris Harnick, posted Nov 14th 2011 6:21PM
NBC Midseason ScheduleNBC is doing a big midseason shuffle, putting '30 Rock' in the 'Community' timeslot, a move that could spell the end for the quirky cult-hit comedy. What else is changing? Well, quite a bit.

'30 Rock' returns to the Peacock on Thurs., Jan. 12 at 8PM ET, knocking 'Community' off NBC's schedule completely. New drama 'The Firm' takes the Thursdays, 10PM ET slot now held by 'Prime Suspect' and 'Whitney' swaps time slots with 'Up All Night.'

'Smash' hits NBC on Mon., Feb. 6 at 10PM ET, moving 'Rock Center' to Wednesdays at 9PM ET. However, those aren't the only changes. Check out the full schedule below for all the details.

NBC made no mention of 'Community,' 'Prime Suspect,' 'Awake,' 'Bent,' Betty White's 'Off Their Rockers' or 'BFFs' in their announcement. Per Vulture: NBC says 'Community' will return to the schedule, but no date has been given.

Christina Applegate Is Giving the 'Up All Night' Writers Tips on Writing a New Mom (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 7th 2011 5:00PM
The cast of 'Up All Night' are pretty much all raising young children in their personal lives: Will Arnett, Maya Rudolph, Nick Cannon, and Christina Applegate are all new-ish parents. Applegate stopped by 'The View,' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) where she talked about the similarities between her real parenting life and her character Reagan's, and explained that she's given tips to the show's writers based on her own experience.

Before she even agreed to do the show, Applegate told the producers she needed special provisions to account for her daughter. She had a nursery built on-set, and her daughter spends a lot of time there while they're shooting. "They had to built me a room for her ... it's got her toys and a crib, and she takes her naps there and walks around," Applegate said.

Reagan Butts Heads With Her Mother on 'Up All Night' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 3rd 2011 12:30AM
'Up All Night' - 'Parents'To say that Reagan has a strained relationship with her mother is putting it lightly. And yet, even after all these years of marriage, Chris didn't seem to get it. So he surprised her by allowing her parents to visit on the latest 'Up All Night' (Wed., 8PM ET on NBC).

We got a little bit of insight into Reagan's awkward teen years, as she discovered that her mother had written a psychology book about it. Needless to say, Reagan isn't exactly thrilled to have her most embarrassing years chronicled in a book ... with pictures!

Nick Cannon On the 'Up All Night' Cast: 'Everybody Has New Kids on That Show' (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Nov 2nd 2011 6:00PM
Just as the main characters in his new show 'Up All Night' are trying to stay hip after having kids, Nick Cannon told 'Good Day LA' (weekdays, 9AM PT on Fox) that he's determined to do the same after having twins with Mariah Carey. As if to immediately disprove his point, he led the hosts in an impromptu, awkward drum session. "It's like 'Stomp the Yard' up in here!" he joked.

Jillian Barberie told Cannon that she saw his 'Up All Night' co-star Maya Rudolph out with her kids, and noted that although her character Ava struggles to relate to children, Rudolph seems to be living a life more like Christina Applegate's character Reagan.

"We all are," Cannon said. "Everybody has new kids on that show. It's crazy." Rudolph had her third child with director Paul Thomas Anderson in July, Will Arnett and Amy Poehler just had their second child last year and Christina Applegate and boyfriend Martyn LeNoble had her first child in January.

Molly ShannonMolly Shannon is heading to 'Up All Night.'

The 'Saturday Night Live' veteran will guest star as Nancy, a single mom and "incompetent" associate producer on Ava's talk show. Hopefully that means Shannon and Maya Rudolph will have plenty of scenes together.

According to TV Guide, Shannon makes her debut on the Nov. 23 episode. Her role could become recurring.

Shannon will pop on 'The Middle' as Frankie Heck's sister and recently appeared as a co-host on 'The Talk.'

Take a Trip Back in Time to Watch Amy's Birth on 'Up All Night' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 20th 2011 1:00AM
'Up All Night' - 'Birth'Without any sort of framing sequence to explain why, 'Up All Night' (Wed., 8PM ET on NBC) decided to take us back to Reagan's pregnancy and the birth of little Amy. It was a little odd to suddenly be taken on this journey down memory lane, but it was a pleasant enough journey.

We got to see how uptight and particular Reagan was about wanting every step of the birth to go according to the plan, but for the most part it was the same kind of standard stuff you see on every sitcom birth episode.

Reagan Bonds With a Former Rival Over Destroying a Stroller on 'Up All Night' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 13th 2011 6:55AM
'Up All Night' - 'Mr. Bob's Toddler Kaleidoscope''Up All Night' (Wed., 8PM ET on NBC) is still juggling these two seemingly disparate worlds, but with this week's episode that balancing act suddenly made sense. It's the same balancing act Reagan is trying to have with her life.

She wants to be the perfect mother, but she's also a driven career woman who wants to be able to go out and party. Just so long as she's home in time for the family before Amy goes to bed.

It's the same struggle working mothers deal with every day. They also deal with some stay-at-home moms being judgmental because of their "choice" to work.

Maya Rudolph Swears She Isn't Doing an Oprah Impression on 'Up All Night' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 12th 2011 3:30PM
On 'Up All Night,' Maya Rudolph plays a flighty talk show host named Ava who's drawn a bevy of comparisons to Oprah Winfrey. Rudolph, who was known for her Oprah impersonation in her 'SNL' days, told 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC) that despite the similarities, Ava isn't Oprah.

Rudolph explained that while some may see Ava as an O-clone, it's not what she's trying to do with the character. "People always think I'm doing Oprah I guess, because I did Oprah on the show. You definitely have to have cajones to be a talk show host. I don't think I could personally pull it off being myself, I like being characters more. I'm infusing her with this regal-ness that I like to play."
