Ray Thrown Out Naked for Cheating With Olympia Dukakis on 'Bored to Death' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 15th 2011 6:30AM
'Bored to Death' - 'Two Large Pearls and a Gold Bar'A little tip from this week's 'Bored to Death' (Mon., 9PM ET on HBO). If you're going to cheat on your significant other, try not to do it in the house you share with her. When Ray got caught cheating with an older woman -- Olympia Dukakis, no less -- he was thrown out of the house immediately.

Unfortunately for Ray, and the people out in the streets, he was in the middle of a bubble bath which "immediately" came down, and so he found himself running around outside wearing nothing but a swim cap. Luckily, George is there to help a friend in need, so Ray won't end up homeless. It also keeps him closer so he can continue going on wacky adventures with George and Jonathan, which is really what we're tuning in for every week.

Zach Galifianakis Shows up on 'Law & Order' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 8th 2010 5:22AM
Saturday Night Live, Digital Short, Zach Galifianakis 'Saturday Night Live' (Sat., 11:30PM ET on NBC) has been a bit lackluster lately, but Zach Galifianakis managed to bring some funny back into the show as host this week. In fact, he did that just by showing up.

In the digital short, Galifianakis showed up on various TV shows like 'Law & Order,' '30 Rock,' and 'The Dr. Oz Show.' He's probably been on a lot of others and we just haven't noticed him.

Zach Galifianakis Joins the Kissing Family on 'SNL' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 8th 2010 3:20AM
Saturday Night Live, Kissing Family, Zach GalifianakisYou haven't seen awkward and uncomfortable until you've seen the kissing family on 'Saturday Night Live.' It doesn't matter what the relationship is -- mom, son, brother, uncle, you name it. This family swaps spit like they're in a no-holds-barred celebrity sex tape.

This week's show
saw host Zach Galifianakis, a cute little puppy, and even a dead guy getting a piece of the action. They say dogs have less germs in their mouths than humans. Still, we hope there was some heavy-duty Listerine close by.

'Saturday Night Live' - 'Zach Galifianakis/Vampire Weekend' Recap

by Annie Wu, posted Mar 7th 2010 1:45PM
zach galifianakis vampire weekend
(S35E16) This was definitely one of the weirder installments of 'Saturday Night Live' in a while, but for fans of Zach Galifianakis, it was a real treat. It's very rare that the entire tone of the evening so perfectly fits the host. A lot of hosts, be they athletes or singers or professional actors, use 'SNL' as a platform for showcasing other talents that they have (or think they have) and that can often lead to strange, near unwatchable territory.

Galifianakis knows where's his strong points are and confidently played those up all through the episode. He is not at his best with cue card-heavy parts, but rather when he forces the audience to bask in his glorious, beardy, unsettling presence. So we got a lot of that. A lot. Response to this episode will probably be highly divided (well, more so than other weeks) but, speaking as a long-time fan of Galifianakis, it worked.

Zach Galifianakis on 'Saturday Night Live': Clip Highlights (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 7th 2010 11:19AM
Saturday Night Live, Zach GalifianakisZach Galifianakis is super hot right now, and he supplied some comedy relief as host of 'Saturday Night Live' this week. He's ridiculously funny, just by showing up. In fact, some of his funniest bits on the show involved hanging out in the background of various TV shows like 'Law & Order,' '30 Rock,' and 'The Dr. Oz Show.'

The kissing family also made an appearance (at a funeral, no less), and one of our favorite talk shows, 'What Up With That?,' was back with actor Paul Rudd, as well as the always ignored Lindsey Buckingham.

Zach Galifianakis: 'George Clooney Says I'm Not Beautiful' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 5th 2010 6:34AM
Jimmy Fallon, Zach GalifianakisAwww ... you are so beautiful, Zach Galifianakis, and don't you believe anything that grumpy old George Clooney tells you. You're both beautiful in your own way. There, all better?

And Jimmy Fallon is right. You've had a great year, and 'The Hangover' was by far the funniest thing to appear on the big screen in 2009.

As for that bit you and Fallon did on 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' (weeknights, 12:35AM ET on NBC)? We're already attempting to erase that from the hard drive of our brains. You big, beautiful teddy bear.

The Twelve Days of Festivus: Four webby series

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 20th 2009 11:22AM
Felicia DayOn the fourth day of Festivus, TV gave to me... four webby series.

