Vanessa Williams Does Song and Dance in Lingerie (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Apr 21st 2010 12:30PM
In honor of Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday, which took place last month, Vanessa Williams does a risque song and dance number on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated), peeling off her outfit and performing in lingerie, then removing that to reveal an even skimpier undergarment underneath.Kelly Ripa and a somewhat flustered Regis Philbin then greet Williams after her performance. "Vanessa, while you were taking it off, Regis was taking it off too," Ripa said.

Vanessa Williams Laments the End of 'Ugly Betty' (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Apr 19th 2010 1:30PM
On 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC), Vanessa Williams lamented the end of 'Ugly Betty' after four seasons, and said that the tight-knit cast had a difficult time leaving the show. ABC officially canceled the show in January due to declining ratings. "It was tough, I mean, because we spent four years together," Williams said. "We did not want to leave. And our last read-through -- none of us wanted to leave the table. None of us wanted to finish the words that we were saying. It was an extraordinary group of people."

What to Watch: April 12 - 18
by Stephanie Earp, posted Apr 12th 2010 3:23AM

Glee - Tuesday April 13, 9:25 pm, Global/Fox
It's back! The all-singing all-dancing insanity that 'Idol' used to justify keeping Michael Lynche on the show is back for sweeps and everyone is very excited (except me, because I am the one person in the universe who doesn't see the appeal). Will is finally single, but instead of jumping Emma's bones like he's been waiting his whole life to do it, he takes some time to think about his new situation. And just when Rachel and Finn seemed to be getting started on something real, she gets sidetracked by a fellow called Jesse St. James. Oh honey, no! Any variation on Jesse James is bad news. Trust.
A Gun Shot on 'Ugly Betty' (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Apr 8th 2010 1:50AM
It's high drama on 'Ugly Betty' (Wed., 10PM ET on ABC). The show is ending its last season, and things are getting, well, pretty tense. In the latest episode, Tyler (Neal Bledsoe) finds a gun and uses it to confront his mom. Tyler's mother Claire (Judith Light) gave him away when he was a child, and Tyler is understandably (if excessively) irritated at all of this. "Everything was better without you," he says to his mother. And then he points the gun at her.Watch the video after the jump.
Vanessa Williams Bashes 'The Blind Side' on 'The View' (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Mar 8th 2010 1:30PM
'The Blind Side' may have earned several Academy Award nominations and a Best Actress win for Sandra Bullock last night, but Vanessa Williams is clearly no fan of the movie. Williams said on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated) that the film, which depicts a homeless African-American youngster who is adopted by an affluent white family, does little to improve race relations. Williams argued that film only reinforces the notion that African-Americans need whites in order to succeed. "Here's another white family that has saved the day," she said, calling the film "another black story" in which "a white person comes in and lifts them up."

Brian Stokes Mitchell to appear on Ugly Betty
by Brad Trechak, posted Jan 27th 2010 10:03AM
Despite low ratings, Ugly Betty is pushing ownward. Now, Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell will have a potentially recurring role on Ugly Betty as a former lover of Wilhelmia (played by Vanessa Williams) who is apparently a Joe Six Pack rather than an elegant charmer.Seriously, I've seen Mr. Stokes Mitchell (or it is just Mr. Mitchell?) perform on Broadway and he's very good. His voice has this unmistakable deep, dulcet tone that would translate well to a television romantic lead. Mitchell has appeared on television before as Dr. Jackpot Jackson in Trapper John, M.D.
'Ugly Betty' Casts Vanessa Williams' Brother, Plus Our Favorite Real-Life TV Siblings
by Laura Prudom, posted Dec 8th 2009 3:24PM
Wilhelmina Slater just can't catch a break. Not only does she have a conniving daughter, a dead lover and Daniel Meade's ineptitude to deal with, now she's set to discover that she has a long-lost twin ... well, kind of.
The Ausiello Files is reporting that 'Ugly Betty''s resident devil in Prada is in for a shock in early 2010 when she discovers that she's the subject of a drag queen impersonation act, ingeniously named Wilhediva Hater. But that's not even the best part -- Ausiello's sources say that the man behind Willie's fabulous doppelganger is none other than Vanessa Williams' real-life brother, Chris Williams. There's nothing like keeping it in the family.
In light of this fierce casting, we at Inside TV have taken it upon ourselves to compile a list of our favorite real-life sibling co-stars to have graced the small screen in recent years:
Wilhelmina's Unexpected Visitor on 'Ugly Betty' (VIDEO)
by Elizabeth Chan, posted Dec 7th 2009 9:37AM
After losing Isabella's editor-in-chief role to her rival, a dejected Wilhelmina went to soak away her sorrows, alone ,during her photo shoot trip to the Bahamas. To her and everyone's surprise, Connor emerges from the water and back into her arms as the perfect consolation gift, during this scene from last week's episode of 'Ugly Betty.'

