Alfre Woodard Hasn't Worn Underwear Since the '70s (VIDEO)
Here's a little something you probably didn't know about Alfre Woodard, the former 'True Blood' and current 'Memphis Beat' actress. She hasn't worn underwear since the early 70s. Tuesday she felt like sharing, and told the ladies of 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) that she "lives commando.""It really did start out sort of as a comfort thing, and then it got to be a hygiene thing," she said. "It keeps you from getting all ... incubating a bunch of stuff up there." Put more simply, "You give your crotch sunlight," she said.
The revelation shocked her mother, she said. But Woodard has been careful. Going commando takes a bit of adjustment. "You just have to learn how to sit," she said, "you don't go flopping around." There's nothing quite like oversharing on daytime TV.
The Stars of 'Memphis Beat' Talk Singing, Policing & Shooting in New Orleans (VIDEO)
When you get asked to go to New Orleans for work, you say yes. How could anyone pass up an opportunity to visit such an amazing town? The stars of TNT's new show 'Memphis Beat' must agree with me -- contrary to the show's title, they're busy shooting in the Big Easy.I hit the set of the show on the absolute perfect day: they were filming a birthday party scene at a bar in Algiers that's been used in movies like 'Ray' and other series like 'Treme.' The atmosphere was festive and the cast -- including Jason Lee, Alfre Woodard, DJ Qualls, Sam Hennings, Abraham Benrubi and Leonard Earl Howze -- and creators Joshua Harto and Liz Garcia took the time to sit down and give me all kinds of fun scoop on the show.
Take a look at the interviews to find out more about 'Memphis Beat,' which Lee sums up perfectly as "a downhome southern cop show," before it premieres (Tues., June 22, 10PM ET on TNT).
'Memphis Beat' Preview: Jason Lee's Got the Blues

Welcome back, Jason Lee! After 'My Name Is Earl' faded away in 2009, Lee disappeared from TV sets to go play with Alvin, Simon and Theodore in the 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' movie, but now he's back on TV. He hasn't come back empty-handed, this time Lee has a badge.
'Memphis Beat' follows Lee as Detective Dwight Hendricks, a cop with close relationships with his mother and his city. He also happens to have a passion for the blues.
Alfre Woodard to Guest Star on 'True Blood'
The most well-traveled actress in series television is about to visit 'True Blood.'Fresh off the cancellation of her last gig, CBS' 'Three Rivers,' Alfre Woodard is headed to HBO, where she'll play Lafayette's (actess Nelsan Ellis) mom on Alan Ball's hit vampire series, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Woodard, an Oscar nominee for 1982's 'Cross Creek' and an Emmy winner for a guest spot on 'The Practice,' has had no problem finding work over the last few years.
Alfre Woodard Sings the 'Delta Blues'
Alfre Woodard is the latest addition to 'Delta Blues,' the TNT pilot executive produced by George Clooney. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that she will play a tough police lieutenant who attempts to exert her will over her subordinates, especially Dwight Hendricks (Jason Lee). From Warner Horizon and Smokehouse, in conjunction with Clooney, 'Delta Blues' will follow the life of Dwight who spends his days on the force and nights as an Elvis impersonator. As we recently reported, Jason Lee has accepted the role of Dwight, while Sam Hennings, Robyn Lively and Leonard Howze will play Dwight's partner, ex-wife and co-worker, respectively. Celia Weston rounds off the cast as Dwight's mother, with whom he lives.

Why am I still watching My Own Worst Enemy?
This has nothing to do with the quality of the show. I like it. But I'm wondering why I keep watching it week after week when NBC has already canceled it.It's not the first time that I've watched a TV show that has been canceled. And I think that fans should keep watching the remaining episodes of a TV show that has been canceled, out of loyalty if nothing else. But it takes real loyalty to watch a canceled show that has a continuing mystery at its core, which My Own Worst Enemy has.
Alfre Woodard joins new Christian Slater series
Alfre Woodard has an exciting new role on the upcoming NBC drama My Own Worst Enemy. The Emmy winner is set to play Christian Slater's boss in the spy series, which premieres this fall. If you followed TV Squad's coverage of the upfronts, you already know that the drama focuses on a man (Slater) living two different lives: the life of an ordinary suburban father named Henry and the life of a spy named Edward. Woodard's character, Mavis Heller, is Edward's "tough and astute boss" at headquarters. Like Edward, Mavis is leading a double life as well. Her alter ego, Helen, will be a part of Henry's suburban existence. My Own Worst Enemy premieres on Monday, September 29.
Gay couple moves onto Wisteria Lane
As mentioned in today's SA, in an interview with AfterElton.com, Marc Cherry confirmed that a gay couple will be the newest residents on Desperate Housewives next season.
The couple will move into the house vacated by Betty Applewhite (Alfre Woodard) next door to Teri Hatcher's character, Susan. As you can guess, Susan gets off to a rocky start with the new neighbors by putting her foot in her mouth and inadvertently insulting them right away.
Sissy Spacek to star in CBS TV movie
Sissy Spacek is set to star in Pictures of Hollis Woods, a Hallmark Hall of Fame TV movie based on the book by Patricia Reilly Giff. The movie tells the story of Hollis Woods (Jodelle Ferland), an artistic twelve year old girl who is adopted by an art teacher, Josie (Spacek), who cares for Hollis. Josie's trouble with remembering things gets worse and worse until Hollis is faced with the task of caring for her. Alfre Woodward plays the social worker assigned to the young girl, who is taken from foster home to foster home before ending up with Josie.
Ann Peacock (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) wrote the screenplay. Tony Bill (Untamed Heart, Flyboys) will direct. The movie has been greenlit, though no premiere date was mentioned.
Spacek was last seen on television, I believe, in the TV movie Last Call, about the final days of writer F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Desperate Housewives: The video game?
Call me crazy, but I think Disney may have its demographics
messed up. It is creating a computer video game based on Desperate Housewives. The player will take on the
role of a new housewife and uncover or create new scandals. Brenda Strong, who plays Mary Alice on the live-action
show, has already signed on with Disney to do a voice on the game. The other cast members are in negotiations.I think I'd create a nasty housewife who befriends Gabrielle and feeds her lots of food that she swears is fat free, so Gabrielle gains a bunch of weight and no one wants her. What kind of scandal would you create on DH?
Hola, Desperate Housewives
Some South
American countries will soon be getting their own Desperate Housewives. Buena Vista Television Latin America
is creating Spanish and Portuguese versions of the hit ABC show, complete with their own casts. The Spanish version,
called Amas de Casas Desesperades, will air in Colombia, Argentina, and Ecuador while the Portuguese version,
called Donas de Casas Desesperades will air in Brazil. Buena Vista says the soap opera-like show is so similar
to the Spanish telenovelas that it's bound to be a big hit. There are some cultural differences that will be changed in
the show. For instance, the Spanish creators of the show said they'll have to change the occupation of the 'Mike'
character because, in South America, there's no way a plumber would live in an exclusive community. Hey, what is that
plumber doing there anyway?TV Squad Hot Topics
