Tina and Robin Make Sweet Treats for the World Series of Poker on 'Cupcake Wars' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 24th 2011 5:30PM
Cupcake displays for the World Series of Poker on 'Cupcake Wars'The challenge Tina and Robin faced on 'Cupcake Wars' (Tuesdays, 8PM on Food Network) was to make treats delicious enough to impress people who make a living by hiding their enthusiasm. That is, they each had to create a 1,000-cupcake display for the World Series of Poker.

Things started well enough in the idea stage. Tina planned for four tiers, each one looking like a poker chip and adorned with glitz and four aces across the top. Robin had a similar idea, to create a poker table with tiers that looked like chips and "fanning across the very top, how about the best hand you could have, would be a royal flush," she said.

Does anyone in Hollywood not play professional poker?

by Danny Gallagher, posted Oct 13th 2009 8:01PM
I'm starting to wonder if TV and movie stars playing poker is more than just an interesting trend. Maybe it's a requirement.

Jason Alexander recently popped up on my TV, not in a Seinfeld rerun or his recent appearance on Curb Your Enthusiasm but in the most recent World Series of Poker. And it didn't look as though he was there playing with his own money. He appeared to have his own sponsor and everything.

Here is ESPN's coverage of Alexander's elimination from the tournament. Watch for the fan at the end who accidentally calls him George. It's cringe-tastic.

More poker player reality stars?

by Michael Pascua, posted Jul 23rd 2009 7:08PM
Tiffany Michelle, professional poker playerIt was inevitable: the stereotype of the poker player is being tested on another reality show. First there was Jean-Robert on Survivor. More recently America watched Annie Duke shrewdly translate her poker prowess as business savvy on the Celebrity Apprentice.

Now rumors are flying in that two poker players will be on The Amazing Race. Poker players Maria Ho and Tiffany Michelle have been spotted around LAX's airport ready to race around the world. What is it about poker players that are so appealing? Can the ability to bluff succeed with foreigners?

The Five: Best sports to watch on TV

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 27th 2006 9:00AM

MLB logo1. Baseball: This sport was really made for television. It's slower than other team sports, perfect for those warm summer nights, a cold drink in your hand, maybe a breeze coming in the window as you watch. And unlike other team sports, the pace gives the viewer time to figure out their own strategies for the game (hockey and basketball are too fast, and football has too many players doing too many things at once for the average Joe).
