More reality coming to BET

Lil KimMany people were hoping that Reginald Hudlin, the director (House Party, Boomerang, Bebe's Kids) that became head of Black Entertainment Television about ten months ago, would bring some excitement and original programming to the network. But as this Boston Globe piece points out, what he's bringing to the network so far is reality shows and documentaries, such as American Gangster, which will profile famous black criminals; a boxing show; an erotic anthology series; and reality shows starring DMX, Keyshia Cole, and football player Vince Young.

Some people aren't happy with the moves, but BET has had its best ratings in this first quarter of 2006 (thanks to the reality series with Lil Kim, right).
