by Oliver Miller, posted Apr 25th 2010 10:45PM
An Angry Dad on 'Wife Swap'An Angry Dad on 'Wife Swap'Making your kids into pop stars can be hard; and it can be hard on the kids too. On 'Wife Swap' (Fri., 8PM ET on ABC), a mother visits a family where a father with some anger issues tries to yell his kids into stardom. Dad Joey Fulco wants his children to be famous singers. But his parenting strategy is to just tell his kids that they're doing everything wrong. "They have to be scared when they walk in this house!" he says.

Work Vs. Play Fight on 'Wife Swap'Tempers are flaring on 'Wife Swap' (Fri., 8 PM on ABC). On the latest episode, pampered New Jersey housewife Ro Drago went to stay with the Cameron family in Alabama. The Camerons are a family of hard workers, and in the course of the episode, Drago learned that the children haven't seen their friends in over a year -- they're too busy working all the time.

What to Watch: April 2

by Kim Potts, posted Apr 2nd 2010 6:00AM
'Wife Swap' (8PM, ABC) season 6 premiere
This may be one of the wackier swaps in the show's history, but the point is still made in the end, that each of the families can learn something valuable from its counterpart. The swappers: New Jersey mom Ro, who has three children -- three real children -- and 15 "reborn babies," $5,000 plastic dolls that have heartbeats, and, thanks to Ro's obsession, closets full of clothes. Ro and her three teens are also super slackers, while husband Jay is the sole breadwinner for his lounging family. Ro does a switcheroo with Alabama mom Teresa, who runs a coffee shop and hot dog cart with husband Dave. Actually, the couple gets by -- barely, thanks to the economy and the floundering coffee shop -- with a lot of help from their pre-teen sons, who are forced to help their parents run their businesses so frequently that the boys haven't even been able to hang out with their friends for more than a year. "Friends are overrated," says Dave.

Top Stories of 2009: Reality scandals

by Michael Pascua, posted Dec 22nd 2009 10:01AM
The Salahis greet president Obama
It's interesting when one takes the time to look back back at 2009, several scandals that occurred this year were related to television. There were four big reality scandals that occurred in 2009, most of them happening in the second half of the year. They have stayed fresh in pop culture buzz.

This list doesn't count Jon & Kate's drama, all the injuries on Survivor, So You Think You Can Dance, and Dancing with the Stars, Chima's explosion on Big Brother, or Adam Lambert's sexual preferences. Those events pale in comparison to the five scandals listed.

VH1 Swoops Up 'Basketball Wives': Is It the Next 'Real Housewives'?

by Michael D. Ayers, posted Dec 8th 2009 2:00PM
Ever wonder what it's like behind the scenes for a professional basketball player's wife? Well, here's your chance to find out.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, VH1 is answering that call with a new series called 'Basketball Wives,' putting Shaquille O'Neal's wife Shaunie on center court.

Joining her will be the wives and girlfriends of NBA stars Eric Williams, Antoine Walker, Jermaine O'Neal and Udonis Haslem. Yet not in the mix is probably the most famous NBA wife: 'Desperate Housewives' star Eva Longoria Parker, who is married to San Antonio Spurs star point guard Tony Parker.

Some of those reality show participants deserve Reality Hell

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 24th 2009 11:03AM
Reality HellWhen reality shows first started to gain a lot of traction after Survivor, I had a tendency to at least sample most of what's on the air. Now, that would be an impossible task. The airwaves are overstuffed with so much reality crap that it's getting harder and harder to find any of them worth watching.

Even worse is the caliber of contestants. After early reality "stars" gained notoriety and temporary fame, suddenly any obnoxious bozo who wants attention is jumping into reality television. Now the show's as much about the ridiculous contestants as it is about the premise. It is in regards to this that E!s new take on reality holds promise.

Reality Hell airs Sundays at 10:30 PM ET on E!. We're two episodes in; the premiere tackled modeling shows, while this week's episode took on wife swapping. So far, they're one for two.

