J.R. Martinez Says 'DWTS' Last Night 'Was an Out-of-Body Experience'
by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 8th 2011 6:15AM
There's been a lot of criticism this season that 'Dancing With the Stars' is becoming nothing but a popularity contest, with dancers getting by on public votes rather than talent. However, in the background each week J.R. Martinez and his partner Karina Smirnoff have quietly been getting better and better. Last night they not only scored the first perfect 30 of the season for their waltz, they went on to score another 30 for their jive. After recent contentious bust-ups on the show --- Maks vs. Len, Chaz and Lacey vs. Bruno, accusations of favoritism -- it was a welcome return to what the show is all about: Watching hard work pay off in the form of some really great dancing.
So, how does it feel to be the winningest couple on this season of 'DWTS?' Speaking to reporters on the post-show press line, a clearly delighted Martinez thanked Smirnoff for being "an amazing teacher," and he told OnTheRedCarpet.com that in rehearsals he'd "felt really good about the waltz ... and I felt I'd have a good opportunity to do well."
Herman Cain Laughs Off Sexual Harassment Allegations on 'Kimmel' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 8th 2011 5:45AM
According to Herman Cain, the sexual harassment allegations that have been laid at his campaign doorstep over the past week haven't been all bad. While he's planning a press conference to address the accusations directly, and affirms that "there's not an ounce of truth" in the claims, he also indicated on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM on ABC) that fundraising has actually improved."The day of ... these accussations, we had the highest fundraising day online in the history of this campaign and it has not stopped," he said. "The American people are saying, 'We are sick of gutter politics.'"
'Dancing With the Stars' Week 8: J.R. Gets Two Perfect Scores & Nancy Falls From Grace
by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 7th 2011 11:40PM
To quote the lovably looney Bruno Tonioli, it was a night of miracles in the ballroom during this week's 'Dancing With the Stars.' It was the last dance-off before the semi-finals, and everyone brought their A-game. But no one brought it quite like J.R. Martinez. The Iraq War veteran not only scored the first perfect score of the season for his dreamy waltz -- but then he did it again with his high-energy jive. That's a perfect score of 60, and it was just as incredible as it sounds. This week J.R. was on a mission to dance a perfect waltz, and he most certainly succeeded. The pair got a standing ovation -- before their dance was even finished. J.R. and Karina were absolutely lovely together, so it's pretty fitting that the two would receive that first perfect score of the season. Despite J.R.'s goofy moves in rehearsals, this soldier is in it to win it. His lines were clean, his toes were pointed and he even managed to pull off some pretty impressive tricks (watch out, Derek!).
A Quiet Reveal for a War Veteran on 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' (VIDEO)
by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 7th 2011 2:45AM
Every family touched by 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' (Fri., 8PM ET on ABC) has a worthy story, but few makeovers are as poignant and relevant as last week's renovation.Ty Pennington and his team headed to Ottowa, KS, to surprise the Hill family, whose patriarch, Staff Sergeant Allen Hill, was almost killed by a roadside bomb while serving in Iraq. Though he survived the blast, he now suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that can be triggered by loud noises, dimly lit spaces and long hallways.
The former Hill family home was located near a rock quarry and a train yard, both sources of constant noise and disruption, so the 'Extreme Makeover' team found a more suitable location on which to construct a new property.
'Once Upon a Time' Season 1, Episode 3 Recap
by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 6th 2011 9:30PM
['Once Upon a Time' - 'Snow Falls']For the hopeless romantics among us -- myself included -- tonight's episode of 'Once Upon a Time' was like a dream come true. We've grown up with stories of happily ever after and love at first sight, and 'OUAT' is at its most potent when it plays on those whimsical childhood memories, taking us back to a time when we truly believed that our soulmate was out there somewhere, just the other side of an evil witch's curse.
But, as the series has already demonstrated in its first two episodes, it's also surprisingly adept at taking the fairytales we know and love and turning them on their heads. Few who saw the Disney iteration of Snow White could possibly have imagined her as rock-wielding thief with decidedly messy hair, but 'Once' presented the idea so confidently, I couldn't help but prefer their version. (Snow White was always my least favorite Disney princess, anyway -- that voice was just too grating.)
ABC Gives 'Once Upon a Time,' 'Last Man Standing' & 'Happy Endings' Full Season Orders
by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 4th 2011 7:15AM
The fall has been kind to ABC; after recent full season orders for 'Revenge' and 'Suburgatory,' the Alphabet network is doubling down with pickups for two more of their freshman series, fantasy drama 'Once Upon a Time' and Tim Allen's 'Last Man Standing.'Though 'Once' has only aired two episodes so far, it's already the highest-rated new drama of the season, managing an average 12.3 million viewers and a robust 4.0 rating in the coveted adults 18-49 demo. Allen's male-skewing comedy has seen some audience erosion since its premiere, but it's still performing well on Tuesday nights (12.7 million and a 3.7 demo), where ABC had previously struggled to make an impact.
Sophomore comedy 'Happy Endings' has seen series-high ratings in recent weeks, and finally seems to be catching on with viewers in its post-'Modern Family' slot, which has earned it a full 22 episodes. (Ah-mah-zing!)
Bad news for 'Pan Am' and 'Man Up' though ...
Who Will Save 'One Life to Live' and 'All My Children'?
by Chris Harnick, posted Nov 3rd 2011 3:00PM
'All My Children' has left TV and 'One Life to Live' is on its way out, but the soaps will live online ... right? The soaps are set to move onto the web after January 2012, when 'One Life to Live' is set to end its 43-year run, but there's a bit of a problem.Prospect Park, the company that has licensed the soaps from ABC, has yet to win over enough financial backers to bring the soaps to the Internet, according to All Things D.
The company is retaining most of the same stars and behind-the-scenes team, making it a pricey venture.

