Adam Lambert is the Guest Judge on 'Project Runway' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 23rd 2011 8:00AM
Adam LambertThe designers faced a team challenge this week on 'Project Runway' (Thurs., 9PM ET on LIFE) and the theme was rock and roll music.

Each team had to design a look for an emerging band to wear on the cover of 'Rolling Stone.' The guest judge this week was 'American Idol' alum Adam Lambert, who knows his rock and his fashion, and who didn't pull any punches.

He slammed Anya's Hiawatha-esque creation: "This tunic is like an eight-grade production of 'Hair the Musical.' It just doesn't feel like fashion."

However, he did like the fit of Joshua's pants and the "sexy" zipper -- "It's like rock and roll. Totally."

Vicci Martinez Brings Down the House on 'The Voice' Semi-Finals (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 22nd 2011 6:12AM
Vicci Martinez, 'The Voice''The Voice' (Tue., 9PM ET on NBC) continued blazing toward its finale next week at a breakneck pace. This week, we got the final four members of our Elite Eight, and got to hear them sing. Tomorrow, another hatchet job will send four of them home, leaving each Coach with only one contender for the finale.

!!SPOILER ALERT!!

Before the Top 8 could sing, though, we needed to know who they were. And that meant getting the results of last week's battle between Teams Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine. As with the prior week, America's vote would save one contestant, while the Coach would save the other.

Adam Lambert Impresses 'American Idol' Audience With Subdued Performance (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 10th 2011 11:30PM
Adam Lambert, 'American Idol'Adam Lambert, the former runner-up of 'American Idol' (Thu., 8PM on FOX) returned to the stage that made him a star with a stripped down version of his song "Aftermath." The singer brought the acoustic version so that the lyrics and message of the song could shine.

We still saw that signature tongue of his slip out of his mouth on one of the bigger notes, but it was a much smaller performance than the decadence that marked most of his time as a contestant on the 'Idol' stage.

In the banter with Ryan Seacrest, Lambert talked about a dance version of the song that's also available, wherein Seacrest admitted to doing the "Dougie" to it, a dance movie Lambert proved unfamiliar with.

'American Idol airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8PM ET on FOX.

'Idol' News Beat: Siobhan Magnus Records, Plus Alex Lambert Homelessness Update

by Hilary Rothing, posted Feb 15th 2011 5:00PM
Remember way back when Season 9's Alex Lambert claimed, via Twitter, to be living on the streets? Then a rep from 19 Entertainment, which has a development deal with Lambert, claimed the contrary, citing a retainer from which Lambert recieves monthly checks.

Well, Lambert, who's been tweeting away over the past month, had this to tweet about 19 Entertainment's reponse:

"19 entertainment put me on a retainer>>?"

Then, in a response to a tweet from fellow season 9–er Andrew Garcia asking what a retainer is (umm), Lambert followed up:

"$$$ dude! These guys have been telling the media they been payin me! Makin me look like im lyin! It's a shame dude!"

Idol News Beat: Fantasia Gets a Movie, Sanjaya Gets a Musical and Adam Gets a Grammy(?!)

by Hilary Rothing, posted Feb 11th 2011 7:15PM
'American Idol' may not always make lasting superstars, but at least the show is good for boosting the album sales of its judges panel...or least one of them.

According to Nielsen Soundscan, Steven Tyler's Aerosmith has seen an incredible 250% increase in sales of their "Greatest Hits" compilations. The 'Idol' effect was also felt in Aerosmith's singles catalog, with a 363% boost for power ballad and 'Idol' audition favorite, "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing," during the week ending Jan 30th. As for J.Lo's record sales, no news is...

Adam Lambert Picks Up Sara Gilbert in a Test of Manliness (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Feb 9th 2011 4:15PM
Sarah Gilbert, Adam Lambert, 'The Talk'Inspired by the new book 'The Art of Manliness,' Sara Gilbert and her co-hosts on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) quizzed Grammy Week guest Adam Lambert on his man skills. Gilbert asked if he had ever busted down a door or if he could predict weather like a frontiersman.

As it turns out, Lambert has in fact busted down a door, and though he can't predict the weather and has never changed a tire, he has changed a car battery.

Holly Robinson Peete then asked Lambert if he could do a fireman's carry ... of Sara Gilbert, specifically. "I probably could," he said -- and proceeded to do just that. He lifted Gilbert over his shoulder before giving her a twirl and setting her back down on the couch gently. Leah Remini was impressed and said he had the art of manliness down. She should know. She has the book.

Adam Lambert's GlamNation Tour Hits NYC With Fellow 'Idol' Alum Allison Iraheta

by Gabrielle Dunn, posted Jun 24th 2010 5:45PM
Adam LambertIf New York City felt a bit more glam this week, it's because Adam Lambert's glittery GlamNation tour, which began earlier this month, just wrapped a two-night stop in the Big Apple.

Opening for Lambert on tour is fellow 'Idol' season 8 alumna and fourth-place finisher Allison Iraheta, as well as Aussie guitarist Orianthi.

On both nights, Iraheta's sets were filled with high energy, kneeling and belting; the girl gave it her all. Unfortunately, the crowd of Glamberts (moreso on Tuesday night) didn't elicit the enthusiastic response that she deserved, probably because they were impatient for Lambert to come out on stage. It's always tough being an opener, but when the fans are this fanatical for the main event, it's hard for them to muster enthusiasm for anyone else.

Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, Katy Perry and Everyone Else at the 'MuchMusic Awards' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jun 21st 2010 3:35AM
Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, and Everyone Else at the 'MuchMusic Awards'Have you heard of the 'MuchMusic Awards'? If it takes a second for the name to kick in, that's because they're the Canadian music awards. So, they're like a version of the MTV Awards, except more Canada-y.

Apparently every trendy person ever was at the 'MuchMusic Awards' (Sun., 9PM ET on Fuse). Guests included Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Adam Lambert -- and just about anyone else that you could think of.

Katy and Miley seemed to have a bit of a competition to see who could wear a more revealing outfit. Also in attendance were Snooki and 'The Situation' from 'Jersey Shore': which was unnecessary, but then, the two of them turn up everywhere, so -- you know -- whatever.

Basically, everyone was at the show.

Five Best/Worst Possible 'American Idol' Alumni Mentors

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 20th 2010 11:02AM
The critics have spoken, and most seem to agree that last season's runner-up Adam Lambert did a great job as the celebrity mentor to the Top 9 on this past week's 'American Idol.' We even think he'd make a great judge. But why was Lambert the first 'Idol' alum to be invited back in the capacity of mentor?

Adam Lambert Should Replace Simon Cowell on 'American Idol'

by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 18th 2010 2:04PM
adam_lambert_fox_american_idolThis hasn't been a particularly exciting season of 'American Idol.' The addition of Ellen DeGeneres has rated a 'B-minus' at best, and that's if you're grading on a curve. The contestants have failed to create the buzz we've heard in previous seasons.

The absence of Paula Abdul as a judge has given rise to rumors that she's going to be asked back next season to bring back the 'train wreck' factor. And then there's the reality that Simon Cowell has been punching the clock, sort of sleepwalking through the competition which will be his last go round with 'Idol.'

'American Idol' - 'Two of 9 Voted Off' Recap

by Kona Gallagher, posted Apr 14th 2010 11:22PM
American Idol top 9
After Big Mike's dramatic save last week, this show is being set up to be super-intense. Not only have the judges used their only save, but as the title indicates, two people are going home. But before that, we need a lot of filler. We have performances by Brooke White and Adam Lambert, which wow -- I enjoyed Brooke when she was on the show, but I can honestly say I haven't thought of her since.

We don't start off the show with any of this. Instead, we start off with the longest Elvis medley ever. It was so long, in fact, that I'm pretty sure they sang every single Elvis song ever written, four songs written by Elvis impersonators, and a verse from "Allison," just to round things out a little bit.

'American Idol' - 'Top 9 Compete ... Again' Recap

by Jane Boursaw, posted Apr 14th 2010 4:08AM
American Idol, Casey James, Elvis Week"My tongue is not nearly as talented as yours." - Ryan Seacrest to Adam Lambert

It was an interesting night on 'American Idol,' as that statement suggests. Obviously, Ryan was talking about Adam's tongue action while singing, but when he said it, Adam's eyebrows went up. He and Ryan would make a cute couple, wouldn't they?

Anyway, Ryan's mom was in the audience, too, which made things even more interesting. That and the fact that after Big Mike's save last week -- which I'm thankful for -- the Idols are definitely feeling the pressure. Two -- count 'em, two -- people will be sent packing this week.

Based on the performances, I'm guessing they won't be the ones we predict. Meaning that Tim Urban and Andrew Garcia will still be here after tonight. Ok, maybe not Andrew.

What to Watch: April 9

'Friday Night Alright: Adam Lambert Unplugged' (11PM, VH1)
His ability to wow us with his live performances is what landed Adam Lambert in the 'American Idol' season eight finale, and this 'Unplugged' set finds the singer at his best, even when he's rocking out acoustically. His current single, 'Whataya Want from Me,' is his biggest hit so far, and it's also the concert's best number. Other tunes from his debut CD, 'For Your Entertainment,' that pop up in the half-hour show: 'Down the Rabbit Hole,' 'Broken Open' (a song Lambert co-wrote) and 'Music Again.' He also performs a song that 'Idol' fans will remember well, since it's the song that sealed him as a season 8 front-runner: Tears for Fears' 'Mad World.'

MTV is Bringing Back 'Unplugged' (But Did it Ever Really Go Away?)

by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 5th 2010 4:02PM
MTV logoMTV has announced that they are bringing back the popular '90s series 'Unplugged,' the concert series where performers and bands play music without any electronics, in a more cozy, small setting. If I remember correctly it wasn't always electric-free, as if everyone was using acoustic guitars and bongos. I remember electric guitars and keyboards were sometimes used.

The network (along with Starburst) is making a big push with the show on MTV, VH1, and CMT. We'll see concerts with everyone from Adam Lambert and The Script to Reba McIntire and Phoenix. While the network is promoting this as a big "return" for the show, I'm not sure if completely went away. It's not like we haven't seen the show in ten years. Just last year they had 'Unplugged' concerts by people like Adele and Vampire Weekend.

The show will also be seen online at the web sites for the various networks. Earlier this year they dropped the "music" from their logo.
