Craig Ferguson and Aisha Tyler Talk Porn and Barbara Walters (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 29th 2011 5:30AM
As soon as Aisha Tyler declared that porn was upsetting and she'd rather move on to another topic, you knew they were going to be talking porn on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS).Craig Ferguson said that his biggest issue with porn is in the framing. "I don't think you're meant to see it that close," he said.
But when Tyler suggested they use the soft-texture overlay you tend to see on Barbara Walters interview specials, Ferguson took off in another direction. "Barbara Walters porn!" he shouted. "I'd pay to see that!"
'The Talk' is Coming to New York City
by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 10th 2011 6:20PM
First Conan O'Brien, now the ladies of 'The Talk' -- obviously, New York is the place to be for television personalities. The hosts of the CBS daytime talkshow are coming to New York City for a week of special episodes shot on location in the city. This will be the first time co-hosts Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler will host the show on location.
"Just in time for the December holidays, we are taking 'The Talk' to New York City," co-host Julie Chen said on-air. "Now, there is no place like New York during the holidays, so we thought that would be the perfect time to take the show on the road."
Aisha Tyler Tapped to Co-Host 'The Talk'
by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 23rd 2011 9:15PM
'The Talk' has had its fair share of changes and casting shake-ups in the year it's been on CBS -- first Marissa Jaret Winokur left, then Sharon Osbourne announced she needed some time off this fall and, most recently, Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete were given the boot. Now Deadline is reporting that actress-comedian Aisha Tyler has been tapped to co-host 'The Talk.' Tyler will join Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne and another new co-host Sheryl Underwood at the 'Talk' table starting tomorrow.
Tyler guest hosted on 'The Talk' for a week at the end of September alongside fellow newbie Underwood. Other celebrities stopped by to fill the chairs, including Kris Jenner and Molly Shannon, but obviously producers liked the chemistry with Tyler and Underwood enough to offer them full-time seats on the show.

'Archer' - 'Dial M for Mother' Recap (Season Finale)
by Annie Wu, posted Mar 19th 2010 2:11PM

(S01E10) Whoa, whoa, whoa. Did 'Archer' just get sentimental on us for a split second? It was an almost stealthy move. Sure, the season finale wrapped up with Mallory calling her son an ass but it was... sweet. Considering the whole super-spy nature of the show, the rest of the finale wasn't very action-packed. Instead, the focus remained on Archer and Mallory's relationship and the sick, twisted world of ISIS office romances. I think the picture accompanying this post pretty much sums that part up.
Overall, though, this was one of my favorite episodes from the series so far, with a lot of laugh-out-loud moments. And I'm sure you didn't realize we needed a new "Schwing!" but let's pretend that's what "Sploosh" (with the little hand motion) is going to be.
'Archer' - 'Job Offer' Recap
by Annie Wu, posted Mar 12th 2010 1:04PM

(S01E09) Just one more episode to go before 'Archer' wraps up its ten-episode run. It will be interesting to see if FX brings it back for another season. The show's super-spy universe really lends itself to further exploration, but the characters' tangled web of sexual tension and missing fathers may not hold up for another ten episodes. It's a small cast of main characters, and the back-and-forth nature can only last so long. [Edit: 'Archer' has been renewed. I knew that. I was totally just testing you guys. Totally.]
Maybe some new problems will be introduced in the finale, leaving us begging for more. Or maybe everyone will die in a fiery, sexy explosion. Y'never know.
FX Renews 'Archer'
by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 23rd 2010 12:03PM

'Archer,' the new animated spy spoof on FX, hasn't exactly been destroying the competition in the ratings, but it has gotten enough viewers and critical acclaim and the network has given it a second season.
This makes me extremely happy. The show isn't as laugh out loud funny as I hoped it would be (though it has had some laugh out loud moments for sure), but I love the entire concept, a modern take on the classic '60s spy genre. It's like a really irreverent, dirty 'In Like Flint.'
The voice work (by H. Jon Benjamin, Jessica Walter, Chris Parnell, Judy Greer, and Aisha Tyler, among others) is perfect, and one of its funnier aspects is how most of the characters aren't even that likable. 'Archer' has created a world I want to get to know better (and that's a good thing, especially in a cartoon).
This season had ten episodes and FX has ordered thirteen for the second season, which means they have faith in this show. We'll have to wait until 2011 for the new episodes though.
'Archer' - 'Skytanic' Recap
by Annie Wu, posted Feb 19th 2010 2:25PM

(S01E07) In this kind of, sort of action-packed episode of 'Archer,' the screwed-up relationships between characters really picked up speed. Drama is always heightened when you're stuck with your ex and your unfaithful current beau in a ticking time bomb of a blimp -- er, rigid airship.
It will be interesting to see how much longer they can go on without addressing Cyril's affair with Cheryl/Carol/what's-her-face. The show is only set to run for ten episodes, so it's not unimaginable that they could leave the big reveal for the final episode. And we can assume it will be big because we all saw what Lana did even when Archer and Cyril were just training together.
'Archer' - 'Skorpio' Recap
by Annie Wu, posted Feb 12th 2010 11:45AM