The sweet and bittersweet Daytime Emmys
by Allison Waldman, posted Aug 31st 2009 9:29AM
History was made at the Daytime Emmys last night... twice. The Bold and the Beautiful won as the top Daytime Drama and the hosts of The View finally were winners. Good for B&B, the last of the half-hour soaps, coming off a terrific year. And it was great for the ladies of The View, who were probably starting to feel like getting the gold was an impossible dream. Unfortunately, they weren't there -- not one of them -- to accept. However, amid the joyful wins and a jolly 40th anniversary salute to Sesame Street, there was a sad quality to the Daytime Emmys. Perhaps it was the over-arching reality that daytime TV is struggling, a point made clear when Betty White hosted a farewell to Guiding Light. No offense to the delightful Ms. White, but the salute was lackluster and hardly worthy of a show that has been broadcasting for 72 years! The cast appeared to receive a final ovation, but nobody spoke for the show.
Weirdness in the Daytime Emmys nominations
by Allison Waldman, posted May 15th 2009 10:32AM

They have feuds. They have babies (at least one of them). They have daily debates. But the ladies of The View have no sway with the Daytime Emmys. Well, that's not entirely correct. The ladies themselves, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, received an Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Talk Show host(s), but their show was snubbed.
Whether it's deemed a Talk Show/Entertainment or Talk Show/Information, it's not deemed worthy. But The View's missing nomination is merely one of the many oddities of the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy nominations. Something is really bizarre in the batch of noms.
Ugly Betty: The Kids Are Alright
by Erin Martell, posted May 15th 2008 11:41PM

(S02E17) Wili's moment of triumph arrived, and it was just as glorious as I expected it to be. La Slater is officially back at Mode as Creative Director, and all is right with the Ugly Betty world. This episode was all about couples. Hilda pursued Coach Diaz, Gio pursued Betty, and Marc and Amanda did what they do best--torture Betty. The "Betty Whorez" e-mail was one of those small Mode moments that I haven't seen in a while.

Ugly Betty: Betty's Baby Bump
by Erin Martell, posted May 9th 2008 1:50AM

(S02E16) Things are finally coming into place on Ugly Betty. Wili officially declared war on the Meades, Betty dealt with serious baby drama, and Hilda got back into the dating game (almost). If this keeps up, the show will be back to its old self--Wili scheming, Betty working with Daniel against her, and an end to the Suarez family mourning period. Sounds good to me!

Ugly Betty: Burning Questions
by Erin Martell, posted May 2nd 2008 9:02AM

(S02E15) You can add "glamourtunity" and "preg-nasty" to the Ugly Betty lexicon. While this episode gave us some cute moments and clever dialogue, I felt like it was light on plot. Yes, we got Renee's storyline out of the way, but the rest of it was build-up to the season's bigger issues. I'm ready for things to start happening.

Ugly Betty: Twenty-Four Candles
by Erin Martell, posted Apr 25th 2008 12:00AM

(S02E14) That look says it all, doesn't it? Betty spent part of her birthday with fellow dreamer Gio, and came home to Henry with a lot on her mind. The reappearance of Charlie reminded us that Henry's baby is coming soon. There's a difficult decision in Betty's future. Who will she choose, Henry or Gio?

Four stars for Barbara Walters Oscar Special
by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 14th 2008 11:40AM
As the Academy Award presentation approaches, that can only mean one thing -- time for a new Barbara Walters special. Yes, yes, what matters most before the big show isn't the red carpet and the fashions, it's who will Barbara be interviewing for her annual Oscar edition? Ms. Walters has four biggies lined up for the Sunday, February 24th (7:00-8:00 p.m. ET) broadcast. Oscar nominee Ellen Page, star of Juno; Indiana Jones, himself, Harrison Ford; Ugly Betty diva, Vanessa Williams; and Hannah Montana/teen queen Miley Cyrus. It's an eclectic group, to say the least, but then, that's Baba Wawa's formula for success, is it not? After all, this is her 27th straight year doing a pre-Oscar special.TV Squad Hot Topics
