Adam Lambert's Not-So-Racy Performance on 'The Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 3rd 2010 4:56AM
Adam Lambert on The Tonight ShowNever let it be said that all of Adam Lambert's performances are sex-filled romps. While not exactly tame, his performance on 'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) was noticeably less provocative than some previous performances.

Still, sporting dark eye shadow and a frou-frou 'do, he still managed to be the quintessential Adam Lambert. Does he seem tired out, though?

Will ABC Let Adam Lambert Into the Oscars?

The Adam Lambert/ABC controversy is one of those things that makes zero sense to me. If you recall, after Lambert kissed a dude and briefly simulated oral sex with someone in his band on the American Music Awards, ABC freaked out and started banning him from their shows. The network canceled appearances on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' and 'Good Morning America,' apparently fearing that the 'American Idol' runner-up wouldn't be able to refrain from nibbling George Stephanopoulos' ear at 7:30 AM. What I don't get is why this is such a big deal: it's as if ABC is operating in a world in which Lady Gaga and her antics don't exist.

Now the big Lambert news is that he may be attending the Oscars, which is airing March 7 on ABC. As Lambert isn't in the film industry, this makes little sense-- except that he may be attending the ceremony with longtime friend Anna Kendrick, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her turn in the George Clooney film, 'Up In The Air.'

Was there an American Idol/Project Runway mashup last night?

by Kona Gallagher, posted Jan 27th 2010 4:00PM
daniel francoAmerican Idol is still marching along with its auditions, and last night's episode had us in Los Angeles. We had guest judges Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry, but those weren't the only familiar faces we saw. During a segment on contestants who were aping Adam Lambert, we saw a guy who said that he would be the product of Susan Boyle and Adam Lambert having sex. He seemed familiar, and now the folks behind Project Runway have figured it out: It was former Project Runway contestant Daniel Franco.

Franco appeared in not one, but two seasons of Runway, and was made out to be sort of crazy. He didn't win, and is apparently testing out other avenues in the realm of reality television. He doesn't mention anything about this endeavor on his website, but then again, he hasn't updated his blog since 2007. It doesn't appear as though Franco got a golden ticket, so we'll never know how his singing ability stacks up to his design ability. More importantly, we're missing out on the Project Runway/American Idol mashup that we never wanted.

Reviewcap: American Idol - Auditions #1: Boston

Alright, everyone! It seems like just moments ago that Kris Allen was crowned the new American Idol, but now he and runner-up Adam Lambert are old news. It's time to find the next superstar. This is going to be a big season: It's the first one without Paula, the first one with Ellen, and the last one with Simon. So let's just sit back, relax, and enjoy some auditions!

We start out with a look back at last season, and I'm sure Kara DioGuardi loves the fact that they're opening up with her ripping her dress off onstage with The Bikini Girl. Ryan talks about Paula leaving and shows a clip of Ellen announcing that she'll be the new judge. She looks so cute and excited! I can't wait for her to get on the live episodes. For now, however, we have guest judge Victoria Beckham. Am I the only one who forgets that she talks? I'm just so used to her posing, hearing her voice freaks me out.

FCC complaints against Adam Lambert hit the web

by Danny Gallagher, posted Jan 7th 2010 9:33AM
Remember when American Idol competitor Adam Lambert's controversial performance at the American Music Awards landed him in water so hot that you could boil live lobsters in it? Me neither.

Apparently, a lot of viewers wish they were me because they bombarded the FCC with complaints and they have now found their way to a blog dedicated to them called "Why Not Glambert"?

The complaints obtained from a Freedom of Information Act request list the white-hot grievances in all of their non-spell-checked glory from the senior pastor who vowed to "lead my church in a boycot (sic) of ABC" to the parent who was "truely (sic) disguisted (sic)". I wonder if these same people who were so offended by Lambert's performance also don't own a dictionary because it too contains naughty and offensive words like "angina," "masticate" and "pianist."

Top TV Stories of 2009: Adam Lambert vs. Kris Allen

by Jane Boursaw, posted Dec 27th 2009 10:03AM
American Idol: Adam Lambert and Kris AllenEven die-hard viewers of American Idol might have a hard time remembering that Adam Lambert didn't win the competition earlier this year. Especially considering Lambert's high-profile persona lately, starting with his sex-filled American Music Awards performance.

But no, the winner of American Idol was, in fact, Kris Allen, who's seemingly the complete opposite of Lambert. There's no denying they're both great singers, but whereas Lambert is brash, theatrical and loves to knock those high notes out of the stadium, Allen is more low-key, folksy and laid back. The fellow contestants were also roommates at the Idol mansion.

