'The City' Is Canceled, According to Whitney Port

by Kelly Woo, posted Oct 25th 2010 4:20PM
Whitney Port'The City's' bright lights are shutting down. Star Whitney Port confirmed the rumors that the the 'Hills' spin-off has been canceled.

According to Racked, the 25-year-old fashion designer gave the news to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show Monday morning. "As of right now it doesn't really look like we're doing it anymore," Port said. She also denied any possibility that the show might move from MTV to another network.

'The City,' which debuted in December 2008, followed Port, a friend and co-worker of Lauren Conrad, as she moved from Los Angeles to New York City. After half a season of low ratings, however, the show was revamped. Characters were dropped, while new faces were added. The second season focused more on Port's career as a young fashion designer, but did not fare much better in viewership.

Kelly Cutrone Berates Whitney Over Betrayal on 'City' Season Finale (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 14th 2010 5:00AM
Kelly Berates Whitney Over Betrayal on 'City' Season FinaleCareer Rule No. 1 for Whitney Port has always been: Never get on Kelly Cutrone's bad side. Will she ever learn? On the season finale of 'The City' (Tue., 10:30PM ET on MTV), Kelly takes Whitney to task after Whit meets with competing fashion PR agent Alison Brod about representing her clothing line.

"I told you I was talking to her, but I haven't hired her," Whitney explains to Kelly, the People's Revolution honcho and Whitney's former boss.

"OK, well, she is saying that you've left People's Revolution, and that you're joining her firm," says Kelly. "I haven't ever been employed by [you]. I don't know how this can go from me helping you to me getting fired ... It makes you look like an idiot, you realize that, right? ... I don't need to defend my agency against a girl who wears pink."

When Whitney tries apologizing, Kelly says she's playing the "guilt card," which is, apparently, only a "time consumer."

Roxy Olin Won't Live with Whitney Port, Moves Out on 'The City' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 7th 2010 7:40AM
Roxy Olin Leaves Roommate Whitney Port on 'The City'Recently on 'The City' (Tue., 10:30PM ET on MTV), a styling mishap set roommates and coworkers Whitney Port and Roxy Olin at odds, and led to a big fight. Whit said she was "constantly disappointed," and Roxy said she wanted to move out.

It was no idle threat. Whitney came home to find her roommate packing her bags. "I can't really take the tension here," Roxy said. "I thought you would be like happier that I was leaving."

Whitney responded, "I just feel like we're leaving things on such a weird note ... No hard feelings, I guess." As Roxy slid out the door, she told Whitney she'd call later. Doubtful. Can these friends (since high school) patch things up?

Whitney and Roxy Have a Cat Fight on 'The City' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jun 30th 2010 2:45AM
Whitney and Roxy Have a Cat Fight on 'The City'It's girl vs. girl on 'The City' (Tue., 10:30PM ET on MTV). Apparently, our glamorous young women are running into a little trouble. Whitney wants to "style" a hot new rock band, but she feels that Roxy isn't obeying her every whim. Naturally -- this being 'The City' -- the whole thing inevitably leads to conflict.

The rock band makes a last minute wardrobe change, and Whitney blames her friend. Roxy attempts to explain that the clothes she was given weren't appropriate, but that's not going to stop a good fight! The two girls confront each other in the hallway behind the concert, and Whitney starts making empty threats. Specifically, she threatens to get Roxy in trouble with their boss.

Oh, Whitney. Don't you realize that you ladies are both stuck on an MTV reality show? Neither one of you is going away, no matter how many fights you get into. So maybe just learn to deal with each other.

Stealing Models on 'The City'Trouble ensued on 'The City' (Tue., 10:30PM ET on MTV) when Whitney Port and Roxy Olin went to Miami to put on a runway show. During the model auditions, Roxy noticed a rival designer casting one of their models. Whitney just had to intervene.

"I noticed she's trying on your stuff," said Whitney. "But I know you're [on the runway] right before us, so it's probably not possible for us to share any models. And I know I saw her first, so I kinda have dibs."

The designer simply chuckled and strutted off. Said Whitney: "What's her problem? This bitch keeps stealing our models!"

