Anderson Cooper Describes Getting Attacked by Pro-Mubarak Mob in Egypt (VIDEO)
Anderson Cooper and his CNN film crew were attacked Wednesday by supporters of embattled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak while reporting on the mass protests in Egypt.
Speaking on 'American Morning' (weekdays, 6 AM ET on CNN), Cooper described how he and his crew were punched multiple times in the head after being descended upon by a pro-Mubarak mob:
"It was pandemonium, there was no control to it. Suddenly, a young man would come up, look at you, and punch you right in the face. The instinct is to try to punch back, or push back, but in a situation like that, you really can't because that just inflames the crowd more. So all we could do is walk as quickly as possible, stick together, and seek a safe location."
Marc Cherry Preps 'Hallelujah,' ABC's Heidi Jones Arrested and More
Can Marc Cherry do for faith what he did for the suburban housewife? The 'Desperate Housewives' creator is at work on a new series, 'Hallelujah,' based on a small town that is being torn apart by the forces of good and evil. According to Variety, things change in Hallelujah, Tenn. when a stranger comes to town and brings in peace, justice and faith.
Cherry has been with 'Desperate Housewives' since its launch in 2004 and is contracted until 2013, but the stars are only signed until the end of this season. The creator also has a two-year deal with ABC.

• A&E has ordered pilots for two hour-long dramas. 'Big Mike,' from Happy Madison and Sony Pictures TV, follows a plus-sized detective with the San Diego Police Department. He's an ace detective with a crappy romantic life. The other project, 'Longmire,' is based on the 'Walt Longmire Mystery' novels by Craig Johnson, about a small-town sheriff. [Deadline Hollywood]
CNN drops space and science; Miles O'Brien looking for a job
After 16 years, Miles O'Brien is leaving CNN.The reason? CNN has decided to get rid of their science/tech/environment/space division, because nothing ever happens in science, technology, the environment, or space. The network says that they're getting rid of the division because the "Planet in Peril" series already covers all of that stuff, and they'll just integrate the rest of the science coverage into their regular news. Translation: more cost-cutting in the news business.
It's kind of sad to see O'Brien go. Just a couple of years ago he was the co-host of American Morning with Soledad O'Brien, and then he lost that gig and went back to covering space and technology, and now that coverage is gone. It was always good to have him around for space shuttle launches and for his expertise when their was a problem with a plane or a plane crash.
I'm sure they'll still cover space shuttle launches, but now they'll be hosted by D.L. Hughley and Nancy Grace. (Kidding)
The O'Briens are leaving American Morning
TV Week is reporting that CNN will make an official annoucement today about the fate of their morning show American Morning and the show's anchors, Miles O'Brien and Soledad O'Brien (from now on referred to as "The O'Briens.")
The two anchors are leaving the CNN program (ratings are down) and they are expected to be replaced by John Roberts and Kiran Chetry. If you're not sure about that name, Kiran Chetry is a woman who used to be on FOX News Channel's Fox & Friends. John Roberts came over to CNN last year and is, of course, a man.