(S01E06) This week's episode involved yet another super-spy mission and drugs and chocolate fountains, but the main focus was really the always-hot drama bubbling under the surface amongst the employees of ISIS.
So, Lana's off to take on another mission, this time with the extra-hairy arms dealer, Skorpio. Malory has also scampered away under some business-y business pretenses but she's really hanging out with her KGB lover, Nikolai, on his Chum Guzzler. That leaves Cyril and the rest of the ISIS crew to hang around in the office and not do work. Of course, office gossip ensues and we're left knowing a little too much about certain characters.
Review: 'Archer' - 'The Honey Pot'
by Annie Wu, posted Feb 5th 2010 12:45PM

(S01E05) Y'know the way you've been frantically scribbling in your diary for the past few years about how badly you want to see Thomas Lennon and Ron Perlman voice animated characters together? Yeah. I bet you thought you would keep writing forever. But 'Archer' sensed the secret wish in your tear-stained pages and made it a reality.
This episode wasn't quite as rapid-fire funny as some of the previous ones but it was still fantastic. It's clear that the writers are having a lot of fun with the characters, even the ones that pop up for only one mission.
Review: Archer - Killing Utne
by Annie Wu, posted Jan 29th 2010 12:30AM

(S01E04) Ah, yes. Yet another fine episode of Archer. This show has been steadily funny, which is good. I'm still waiting for it to do something outrageous and surprise us with a particularly extra-hilarious or an especially terrible episode, but I don't mind watching something that I can rely on for decent laughs, even if it doesn't leave me rolling on the floor.
5 Reasons 'Archer' Is the Funniest New Comedy on TV
by Sharon Knolle, posted Jan 28th 2010 12:45PM
After Austin Powers, Maxwell Smart and who knows how many other take-offs on James Bond, do we really need another spy spoof? If you're talking 'Archer,' FX's hilarious new animated series, then yes, yes we do.Picture it as 'Mad Men,' if the opening graphics were the whole show, and it wasn't about Sterling Cooper, New York ad agency, but Sterling Archer, ISIS intelligence agent. And if it were a whole lot sillier. And more crass.
Or maybe it's more like old-school Hanna-Barbera adventure series 'Jonny Quest,' but with actual swear words and zero life lessons.
Here are five excellent reasons why you should be tuning in ...
Review: Archer - Diversity Hire
by Annie Wu, posted Jan 22nd 2010 2:02AM

(S01E03) Considering Archer's previous episodes, the title "Diversity Hire" should have allowed you plenty of time to prepare yourself for lots of groan-worthy racial jokes. And yeah, that was definitely what we got. Overall, it was a pretty solid episode; the thirty minutes really went by in a blur because those jokes came rapid-fire.
This week, the ISIS lost yet another non-white agent and needed to make a diversity hire to get some sweet tax action (or not get tax action, I guess). Enter, Conway Stern, a black Jewish agent who is so nice and efficient, it is borderline suspicious.
Review: Archer - Training Day
by Annie Wu, posted Jan 15th 2010 3:02PM

(S01E02) FX, those bunch of sneaky so-and-sos. Their new hot piece of animated action was set to premiere Thursday night, but instead of airing the "Mole Hunt" episode that quietly previewed after It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia a few months ago, they pulled a fast one and showed an all-new episode first. I guess "Training Day" is to be considered the proper series premiere at this point? Even if it's really the second episode? Question mark?
If you'd rather hang on and revisit "Mole Hunt," our own Jonathan Toomey took care of that. Here, we're going to take a look at "Training Day."
The Show Girl Sounds Off on 'The Deep End,' 'Archer,' '24' and 'Nip/Tuck' - VIDEO
by Maggie Furlong, posted Jan 15th 2010 1:30PM
You've got questions? I've got answers. I'm The Show Girl! This week, I have a preview of ABC's new legal dramedy 'The Deep End' -- which is sort of like 'Grey's Anatomy' at a law firn -- straight from stars Billy Zane and Tina Majorino. I also get funny lady Aisha Tyler to beg another 'Arrested Development' alum (they already have two!) to come on her new animated comedy 'Archer.'
Then there's Katee Sackhoff. She's officially my new favorite actress, and now she's on '24,' but her answer to my sort of controversial 'Nip/Tuck' question -- why did they get all soap opera-y and keep your character but replace you with Rose McGowan? -- is equal parts lovely and hilarious.
Want more? Email me TV questions at TheTVShowGirl@aol.com -- who knows, I might just give you an answer on the show. Now watch, enjoy and come back next week for more. Until then, happy TV watching! -- By Maggie Furlong
