A Different Kind of Love Story: Little Mosque on the Prairie
by Annette Bourdeau, posted Feb 14th 2011 9:00AM
Audiences have spent four seasons watching the quiet romance between 'Little Mosque on the Prairie''s Amaar and Rayyan build. Now, they get to enjoy the big payoff -- in season five, the two crazy kids finally get together.Amaar and Rayyan, played by Zaib Shaikh and Sitara Hewitt, didn't have a typical courtship. The two devout Muslim characters aren't allowed to touch until they're married -- even after they're engaged. Naturally, hijinks ensue. (Like when Rayyan falls asleep while the two are bed shopping and Amaar has to wake her up without touching her.)
The entire season leads up to the big wedding day, when the two lovebirds will finally get some physical contact (don't worry -- nothing too racy). Just in time for Valentine's Day, we caught up with Shaikh and Hewitt to reflect on Amaar and Rayyan's restrained road to love. Awwww.
Right Now On Cinematical

The folks at our sister site, Cinematical, are working hard to give you news and reviews of the best -- and worst -- the silver screen has to offer. Here are some of their musings on the latest blockbusters, indies, and everything in between:- 'Twilight' star, Kristen Stewart, is appearing in a new film called, 'The Yellow Handkerchief.' But that, of course, doesn't mean that she gets to avoid questions about her next project, 'Breaking Dawn,' which is the final installment in the 'Twilight' saga.
- A new Martin Scorsese film should be cause for excitement, right? So why do I feel so apathetic about 'Shutter Island?' Cinematical reviews the new Leonardo DiCaprio film, here.
- As a woman who Loved 'Live Free or Die Hard' because of the copious amount of crap that blew up, but also really kind of wants to see 'Valentine's Day,' I have no idea what women want when it comes to the movies. Cinematical tries to figure it out.
- My favorite Serious Slo-Mo Walk? It has to be when the crew walks together in 'Reservoir Dogs.' What's yours?
- I'm honestly kind of surprised that it's taken this long to get a Kurt Cobain biopic, but now that we have one in the works, who should play the title character?
Garry Marshall and Martha Stewart Take a Shower Together? (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 17th 2010 10:26PM
While soap stones are definitely more appealing than panty roses, the atmosphere on 'The Martha Stewart Show' (weekdays, syndicated) still managed to turn awkward today. While making the stones with Martha Stewart, Garry Marshall asked if they'd be taking a shower together. Hey, we can think of worse people to take a shower with than Marshall. At least the 'Valentine's Day' director would make us laugh and maybe even get us an intro to Julia Roberts or Hector Elizondo (not in the shower, though; that could get crowded).
But Stewart and Marshall in a shower together? We're really sorry about that visual. Really.

Oprah is Tracy Morgan's Valentine (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 16th 2010 6:57AM
Tracy Morgan has a thing going with Oprah Winfrey. In fact, on 'Late Show With David Letterman' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), he revealed that the talk show queen was his valentine. But alas, all is not well."We're going through some problems," said Morgan. "Every time I turn around, she on the phone with Gail. Get off the phone with Gail!"
Yeah, what up with that, Oprah?!

The folks at our sister site, Cinematical, are working hard to give you news and reviews of the best -- and worst -- the silver screen has to offer. Here are some of their musings on the latest blockbusters, indies, and everything in between:- Even though Sandra Bullock is nominated for an Academy Award for her role in 'The Blind Side,' it certainly doesn't mean that she can't make mistakes. Cinematical discusses Bullock's Oscar nom as well as her simultaneous Razzie nomination for 'All about Steve.'
- I haven't heard good things about the new film 'Valentine's Day,' although as a sucker for star-studded ensemble casts, that certainly isn't going to stop me from seeing it. However, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to make a franchise out of the thing.
- Cinematical reviews 'Twelve' and calls it "a very special episode of 'Gossip Girl,'" which is fitting, as it stars 'Gossip Girl''s Chace Crawford.
- I'm not sure that the fact that Benecio Del Toro reportedly mumbles his way through 'Wolfman' makes me want to see it.
- Look out world, there's a new Coppola in town: Gia Coppola, Francis Ford's granddaughter, is taking a stab at directing.
'Community' - 'Communication Studies' Recap
by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 12th 2010 8:34AM

(S01E16) Suddenly I want to spend at least 40 more minutes in the world of 'Community' after tonight's episode. I wonder if those 40 minutes will come back to haunt our dear friend later?
Jeff and Abed tore it up with one of the most bizarre drunk montages I've ever seen, culminating with Abed in the absolute best "aftermath" position I've ever seen. And Jeff did it all to try and make things right with Britta again. Try as they might, those two just can't seem to get their awkward feelings for one another to stop interfering with their relationship as "just-friends."
With the Valentine's Day dance looming, Troy and Pierce tried to regain some of their own dignity early in the episode, only to lose it completely by the end of it. Surprisingly, despite his "skills" on the dance floor, Chang either has no dignity to lose, or has so much that it's impervious to anything he does.
Patrick Dempsey Gets (Out of) a Speeding Ticket (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 12th 2010 5:46AM
When actors are on the talk show circuit promoting a movie, it must be challenging coming up with funny stories for every show. Fortunately for Patrick Dempsey – out and about promoting 'Valentine's Day' – he had a new story drop right in his lap.Seems he got stopped for speeding the morning he was scheduled to go on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12:05AM ET on ABC). Turns out it was a female cop who, apparently, was a fan and ended up not giving him a ticket. Not only that, but her gruff male partner appeared to be a fan, too. Interesting.

