'Kimmel': Are the Other 'X Factor' Judges Ganging Up on Simon Cowell? (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 13th 2011 3:00AM
'The X Factor' judges, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'In the past two weeks, Simon Cowell has gone from three to one act on 'The X Factor.' In both instances, it came down to the women on the panel to decide. The first week, they eliminated Drew. This week, Nicole Scherzinger threw it to the public vote and Rachel Crow was out.

"Do you guys feel like you ganged up on Simon's contestants specifically because you wanted to win this competition?" Jimmy Kimmel asked the other three judges on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC). All of them, of course, vehemently denied it.

'Once Upon a Time' Season 1, Episode 7 Recap: A Huntsman's Broken Heart (VIDEO)

A kiss can be a very powerful thing in the world of 'Once Upon a Time' -- we've seen kisses bestow memories, save lives and this week (however inadvertently), even end them.

We were warned that death would strike during the midseason finale, but I was curious to see how someone might get away with murder in Storybrooke while presumably being able to avoid punishment.

This week's episode gave us a suitably fantastical answer to that quandary, utilizing the magic of fairytale land without needing to implicate anyone in the crime.

'The Great Big American Auction': Old Money Becomes Big Money (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 9th 2011 2:00AM
'The Great Big American Auction' specialTy Pennington is looking to bring auctions to prime time with the special 'The Great Big American Auction' (Thu., 10PM ET on ABC). But an auction is only as good as the pieces it fetches, and the best pieces are often discovered purely by accident.

Felicia Batey came in with a ten-cent purchase from her grandmother of an old frame with a pair of photographs in it. It was what was hidden inside, behind the pictures, that was the true surprise. In an envelope was a $100 bill from 1880.

"This is an amazingly rare note," Batey was told by the show's expert. "As a matter of fact, there are only 16 of these known. This is number 17."

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 9th 2011 12:45AM
Vanessa Lachey, 'Winter Wipeout: Deck the Balls'ABC brought us a special holiday edition with 'Winter Wipeout: Deck the Balls' (Thu., 8PM ET on ABC). But it was more than just a teaser for the new season, kicking off in January. It was an opportunity to introduce the new face on the team. The presenter in the field with the contestants is Vanessa Lachey, replacing Jill Wagner, who had served in that role since the first episode.

John Anderson introduced her as a present for co-host John Henson, while Lachey wasted no time getting her digs in. "I'm a huge fan of both of you," she said. "Anderson, I love your work on ESPN. And Henson, your dad invented the Muppets, right?"

She brought a lot of the same quirky personality that made her a fan-favorite on 'TRL' on MTV, like joining a contestant in becoming a human kazoo.

'Happy Endings' - 'Grinches Be Crazy'Most parents are familiar with those homemade coupons that their kids give them. For some reason, Alex continued to do that into adulthood until finally, Dave called her on it in this week's holiday-themed episode of 'Happy Endings' (Wed., 9:30PM ET on ABC).

To prove the coupons were sincere, Alex decided to allow Dave to cash in all the coupons he'd received throughout the year, which included a nice indoor beach party. That became the replacement vacation for Brad and Jane after they gave their trip away to their housekeeper.

'Modern Family': Express Christmas Is a Near Total Disaster (VIDEO)

'Modern Family' - 'Express Christmas'Things might not have gone according to plan with Phil's "Express Christmas" plan on 'Modern Family' (Wed., 9PM ET on ABC), but there were plenty of laughs along the way. Plus, as the clan was separated to tackle different holiday-related tasks as fast as possible, it was surprising to see Hayley emerge as the most savvy and competent one.

Her tactic of pretending to work for Target to secure an item someone else had already picked up was sheer genius. For everyone else, though, it was one mishap after another until finally they had to call it. This just wasn't going to happen.

Only Jay had one final trick up his sleeve. When he invited everyone out to Chinese instead, they opened the door to a guy blowing snow all over the front lawn. Sure, they were poolside earlier that day, but by the end it was a little piece of Christmas for the whole family.

Jeri Ryan, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'Jeri Ryan's Seven of Nine was at the same time one of the most popular 'Star Trek' characters and one of the most polarizing among hardcore fans. Plus, as is evident by anyone who saw her on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC), Ryan is a beautiful woman. This is a dangerous combination, as she learned when she picked up a couple of stalkers along the way.

