Is the Rivalry Between Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy on 'Dancing With the Stars' Real?
by Michael Maloney, posted Sep 20th 2011 8:00AM
Forget about rivalries between celebrities on this season of 'Dancing With the Stars' -- there's definitely a sense of competition between Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his kid brother Val, who's one of the show's new pro dancers.Val showed that the gloves (or rather the shirts) are off when he made his entrance on last night's premiere by descending the stairs bare-chested.
Prior to dancing the cha-cha with his celebrity partner, model/TV host Elisabetta Canalis, Val said that he'd given his brother ten seasons to win the mirrorball trophy, but that since he hasn't taken it home, well, Val was just going to have to do it himself. (Ouch!)
Is this just some brotherly banter to rile up the audience or is Val trying to dethrone Maks as the "bad boy of the ballroom?"
'DWTS' Backstage Report: Who's Going Home First? Also, Julianne Hough is Returning!

It's difficult to predict just who's going to be eliminated on tonight's results show of 'Dancing With the Stars.'The scores ranged from 14 for pro basketball player Ron Artest (a.k.a. Metta World Peace) to 22 each for singer Chynna Phillips and 'All My Children' actor J.R. Martinez.
Since Artest's pro partner, Peta Murgatroyd, is also new to the show it's not like she's bringing in a lot of votes. Still, pro athletes have always done well on 'DWTS.'
How did the stars and pro dancers think they did? AOL TV was on the post-show press line to get reactions.

It looks like Chaz Bono isn't the only 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant giving it his all in rehearsals ahead of the Season 13 premiere on Sept. 19.New photos posted on the show's Facebook page give a sneak peek of just how seriously his fellow contestants are taking the challenge of competing on the ABC show.
The current bookies' favorite to win, actress and model Elisabetta Canalis Tweeted over the holiday weekend that "they r killin'me with rehearsals every day," but she and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy -- Maks' little brother (and doppelgänger) -- look fit and relaxed as they go through their moves.
Meanhwile, three other couples have got their game faces on as they as they learn the moves for their new dance routines.
