by Chris Harnick, posted Jul 25th 2011 2:00PM
Marvel Comics is having a superb summer at the box office, but that hasn't kept them from aggressively continuing TV development. At Comic-Con 2011, Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel's TV division, revealed new details about 'AKA Jessica Jones' and 'Cloak & Dagger,' and announced 'Mockingbird' for ABC Family. As we previously reported, Marvel and Disney are working on a bevy of projects for both ABC and ABC Family.
According to Comic Book Resources, ABC's 'AKA Jessica Jones' will feature Marvel superheros Luke Cage and Carol Danvers alongside Jessica Jones. The show, based on Brian Michael Bendis's 'Alias' comic book about a superhero-turned private eye, is still in development at ABC.
Casting Marvel and ABC's 'AKA Jessica Jones'
by Chris Harnick, posted Dec 31st 2010 3:00PM
To bring Jessica Jones to life, ABC needs a talented actress who can pull off snarky, yet wounded. What's 'The Good Wife' without Julianna Margulies? Not the same that's for sure. Whoever ABC casts in 'AKA Jessica Jones' must be able to have the same thing said for her.The Marvel Comics character Jessica Jones used to be called Jewel and Knightress and possesses the abilities of flight, super strength and physical resistance. The TV version of the character has been described by Variety as "deeply flawed with a biting sense of humor."
Melissa Rosenberg of 'Dexter' and 'Twilight' fame is writing the series that follows Jessica Jones, a former superhero who retires after suffering post-traumatic disorder. She decides to open up a private detective agency and helps superheroes.
Brian Michael Bendis created the character in the series 'Alias,' under Marvel's MAX line. He'll act as a consultant on the series, so hopefully comic fans will get a taste of screwed up Jessica Jones they came to love.
So, settle into your casting chair and let's help Marvel and ABC get started!