Cam Picks Up Leslie Mann to Prove He Has Game on 'Modern Family' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 3rd 2011 2:15AM
Cameron thought that he had so much game that he could pick up women if he wanted to, but Mitchell wasn't buying it for a second on 'Modern Family' (Wed., 9PM ET on ABC). Quite frankly, he didn't believe Cam could even convince a woman he was straight first and challenged him to go and get a phone number from guest star Leslie Mann.Cam got the number, and while he thought it was because of his heterosexual masculinity, he ultimately found out that she knew he was gay from the moment he approached her -- she was simply excited to have a potential gay friend. The problem was, that meant Mitchell was right, and Cam would never hear the end of it.

'Happy Endings' Preview: Fred Savage, a Steak Me Home Tonight Commercial & More
by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 2nd 2011 3:30PM
Tonight's episode of 'Happy Endings' (Wed., Nov. 2, 9:30PM ET on ABC) is one I've really been looking forward to. Fred Savage -- yes, Fred Savage of 'Wonder Years' and 'Princess Bride' fame -- not only directed this episode but also stepped in front of the cameras for a quick cameo playing himself.

I visited the 'Happy' set while they were shooting this episode, titled 'Lying Around,' which finds Savage randomly interrupting a date that Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) is on. We'll also see Dave (Zachary Knighton) taking his food truck to the next level. Yep, that's right, we're talking about a Steak Me Home Tonight commercial. Only problem? Dave is horrible on camera, and Max (Adam Pally) might not be that great behind the camera either. (Couldn't they have gone super meta and had Savage direct the commercial within the show, too?)

EXCLUSIVE: 'Castle' Is Heading to Atlantic City, But Beckett's on Desk Duty
by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 2nd 2011 12:00PM
A few weeks back, we broke the news about 'Desperate Housewives' alum Richard Burgi heading to 'Castle.' Now we've got an exclusive sneak peek at his episode, titled 'Heartbreak Hotel.'In the episode (airs Mon., Nov. 7, 10PM ET on ABC), Castle and the guys are off to Atlantic City ... for a case, of course. But while they're having fun -- I mean, working hard -- in what Castle calls "the East coast epicenter of dancing, gambling, showgirls and sin," Beckett's got the new boss lady to deal with back at the precinct.
The new Captain ("sir," if you're going to address her directly) is still trying to get her bearings with this bunch. At first, she was all over Castle, but now it looks like she's starting to see his worth -- and has moved on to questioning Beckett's skills. "I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do without him."
We'll go ahead and bet on Beckett proving that her case-cracking skills are unparalleled, with or without Castle. Take a peek at next week's 'Castle' and tell us what you think ...
Adam Sandler Talks About How Excited Al Pacino Was to Be Working With Him (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 2nd 2011 4:45AM
You might not have expected to hear Adam Sandler's new movie 'Jack and Jill' being talked about in the same conversation as 'The Godfather,' but it happened not once, but twice, on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC).First, Kimmel was marveling at how much screen-time Al Pacino had in the film. "I expected Al would be in the movie for like two minutes, but Al is in the whole movie," he said. "Al is in this movie more than he was in 'The Godfather.'"
Later, Sandler said that Pacino was excited to be working "with the great Adam Sandler." He then related a story about Pacino tearing up on the set, forcing them to stop filming. According to Sandler, Pacino said he was crying because "it hurts knowing Marlon [Brando] will never work with such greatness."
'Dancing With the Stars' Week Seven Elimination (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 2nd 2011 12:15AM
If you were to go by the judges' scores this week on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Tue., 9PM ET on ABC), we'd be saying goodbye to Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus. She had the lowest combined totals from the judges across two performances this week. But we know that America doesn't always agree with the judges, and popularity is as much a factor as anything else. David Arquette and J.R. Martinez also scored below a 50, but really it could've been virtually anyone going as the scores tend to tighten up as we near the end of competition.