There's probably more original content being created for the internet than there even is for television. A lot of that is your neighbor sitting in his basement in front of his webcam seeing how many croutons he can shove in his mouth in thirty seconds, but there are places to find great original content, many times on par with what you'll see on television.

Syfy's Sanctuary is a show that began as a web series and has since become a successful TV series. But many web series live and thrive on the web, and belong only there.

A lot of our favorite celebrities have turned to this unrestricted format to create gems, like Will Ferrell's modern classic "The Landlord" from a few years back, or even last year's sensational Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog that brought Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, Simon Helberg and Felicia Day into a mad scientist musical world created by Joss Whedon. Even the networks have gotten in on the action, creating original content for their own websites.

My Morning Jacket to Appear on 'American Dad'

by Michael D. Ayers, posted Nov 11th 2009 4:00PM
My Morning Jacket American DadFox's 'American Dad' is set to rock -- literally.

Kentucky's finest southern-rock band, My Morning Jacket, will appear on the Nov. 22 episode of the Seth MacFarlane comedy. The episode will be titled 'My Morning Straightjacket,' and will feature not only the band in cartoon form (a first!), but six MMJ songs and guest voiceovers from the likes of Zach Galifianakis, who will play a MMJ super-fan.

"Honestly, it was an organic evolution," said 'American Dad' co-creator Mike Barker in a statement. " I was at Bonnaroo in the summer of 2008, watching MMJ play their guts out in the rain at 4 a.m. when the idea for the episode struck me. I pitched the idea to the guys the next day and thankfully they were on board."

Bored to Death boasts an impressive cast - are you watching?

by Jane Boursaw, posted Sep 28th 2009 11:35AM
Bored to Death - Jason Schwartzman and Ted DansonI've caught the first two episodes of HBO's Bored to Death, and while I'm not totally in love with the show (yet), the cast is impressive enough to keep me coming back for more.

The three main characters are Jonathan Ames (Jason Schwartzman), a struggling writer who leads a double life as a private detective; George Christopher (Ted Danson), the editor of Edition magazine and Jonathan's sometimes employer (and pot supplier); and Ray Hueston (Zach Galifianakis), a talented cartoonist who's Jonathan's best friend.

There's plenty of street creds in the other players, too, including Kristen Wiig, Jenny Slate, Heather Burns, Olivia Thirlby, and Trieste Kelly Dunn. Based on all of these folks, as well as the quirky film noir vibe, it seems like a can't-miss TV series. Let's put it this way: I've enjoyed the first two episodes, and will tune in for more to see where it goes.

Anyone else watching Bored to Death?

Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! S3ASON THR33 on DVD

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 26th 2009 5:04PM
Tim and Eric Awesome Shwo Great JobSeason four of Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! has been over for months, and "Season Cinco," as season five has been dubbed on the pair's Web site, has not yet started. But fans can bide their time with the Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! S3ASON THR33, which was out earlier this month.

In season three, Tim and Eric took a step up. The shows got funnier and tighter, without losing any of the scattershot, what-the-hell-am-I-looking-at feel. They upped the ante on creepy and uncomfortable with the "Child Showcase" sketch, featuring Patton Oswalt and Rainn Wilson as children singing inappropriate songs while an approving host looks on. It's an immediately unsettling image (though nothing really tops Chippy for that so far), a seamless special effect that puts Oswalt's and Wilson's heads on a kid's body.

Zach Galifianakis and Robin Williams are HBO's funny guys - TCA Report

by Joel Keller, posted Jul 31st 2009 11:53AM
Robin Williams and Zach GalifianakisI wanted to write about this panel last night. However, the cumulative effects of my afternoon sojourn to In-n-Out Burger to have a double-double and fries, both "animal style," and the evening Food Network party that included a roasted pig, gourmet grilled cheese and other chef-created delicacies, caused me to collapse into a food coma at around 11 PM.

But l couldn't let two of HBO's panels go without comment. One was for the new comedy Bored to Death, based on the writings of Jonathan Ames. Joining Ames on the panel were Jason Schwartzman (via satellite), Ted Danson, and the hot comedian of the moment, Zach Galifianakis. The other was Robin Williams, who was promoting his new HBO special, Robin Williams: Weapons of Self-Destruction, which is set to air in December.

It wasn't surprising that Galifianakis' weird sense of humor dominated his panel; anyone who's seen him on the Comedians of Comedy tour or in The Hangover would have expected that. The surprise was that, in his panel, Williams was more reflective and pensive than manic.