It got so bad that she had to stop going to conventions for awhile, but the actress admits that she's back to going to them, with one minor change. "Now they've beefed up the security so I can go again," she said.

Christina Applegate, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'If someone were to ask which show of the late '80s and '90s would spawn some of the most acclaimed and successful actors of the modern generation, no one would have picked FOX's raunchy hit 'Married... with Children.' On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC), Christina Applegate marveled at the success the cast has seen.

While she's enjoying another career renaissance with 'Up All Night,' Ed O'Neill is finally getting some industry recognition for his work as family patriarch on 'Modern Family.' Kardashian sisters, 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition'Bullying is a serious problem that can lead to all sorts of emotional and psychological issues for the victims, even later into their lives. For the Walker family, it cost them their son after he committed suicide at the tender age of 11. 'Once Upon a Time' Season 1, Episode 6 Recap: Prince Charming's Identity Crisis

Prince Charming['Once Upon a Time' - 'The Shepherd']

Well, no-one said that it was going to be easy. The course of true love never did run smooth, as Shakespeare wisely wrote, and for those of us hoping that Snow White and Prince Charming might find their happily ever after six episodes into the show's first season, this week's installment of 'Once Upon a Time' certainly had its share of emotional ups and downs.

We were treated to a little of Snow and Charming's backstory in episode three, but 'The Shepherd,' written by genre mainstays Andrew Chambliss ('The Vampire Diaries,' 'Dollhouse' and 'Heroes') and Ian Goldberg ('FlashForward' and 'The Sarah Connor Chronicles') proved to be a perfect companion piece to 'Snow Falls,' bringing us right up to the events of that episode while also providing some surprising revelations about "Prince James."

'Grey's Anatomy' Is Getting the 'Sliding Doors' Treatment, Reuniting Derek and Addison

by Maggie Furlong, posted Dec 3rd 2011 10:00AM
Twitter got 'Grey's Anatomy' fans very excited this week, but were the tweets misleading?

'Private Practice' star Kate Walsh and the shows' creator Shonda Rhimes were all a-tweet about Walsh being back on the 'Grey's' set to shoot. But it's not another crossover episode (although Rhimes promises there will be one again soon) -- Walsh's Addison is there to reunite with her TV ex Derek (Patrick Dempsey) for a "what if?" episode.

TV Line is reporting that a very special February sweeps episode of 'Grey's' will see the gang at Seattle Grace in an alternate reality. A very alternate reality, one where Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) isn't so dark and twisty, her surgical pro mom Ellis (Kate Burton) never got Alzheimer's and -- brace yourselves, MerDer diehards -- Addison and Derek never broke up.

Brian Frons Leaving ABC DaytimeBrian Frons is leaving his post as president of ABC Daytime.

Frons will be replaced by Vicki Dummer, currently the senior vice president of current series and specials.

Frons, who became a reviled figure to many viewers after canceling 'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live,' will exit when his contract ends in January. His departure comes as ABC restructures under the new division Times Square Studios. Times Square will handle all daytime and syndicated productions.

"While my decision to try something new was not arrived at easily, nine years is a long time in television terms," Frons said in a statement. "I'm proud of the performance of ABC Daytime over that time, and of all of the accomplishments that our team achieved along the way. I'm especially pleased by the early results for 'The Chew' and excited for the launch of 'The Revolution,' which will be one more positive step in transforming ABC Daytime for our viewers. I'll miss my colleagues and the wonderful talent that makes our shows, but know they are in very capable hands with Vicki going forward."

Pan Am Cast Interviews'Pan Am' is on the bubble -- a very stylish bubble.

Rumors of the show's cancellation spread like wildfire after star Karine Vanasse took to Twitter and said she received "the call." But the show is safe for the time being, according to a statement from ABC affirming the network's commitment to air all 14 episodes of Season 1 and confirming that it is still being considered for renewal.

"It's only going to get better," Christina Ricci told AOL TV during a visit to the show's New York set in early November. "It's just our first [season]. We're still trying things out and figuring out what works and what doesn't. I feel like we're just going to get better and better."
