America's terrorist watch list just hit the 1,000,000 mark. Yay! Sort of. Not really. Jon pointed out that Nelson Mandela was only recently removed from the watch list. He said it in a way like Mandela had no business being on the watch list on the first place, which I thought was a bit unfair. Sure, striking Mandela from the list was a move that probably should have happened over twenty years ago and his motivation was anti-apartheid, but once a guy has been the leader of a sabotage against his own government and military, that kind of makes the big boys of other countries nervous about having him around too. I'm just saying.NBC wants a piece of American Idol
by Anna Johns, posted Feb 11th 2006 1:19PM
Now that we're five seasons into
American Idol, NBC has realized that it's a ratings powerhouse. And
it wants in on some of that action. So, NBC is bringing another European singing contest across the pond (American
Idol was based on the British Pop Idol). This time, it's the Eurovision Song Contest, which
launched the careers of Celine Dion and ABBA. Yeah, it's been around for a bit. 50 years, to be exact.NBC will begin its search for talent online to find singers from each state. I'm not sure if it's the same thing as this online talent competition that NBC has planned for this summer because NBC does plan to air most of the Eurovision Song Contest on its network. Just like on Idol, voting is up to the viewers. Let's just hope they don't make Celine a host.