'America's Next Top Model' - 'Big Hair Day' Recap

by Michael Pascua, posted Apr 21st 2010 9:00PM
(S14E07) I thought I had reached my quota of hair growing out of a woman's breasts this season with 'Project Runway,' but 'America's Next Top Model' just trumped Amy's hairy breast outfit by miles. This week, between the drama at the house and a drag Tyra Banks, the girls had to make full dresses made out of hair look good. Sadly, most of them looked horrible, but Tyra and her judging panel were not looking at the same photos as I was.

'The Hills' Final Season Trailer: Drugs, Plastic Surgery and New Romances

by Chris Harnick, posted Mar 30th 2010 2:40PM
The HillsAll good things must come to an end, even 'The Hills.'

Ladies and gentlemen, what we have here is the trailer for the final season of the MTV reality hit.

We've watched them love, live and grow -- and in Heidi Montag's case get loads of plastic surgery. This trailer opens with footage from simple times, times before plastic surgery and sex tape rumors. That alone was enough to make us nostalgic for the days of Whitney and Lauren sitting around the offices of Teen Vogue, but then -- BAM! -- new footage that got us excited (don't judge).

Check out the video after the jump.

Audrina Patridge Returning to 'The Hills'

by Rebecca Paiement, posted Dec 8th 2009 1:00PM
'The Hills' is returning for another season on MTV -- and now, so is co-star Audrina Patrdige.

This week, a representative for Patridge told US Magazine that she can "officially confirm that [the reality star] will appear in the sixth season of 'The Hills.'" This comes after weeks of negotiations and back-and-forths with MTV about Partridge's supposed upcoming spin-off.

In a May interview on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, Patridge said that she was planning to leave 'The Hills,' the reality show that made her famous, to set out on her own. Apparently, MTV had gifted Patridge a series akin to co-star Whitney Port's 'The City.'

Taylor Jacobson Leaving Rachel Zoe: Who Should Replace Her?

by Rebecca Paiement, posted Nov 9th 2009 1:00PM
Taylor JacobsonIf and when the 'Rachel Zoe Project' resumes on Bravo, it will have to be without assistant Taylor Jacobson.

PEOPLE is reporting that Zoe has fired Jacobson, effective immediately. Zoe's rep, Carrie Gordon, has since confirmed the news.

Why Jacobson was let go remains to be seen, although, given how often she complained about her job on the show, many would say she had it coming.

Still, Jacobson insists that the decision was solely her own. Hoping to begin her own fashion styling business, Jacobson's Twitter account and emails to colleagues, leaked to Fashionista, reflect her enthusiasm to get out on her own. "I am saddened and exhilarated at the same time to announce my departure," she wrote. "After much thought and consideration, I have decided to take the challenging leap and go off and style on my own."

Whitney Port on Her New Job, Roommate and Fashion Line in Season 2 of 'The City'

by Kim Potts, posted Oct 5th 2009 5:33PM
Whitney PortHer pal Lauren Conrad has left 'The Hills' for (relatively) more realistic pastures, but Whitney Port is about to continue her reality TV stint on new episodes of her 'Hills' spin-off, 'The City' (Tue., 10:30PM ET on MTV). Whitney's still in New York City pursuing her fashion industry dreams, but she's doing it with a new job -- sorta -- a new apartment, a new roommate and, via a string of blind dates, new love interests.

Port, who made her New York Fashion Week debut as a designer earlier this month, talked to AOL TV about these latest developments as well as what everyone really wants to know -- how often will she be running into her old frenemy, Olivia Palermo?

5 Questions With: Whitney Port

by Katy Kroll, posted Dec 24th 2008 6:00AM
Whitney Port"I don't know if you can really top 'The Hills.' It has such an insane amount of drama."

Amid the constant drama of MTV's glossy reality show 'The Hills,' Whitney Port has long lurked in the background as Lauren Conrad's trusted co-worker and confidante, preferring to seek not the spotlight, but (gasp) an actual career in the fashion industry.

Now it's finally Port's time to shine on 'The City,' a spin-off that follows the fashionista to New York City after she lands a job with Diane von Furstenberg and falls in with a whole new crew. But leaving L.A. -- and LC -- behind hasn't been her only recent adventure; she's also launched her own clothing line and shown up on HBO's 'Entourage.'

With her new series premiering on Dec. 29, Port took time out of her hectic schedule to chat with us about guilty pleasures, whether or not 'The Hills' is scripted and the challenges of navigating 'The City.'
