Fox Cancels 'In the Flow with Affion Crockett'

by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 1st 2011 4:30PM
This may come as quite a surprise -- especially for those of you that didn't even know this show was still on air -- but Fox has decided to cancel its freshman sketch comedy show, 'In the Flow with Affion Crockett.'

The network aired six episodes of the show earlier this fall, on Sunday nights at 9:30PM ET.

Despite having some series comedy talent behind-the-scenes, like Jamie Foxx, 'Mad TV' co-creators Fax Bahr and Adam Small and 'Arrested Development' creator Mitch Hurwitz, the sketch comedy failed to find an audience, having only pulled in a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demo.

Affion Crockett Plays 'Put That on Something' on 'In the Flow' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 29th 2011 3:30PM
'Put That on Something' on 'In the Flow with Affion Crockett'As Affion Crockett's game show host Mark Johnson explained on a previous show, "'Put That on Something' in the hood simply means, 'Hey, I don't believe you, so why don't you wager something you love to prove to me that you're telling the truth.'" Thus, they played the game show 'Put That on Something' on 'In the Flow with Affion Crockett' (Sundays, 9:30PM on Fox).

In this week's episode, A.J. claimed he slept with Sexy Janet from up the block. "I put this on my mom," he said, making his wager. In the moment of truth, Sexy Janet came on the show to verify A.J.'s claim. She denied it. A.J. lost his bet, and his mom, to his competitor, Reggie.

Obama and Palin Party Hard on Premiere of 'In the Flow with Affion Crockett' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 15th 2011 2:43AM
'In the Flow with Affion Crockett' series premiereA new sketch comedy show premiered this weekend, picking up the reigns from 'In Living Color' and 'Chappelle's Show.' In fact, on 'In the Flow with Affion Crockett' (Sun., 9PM ET on FOX), Crockett even had relatives of Chappelle and the Wayans on to make it official, sort of. They were on right before he showed us his send-up of Chappelle.

As you would expect with a sketch comedy show, the quality of the shorts varied dramatically. We loved the guest spots by Snoop Dogg, Russell Simmons and Samuel L. Jackson throughout the back-to-back installments we got in this premiere, but for every funny bit like Snoop Dogg in an 'Avatar' send-up, there were disappointing misfires like the arrogant gospel singer.

Affion Crockett Previews His New Sketch Comedy Show 'In the Flow' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 12th 2011 3:00PM
Affion Crockett on 'Good Day New York'Never heard of Affion Crockett? That might change after the premiere of 'In the Flow With Affion Crockett,' (Sundays, 9PM ET on Fox) a new sketch comedy show produced by Jamie Foxx. Crockett talked about the show and his comedy career Friday on 'Good Day New York' (weekdays, 9AM ET on Fox).

Crockett has been mostly a supporting player in films like 'Soul Men' and 'Dance Flick,' as weel as providing voices for 'The Boondocks.' He's been a working comedian and made his mark on 'Nick Cannon Presents: Wild N' Out' and on YouTube with impressions of Barack Obama and Jay-Z. "I wanted to make it more into a sketch situation with make-up and scenarios and all of that," he said, comparing his 'Wild N' Out' work to 'In the Flow.'

Jamie Foxx Returning to Fox

by Scott Harris, posted Mar 29th 2010 10:30AM
When we first heard the news that Jamie Foxx was developing a new television show, we thought the same thing you did: Boy, he's really getting into this 'Laverne and Shirley' remake. (Which his reps have since denied.) But as it turns out, while his latest project does feature the return of a classic series, it's one that is perhaps a bit more understandable for Foxx: 'In Living Color.'

Well, sort of. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Foxx is teaming with former 'In Living Color' writers Fax Bahr and Adam Small to develop a new "urban-flavored sketch-comedy show" for Fox.

Foxx, of course, rose to super-stardom thanks to his role on 'In Living Color,' which ran from 1990-1994, while Bahr and Small went on to create Fox's seminal sketch series 'MADtv.'

MTV orders sketch comedy from Nick Cannon

by Anna Johns, posted Oct 2nd 2006 4:22PM
nick cannonMTV is giving sketch comedy another whirl, this time with actor/rapper/comedian Nick Cannon at the helm. The new show is part of a production deal that MTV signed with Cannon just before the third season of his improv show, Nick Cannon Presents Wild 'N Out, premiered in August on the network. The new sketch show is called Nick Cannon Presents: Short Circuitz (I guess name recognition is a big deal for him). MTV has ordered eight half-hour episodes, to air in early 2007. Supporting cast members include Taran Killam (Nobody's Watching), Katt Williams, Leonard Robinson, Eliza Coupe, and Affion Crockett. The show includes the usual sketch ingredients of impersonations, parodies and comedic spins on topical issues.