Adam Lambert Talks Quitting College and Makeup Line Rumors on 'Leno' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Dec 22nd 2009 9:30AM
On 'The Jay Leno Show,' 'American Idol' runner-up Adam Lambert talked about his decision to quit college and dispelled rumors that he's starting a cosmetics line.

Lambert told Jay Leno that he decided, much to his parent's dismay, to drop out of college after being enrolled for only a very short time. "I decided to drop out of college after five weeks. I didn't last very long. My father was mad at first," Lambert said. "He was like, 'Well, I'm not paying for your life.' And now, with everything that's happened, I know they're both very proud."

'So You Think You Can Dance' (8PM, Fox) season 6 finale
A winner is chosen in the live season finale, but that may not end up being tomorrow's headlines from the show. Following season six guest performances by Snoop Dogg, 'American Idol' champ Kris Allen and Shakira, the finale will feature a live tune by 'AI' runner-up, and recent 'American Music Awards' scandal magnet Adam Lambert. Will he shock the audience once again as he returns to his old Fox network stomping grounds?

Adam Lambert Returns to ABC on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Dec 11th 2009 9:00AM
ABC finally allowed American Idol's Adam Lambert back on the air to chat with the ladies of 'The View' yesterday. The network has canceled three scheduled performances by Lambert since his controversial appearance on the 2009 American Music Awards last month.

However, it seems ABC wasn't taking any chances on the 'Idol' runner-up. His entire appearance on 'The View,' which included an interview segment and live performance, was pre-taped.

Letterman Makes Barbara Walters Blush Over Adam Lambert Comment (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Dec 9th 2009 11:27AM
It's precisely this sort of willingness to say anything that makes us love David Letterman.

While discussing Adam Lambert's infamous 2009 American Music Awards performance with guest Barbara Walters on last night's 'Late Show with David Letterman,' Letterman referenced a past appearance by the 'American Idol' contestant on his show, mentioned that he seemed like "a very nice guy," then expressed relief that a certain male-specific part of Lambert's anatomy didn't also make an appearance.

Top TV Moment of 2009: Adam Lambert's AMAs Shocker

by Sharon Knolle, posted Dec 8th 2009 9:00AM
Maybe 'American Idol' voters got it right: Adam Lambert with his guyliner, black fingernail polish, questionable sexuality and over-the-top theatricality, was simply too much to handle. Midway through 'Idol', he proved he could tame his wild child in a gorgeous, hushed version of 'Mad World,' that earned a rare standing ovation from prickly Simon Cowell. Even critics sat up and realized, hey, this kid can do more than scream.

What to Watch: December 7 - 13

Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009 - Wednesday December 9, 10 pm, Global/ABC

Babs' annual love-in raises the bar a little this year - or is it just that 2009 was a really bizarre year? The short list includes four people I would confidently call lunatics (though some use their crazy for good and others for evil) including Sarah Palin, Adam Lambert, Kate Gosselin and Lady Gaga. Tyler Perry is also on the list and I can't wait to see how Walters handles him. Tyler, if you are reading this, I beg you to do the interview in Madea drag. Brett Favre and Glenn Beck from the world of sports round out the published list. The top three fascinators will be revealed during the broadcast. Who wants to do a pool? My picks are Robert Pattinson, Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey.

Adam Lambert booked on The View

by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 5th 2009 2:00PM
adam_lambert_foxThe on-again, off-again love affair between ABC and American Idol star Adam Lambert is making my head spin. In the past week or so, still stinging over Lambert's over the top performance at the American Music Awards, ABC dropped Adam Lambert appearances on Good Morning American, Jimmy Kimmel Live and New Year's Rockin' Eve.

Adam absolved ABC of responsibility for the cancellations. He Tweeted that it was pressure from the FCC. Then the folks at GLAAD weighed in, coming to Adam's defense. That was followed by the announcement that Adam is now set to appear on ABC's The View on Thursday, December 10. He'll also be on Barbara Walters' Most Fascinating People special on December 9.

ABC drops Adam Lambert again and again

by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 3rd 2009 11:28AM
adam_lambert_sittingWhen Adam Lambert was competing on American Idol, there were times when his performances reminded the judges -- and viewers -- of Elvis Presley. And other rock icons, too. It was all part of Adam's appeal. But now that he's promoting his new CD and did a "scandalous" performance at the American Music Awards, he's really getting the Elvis treatment. There's fear that his actions, which are more graphic than anything Elvis ever did, will go too far.

Today, Adam tweeted that ABC had cancelled two more spots on the network -- his upcoming Jimmy Kimmel Live! date and a New Year's Eve performance. Adam added that nobody should blame ABC for the cancellations because it was pressure from the FCC that prompted ABC's action. So maybe we should really be blaming Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake for the infamous Super Bowl breast/costume malfunction? ABC previously dumped Adam from Good Morning America.
