Is 'Top Gear U.S.A.' Back On Track?
by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 17th 2010 7:38PM

When NBC killed Adam Carolla's 'Top Gear' project, it seemed like a cursed project. It had a huge project that only an Iranian oil tycoon could cover and everyone loves the original BBC show so much that doing a remake of it almost feels like a sacrilege.
However, being a huge 'Top Gear' head myself, I was still willing to give it a chance and I'm still willing to give it a shot now that it may be on its way to The History Channel.
Network sources told the car blog Jalopnik that they have a 10 to 12 episode order for the show and are currently looking for hosts. Meanwhile, Carolla said on his car blog that he was being considered for three hosting jobs. If the mighty eyebrows took the front seat, would you watch it?

NBC picks up latest Adam Carolla project
by Danny Gallagher, posted Jan 5th 2010 11:00AM
Jeremy Clarkson's long lost American clone has scored some more TV time. Former Man Show and Top Gear USA host Adam Carolla has put together a pilot for a new sitcom and it has been picked up by NBC.
So far, it's just a pilot order and not a promise for an actual series. It's also the second pilot order Carolla has scored since his radio show was pulled out from underneath him by the tightwads at CBS Radio.
This latest pilot is about a contractor who finds his life in shambles after a divorce. If it goes to the airwaves, expect Carolla's trademark hardware sarcasm surrounding toggle bolts and cordless drills with adjustable torque clutches.
The cancelled Top Gear USA... who loves ya baby?

The announcement of the death of the remake of one of the world's most beloved car shows, Top Gear, was followed with an obvious reaction. Practically everyone who had heard of the original BBC show celebrated its passing with the same fervor as the Ewoks when the Death Star exploded. It's a natural reaction. It's hard not to assume that once we Americans get our grubby remaking mitts on something, we're bound to mess with it too much and screw it up. We've done it too many times to count. The last three Fawlty Towers remakes were the combined equivalent of the sinking of the Lusitania, only with a lower body count.
But just like anything in life, there were pluses and minuses to us Yanks getting our own Top Gear. Now that NBC has ensured that we won't get one this season, here are the lovers and haters of what could have been the second greatest car show that may never be.
NBC kills Top Gear USA

NBC had planned to bring the popular BBC and BBC America car show Top Gear to us yanks. Instead, NBC has decided to cut its brake cables in the middle of a brilliant power slide. The official Top Gear blog announced that NBC won't air their US version of the show as a mid-season replacement in 2009.
This means the show and their hosts, Adam Carolla, Eric Stromer and Tanner Foust, are up to grabs for the highest bidder like a drug dealer's impounded Cadillac Escalade at a municipal car auction.