'Grey's Anatomy' - 'Valentine's Day Massacre' Recap
by Michael Pascua, posted Feb 12th 2010 2:42AM

(S06E14) It's Valentine's Day on 'Grey's Anatomy' and to celebrate, we have a restaurant roof collapse. The show claims to have the biggest surgery ever, which turns out to be an arm reattachment, with the arm temporarily being attached to a leg. While it's interesting and I'm sure a rare surgery, it still doesn't compare to separating conjoined twins or being impaled to a car in my book.
While everyone struggles with the multiple surgeries, miraculously, both Arizona and Callie have time to dilly-dally. Arizona tries her hand in playing Cupid on Valentine's, pairing up Bailey with Dr. Warren. Callie gets to check up on Sloan with her free time. What happened to the Callie who used to snap arms back into place?
'Parks and Recreation' - 'Galentine's Day' Recap
by Kona Gallagher, posted Feb 12th 2010 1:16AM
(S02E16) Ron Swanson nailed it tonight. I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with Justin (Justin Theroux), and Swanson summed it up perfectly: he's a tourist. Justin is really only interested in stories. It's been bugging me the entire time he's been on the show, because he seems like a perfectly nice guy in some scenes and a total jerk in others -- but now it all comes together. Also nailing it? Andy's band. I not only loved his songs (I would totally make them my Valentine's soundtrack), but I enjoyed his befuddlement with the entire situation and his frustration with not being able to tell if the gig was a success or not, due to the lack of ladies flashing him.
Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel Are New Laverne and Shirley (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Feb 10th 2010 3:00PM
Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel developed a friendship while working together on 'Valentine's Day' and now consider themselves BFFs. The actresses talked about their close relationship while appearing together on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC), and agreed with a comment by co-star Jamie Foxx that "they're the new Laverne and Shirley."But, who considers themselves Laverne, and which one is Shirley? Watch the clip to find out.

A 'Laverne and Shirley' Remake for the Big Screen?
by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 10th 2010 10:37AM
Schlemiel! Schlimazel! Are you ready to see America's most beloved Milwaukee girls on the make on the big screen? According to director Garry Marshall, creator of 'Happy Days,' he has hopes to put the spinoff from that show, the successful 'Laverne & Shirley' to the movies. As with all the other hopes for silver screen adaptations, this one comes with some fanciful casting attached, too.Garry was on 'Extra' promoting his new romantic comedy 'Valentine's Day' and revealed the 'Laverne & Shirley' dream casting: Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel. That's right. This pair of Shotz Brewery factory employees -- who live in a basement apartment in 1960 Milwaukee and struggle to find the men of their dreams -- would be played by two of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. Is that a cynical way of looking at it? Yes, it is.
Jennifer Garner Gets Defiled by a Dolphin (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 10th 2010 3:35AM
We've heard that it's quite magical swimming with dolphins, and apparently, the dolphins feel that way, too. In fact, the story Jennifer Garner told on 'Late Show With David Letterman' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS) explains a lot about why dolphins are so friendly with humans. It seems that Garner was training for a guest spot on 'Fantasy Island,' and one particular dolphin got up close and personal with her. Hmmm ... wonder if there's any dolphins in her new movie, 'Valentine's Day.'

A Naked Moment on 'How I Met Your Mother' (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 9th 2010 1:00AM
A heart-shaped box of chocolates can be used for many things: To tell someone you love them. To cheer someone up who's down in the dumps. Or to cover up your private parts when you're sitting naked in a room expecting one person but then another person shows up!Yes, friends, just look at this clip as a public service announcement from the folks at 'How I Met Your Mother' (Mon., 8PM on CBS). Or would that be pubic service announcement? At any rate, it never hurts to have a box of chocolates around for just such occasions.

The folks at our sister site Cinematical are working hard to give you news and reviews of the best -- and worst -- the silver screen has to offer. Here are some of their musings on the latest blockbusters, indies, and everything in between:- This isn't a spoiler, because I honestly know nothing about 'Dear John,' but just based on the trailer, I have a feeling that something bad happens to John-- perhaps it's the fact that it's based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks. Is this the next 'The Notebook'? Cinematical has their review here.
- Speaking of lost loves, Cinematical Seven has Romantic Tragedies.
- Eric Dane is in the upcoming film, 'Valentine's Day,' and the character he plays is gay, although you wouldn't know that from the trailer. Cinematical discusses the ugly art of de-gaying films.
- Would you watch a 'Shattered Glass' remake about film critics who plagarize? Here's the pitch.
- American Idol alum, Carrie Underwood is set to star in her first film, 'Soul Surfer,' about female surfer, Bethany Hamilton, who had her arm bitten off by a shark. Underwood plays a church youth group leader.
Jessica Biel Eats Chocolate-Covered Cricket on 'Jay Leno' (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 4th 2010 5:00AM
You know how Jay Leno has that "Earn Your Plug" segment on 'The Jay Leno Show' (weeknights, 10PM ET on NBC)? Jessica Biel definitely earned her plug on last night's show. Oh, the chocolate-covered strawberries were a treat, and even the chocolate-covered pizza wasn't so bad. But when she fearlessly ate the chocolate-covered cricket that Jay brought out, he was downright impressed!
Catch Biel in the star-studded 'Valentine's Day,' in theaters Feb. 12.
