Pauly Shore admits to punch-out hoax
I know, I know, we were all hoping that Pauly Shore actually got his face punched in at an Odessa, TX comedy club, but as we found out pretty soon after the video debuted, the whole thing was a hoax. Pauly went on Access Hollywood last night to explain why he set up the staged fight.According to him, the entire crowd in the comedy club was in on the joke. He told the members of the audience that the heckling and the fight was going to happen and instructed them to record the whole thing on their cell phone cameras.
Heroes mid-season finale sneak-peek
Monday is the mid-season finale of Heroes, and Access Hollywood has about five minutes of clips from the upcoming episode. The clips include two scenes with Peter- one with Claire and one with his brother, another clip includes Hiro and Isaac, and there's also one with Mr. Bennett and Sylar. There's nothing terribly revealing in these clips, which makes me wonder whether there's going to be any action in this mid-season finale. The scenes just show characters having conversations with each other and the plot advancing forward.Check out the clips here-- warning: the video is a little jumpy if you use a Mac.
Eva Longoria injured on Housewives set
Eva Longoria took a tumble Wednesday as she stepped out of her trailer on the set of Desperate Housewives. Her publicist says she slipped on a stair as she left the trailer and landed flat on her back. She was taken to the hospital, where doctors determined that nothing is broken but her ribs are pretty bruised up. Despite the pain she's in, Eva won't miss a day of work. She was also injured in August 2005 when a piece of equipment knocked her on the head but, again, she didn't miss any work.Access Hollywood anchor Billy Bush is blaming himself for Eva's fall. On his MSNBC blog, Billy says he was on the phone with Longoria as she stepped out of her trailer and fell. He says he called her back but the phone went to voicemail and then she called (while he was watching Dancing with the Stars) to explain what happened.
Things I Hate About TV: Calling actors by their character names
The infotainment shows (The Insider, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, etc) are all moronic. Studies have shown that you actually lose brain cells when you watch them. That's no secret. But do they have to be so outrageously moronic?
I'm watching a repeat of yesterday's The Insider this morning, and they kept teasing an upcoming story about "Doctor McDreamy." They must have said the name at least five times, before the damn story even ran, later in the show.
One new baby and Three Moons Over Milford: TV Guide in 60 seconds
On the cover: Mariska Hargitay and her new baby. Inside, a photo spread. Why would any star want to have a photo spread of their child? Publicity? I don't get why stars expose their kids like that. - Matt Roush really dislikes Three Moons Over Milford, calling it "cloying" and "annoying."

Turns out Couric would go to a war zone after all
Last week, I mentioned an Access Hollywood report where Katie Couric mentioned that she probably would not go into the Israeli war zone for CBS, citing her kids as the main reason. But, apparently, Access didn't quite get things right. As the NY Post's Page Six reports, the program's web site took Katie's quotes out of context, from a May interview about the Iraqi bombing incident that injured CBS' Kimberly Dozier and killed two of her colleagues. When speaking to critics at the TCA press tour, Katie addressed the question of being sent into a war zone by saying it would depend on the situation. "But clearly, if it's going to serve the story, advance the story, and be helpful to the story, I would like to be there."Access makes the correction and clarification at the top of the story on its web site.

Couric says she won't go into war zone
Access Hollywood has a takes a second off from its Suri Cruise watch to present a serious story on how news anchors and reporters deal with being in war zones. They speak to NBC's Martin Fletcher about almost being killed by a rocket in Haifa as he was working a story about Hezbollah's bombing of the Israeli city a few days ago.The article goes on to mention Bob Woodruff's injury in Iraq, and the fact that both Brian Williams and Charles Gibson are overseas right now. But then they pose the big question: Will Katie Couric, when she takes over at CBS this fall, travel to the war zone? Her answer is quite understandable: "I think the situation there is so dangerous, and as a single parent with two children, that's something I won't be doing," she told Access. I wonder why more reporters don't think that way.

Britney Spears interviewed by Matt Lauer for Dateline
Pop diva Britney Spears wants to assure her adoring fans that everything is just peachy with her marriage to pop diva Kevin Federline, and prove to the world in general that her mothering skills are more than adequate. So, rather than having a press conference on the White House lawn, she is turning to Matt Lauer and NBC's Dateline to set the record straight.
Lauer will sit down with Spears for an interview that will run on Dateline this Thursday. During the conversation he will address tabloid rumors about her crumbling marriage to Federline (she loves him for his simplicity) and her alleged new man (her security guard, she confirms) and the tabloids themselves (she wants to start her own magazine to tell everyone the real story). She will also speak about her son Sean and answer recent questions about the way she handles the baby boy.
Before airing on Dateline, snippets of the interview will air on the NBC-owned entertainment news program Access Hollywood tonight and on the Today show Thursday morning. By Thursday evening we will all be able to get a good night's sleep, full of relief that all of the rumors were fake and all is well in the Spears-Federline household.
I wish they'd cancel The Insider

That's what this vague news story makes it sound like anyway. The new daytime show is being developed (or maybe
they've even shot the pilot?) by the NBC Universal Stations group and may involve Tony Potts from Access Hollywood in
some way. Of course, that could mean he's the host or maybe he's parking cars on the studio lot, we'll have to see.But the hype from the spokesperson is incredible. Now only is it "something we're excited about," it's also being "designed to provide community on-air and online interactivity" and will "thrive on air, on the web, and other interactive mediums (sic) available to our viewers." It will also control time and space, cure the common cold, and be loved by children all over the world.
Things I Hate About TV: stupid breaking news on gossip shows
What is it with shows like Entertainment Tonight, The
Insider, and Access Hollywood, breaking news stories that not only aren't breaking, they're not news and
they're not stories. For example: ET has the habit, every year at this time, of saying, "Breaking News!
ET has learned that Cameron Diaz will be a presenter at this year's Oscars!" How the hell is this news?
That a star is going to be a presenter? And they do it almost every episode, for about two weeks leading up to the
awards show.
A celeb deciding to go to an awards show is not news. Now, maybe if Cameron Diaz decided to boycott the Oscars, and picketed the red carpet dressed like a giant chicken, that would be news. But don't tell me that there's this incredible news breaking that she's going to be a presenter.