(8PM & 9PM, ABC) 5th season finales
In this corner: It's the Schults family, whose members love Halloween so much that they cover their walls with fake blood and operate a creepy haunted house.

And in the other 'Wife Swap' corner: The Smith fam, led by 63-year-old dad Allen and 54-year-old mom Christine, two no-nonsense parents who don't allow their teens to watch TV or surf the Internet ... so you can imagine the friction that ensues when the families' moms swap households for a week.

Meanwhile, 'Supernanny' Jo is tackling some sticky family issues of her own, as she ties to calm down four violent, fighting siblings and the church employee dad who's all about spanking vs. timeouts.

ABC gives early renewals to 12 shows

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Apr 23rd 2009 5:05PM
ABCIt's that time of year again when network executives are having meetings after meetings to decide which shows we should be watching next season. The CW announced the renewal of six of its shows about two months ago but besides that announcement, news of renewals have been rare when compared to news of cancellations.

Today, ABC sent out a press release confirming the twelve of its series would return for the 2009-2010 season. As you'll see after the jump, it was pretty much a given that those series would get another year either due to their ratings or the low cost of production compared to the money the show brings in with sponsors and ads.

It's the beginning of the end, as the show kicks off a string of twist-filled new episodes that will lead to its series finale later this spring.

First up, Michael and Sara stick out their thumbs and hitchhike their way to Miami, while Michael's bro Linc meets up with Mama Scofield, who is not only not dead, but who lets Linc in on her plans to take over The Company – and issues her little man a warning that he should not interfere with said plan.

Elsewhere, T-Bag and the traitorous Self are hot on the trail of Scylla, and are going to be quite surprised when they find out who is in possession of the oh-so-sought-after Company database of secrets.

(8PM, ABC) 100th episode
Boob tubers, you have only yourselves to blame for this episode, in which two former 'Wife Swap' families – chosen by viewers who voted at ABC.com – face off in a new switcheroo.

The wieners, er, winners: The science-minded, storm-chasing Heene fam from Colorado, who swap moms with the Floridian Silvers, whose psychic mom believes she can talk to the dead and control the weather, while her husband and kids aspire to be rock stars.

As if that scenario weren't rife enough with the possibility of smackdowns aplenty, the episode will also feature the first post-swap table meeting between the familes' children.

Why does that reality show contestant look so familiar? - VIDEO

the amazing race mike whiteJust when you thought everyone you knew, ever, had endured their 15 minutes on some reality show, you've been hoodwinked. It's no longer just the lady in accounts payable who you spotted on Cheaters or your brother's friend whose family appeared on Wife Swap. These days, it's low-profile celebs, too, who are seeking a 16th minute, and no longer exclusively via humiliation on VH1.

It's the beginning of season 4.5, but it's also the beginning of the end for the show, as tonight's installment kicks off a string of 10 new episodes that will lead to the series finale.

But (Star)buck up, 'BSG' devoted, because the remaining episodes promise to be epic (producers have hinted that several of them may even be super-sized), beginning with tonight's revelation of the final Cylon.

Yep, no waiting around for this big reveal, as the identity of the fifth Cylon happens while Adama and the Colonial crew ponder the condition of Earth and get more than a little frakkin' freaked out over their shocking discovery.

Look who's stalking! That person who stole Molly's journal and is now leaving threatening, uh, sandwiches, in her kitchen?

The creep's identity is revealed tonight, but not until Molly's life becomes even more complicated. When the threatening turkey sammy is discovered, Molly has to call the police, who question the men in her life: new boyfriend Zach and Kenny, her ex-hubby and recent sex partner.

If Molly spills the truth about her drunken night with Kenny, her relationship with Zach may be kaput ... if she doesn't, the stalker may get away. Guess she'll just have to deal with it all by re-enacting a couple of iconic scenes from 'The Godfather' and 'Dirty Harry.'
