The Daily Show: June 23, 2008 - VIDEOS

"Indecision 2008": The Daily Show hasn't really mocked Barack Obama quite as heavily as the likes of John McCain or Hillary Clinton. In fact, they have made fun of the media's wild, paranoid speculation about Obama more than Obama himself. It was good to see them pick on him a bit for his rather presumptuous faux-Presidential seal, which was quickly pulled and called a "one-time" thing. I loved how most of the audience was too nervous to mock their man. "You know... You're allowed to laugh at him." Also, Barack Obama seems to have made a bit of a flip-flop recently, turning his back on public finance and calling it corrupt, despite showing his support earlier in the race. I hope he flip-flops more if it means seeing John Oliver as Matthew Lesko again.Universal Pictures presents: Wanted

Wow, a bullet curving right past someone's [Angelina Jolie's] head and rustling her hair. I saw that when it was in The Matrix. Wow, Angelina Jolie is a bad ass. I saw that in Tomb Raider and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Ooh, James McAvoy looks unsure of himself. I saw that in The Last King of Scotland. A movie about assassins? I saw that in Grosse Pointe Blank and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Morgan Freeman is wise and sage. I saw that in, uh, everything Morgan Freeman has ever been in.
But I'll give you one good reason I'll see this movie anyway: James McAvoy. That man is on fire.

TNT adds another drama to its schedule

This one is about a troubled paramedic working
in my hometown of Portland, Oregon. The execs at TNT really liked the pilot and have ordered 12 more episodes, to be
shot this spring. Not sure if they actually shoot this thing in Portland but, if so, I'm totally going on a Tom Everett
Scott hunt. He plays the lead character, described as "flawed' and "three-dimensional." Can't we all use
those words to describe ourselves? The series, called Saved, made the cut among three new dramas that TNT was
considering adding to its summer line-up. Saved is the third original drama for TNT, which found huge success
last year with The Closer and Wanted.Wanted: Pilot

On Sunday evening, TNT kicked off its second entry into the police drama genre with Wanted, starring Gary Cole (The Brady Bunch, The West Wing) as Conrad "Connie" Rose and Saliva's lead singer Josey Scott (who plays Rodney Gronbeck), among others. Up front, I've got to say that if what Bob Sassone wrote about yesterday is true, then I'm definitely worried about the life of this show on television, because the premiere wasn't necessarily something to write home about.
