Shannon Refuses to Pose in Lingerie on 'America's Next Top Model' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 15th 2011 8:35AM
'ANTM'Shannon Stewart's been on 'America's Next Top Model' (Wed., 9PM ET on The CW) before, and that time around she had to pose in lingerie, which made her feel uncomfortable: "That's not the way I want to be portrayed."

This time around Shannon feels more confident about asserting herself and so she refuses to wear a pair of lace panties for an exterior shoot, opting instead to don a pair of teeny-tiny bikini bottoms.

What's confusing the heck out of photo shoot director Jay Manuel is that she should have been wearing the panties over the bikini bottoms in the first place anyway. "Are you that uncomfortable wearing it on top?" he asks.

But Shannon won't budge. That's who she is, and she'd rather give it all up and go home than do something she's not comfortable with.

What to Watch: TV Picks for September 12 - 18

by Stephanie Earp, posted Sep 12th 2011 9:00PM
Survivor: South Pacific - Wednesday September 14, 8PM ET/PT, CBS/Global

'Survivor' returns, looking a lot like last season. The Redemption Island twist is back, as are two previous castaways, Coach and Ozzy. Which is a far cry from Rob and Russell, but I can see why the producers would be eager to reproduce the experiment that led to such an interesting game last time. Another round of Coach wisdom is just about the last thing I was hoping for but I imagine he'll get himself voted off pretty quick. The other thing that hasn't changed -- the prize is still a million dollars. It makes you wonder when they're gonna get a cost-of-living or inflation raise on this show.

by Jason Hughes, posted May 19th 2011 12:36AM
Molly & Brittani, 'America's Next Top Model' season finaleAnother season of 'America's Next Top Model' (Wed., 9PM ET on CW) came to a close as Tyra Banks dramatically revealed the winner of this season's competition. Would it be Molly, the adopted girl who struggled with abandonment? Or Brittani, who came from a trailer park and wears her emotions ... well all over the place?

!!SPOILER ALERT!!

In this final episode, the girls had a shoot for Covergirl and another one for 'Vogue Italia.' But perhaps the most memorable moment came during a fashion show celebrating "Anglomania."

"There's these damned rose petals and your shoes are so slippy, like your shoe always like kind of glides on them," Brittani said as preface to one of the harder falls we've ever seen on 'ANTM.' Brittani slipped, tried to catch herself and failed completely.

It Takes Brains to Win 'America's Next Top Model,' So the Girls Eat Some (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 5th 2011 12:39AM
Top Four, 'America's Next Top Model'The final four contestants on 'America's Next Top Model' (Wed., 9PM ET on The CW) continued their stay in Morocco this week. While walking the streets and enjoying the experience of being abroad, they decided to take a moment to celebrate their achievement in the game.

The stopped at a nearby restaurant and were both horrified and delighted to see goat heads, eyeballs and brains on display. If you're in another culture, why not step outside of your comfort zone and truly experience that environment.

That's what the girls decided to do, as they each ordered up a plate of brains. Then in unison and with a shout of "Top Four!" they sampled their purchases and then we got to watch their faces as they processed what was going on in their mouths.

The Girls Are Unprepared for the Animals in Morocco on 'Next Top Model' (VIDEO)

Brittani, 'America's Next Top Model'You never know what kinds of reactions you're going to get when you take Americans around the world. The cultures are so different that you never know what to expect. That's why it's always fun when shows like 'America's Next Top Model' (Wed., 9PM ET on CW) take their contestants completely out of their comfort zones.

Brittani, in particular, who is proud of her humble heritage in Pennsylvania was surprised by the snakes in the marketplace of Marrakesh, Morocco. "Where I'm from, it's really country," she said. "It's really hick . You see a snake, you kill it, you skin it, and you eat it."

Where Have I Seen That 'Glee' 'Born This Way' Plot Before?

by Jean Bentley, posted Apr 27th 2011 12:20PM
GleeThey say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If that's true, then a bunch of writers are probably feeling extra good about themselves after last night's episode of 'Glee.'

Listen, self-acceptance is a great message to promote, especially to teenagers. But I can't shake the deja vu feeling that settled in while I watched the super-sized 'Born This Way' tribute. Those self-acceptance storylines were just so ... familiar.

A little too familiar, if you ask me.

Here are three plot points from last night's episode, and three places I've seen them done before.

1. Aspiring star considers plastic surgery = 'Degrassi'
I suppose it's not hard for a high-school show to tread the same ground as Canadian institution 'Degrassi,' especially since the long-running, issues-focused show is filming its eleventh season. During 'Degrassi''s fifth season, aspiring actress Manny considered a boob job to further her career, much like Rachel considered a nose job during last night's 'Glee.' Luckily, neither girl ended up going through with the procedure.

Getting Lost Leads to Elimination on 'America's Next Top Model' (VIDEO)

Tyra Banks, 'America's Next Top Model'One day and four destinations in four hours proved to be too much for several of the contestants on 'America's Next Top Model' (Wed., 8PM ET on The CW). Only Alexandria, who's a Los Angeles native, had no problem hitting the four Go-Sees in the allotted time.

Alexandria had a great week, as she sailed through every challenge, booked every job and even got high praise from the judges, while the other contestants shot daggers at her from behind their smiling eyes.

It was important for the girls who struggled at the Go-Sees challenge to own the photo shoot at the dump. Look good in a garbage dump, or be shipped out with the trash. Who didn't make the cut this week?

Brittani Gets Scolded, Tyra Gets Outvoted on 'America's Next Top Model' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 7th 2011 2:08AM
Brittani, 'America's Next Top Model'Did you feel sorry for Alexandria this week? After nearly terrorizing the other girls all season, it was Alexandria's turn for some of her own medicine as the girls ganged up on her at the photo shoot on 'America's Next Top Model' (Wed., 8PM ET on The CW).

But it was Brittani who came on the strongest, and it was she who faced the wrath of Tyra Banks. While Banks did say a few words to chastise Brittani for her behavior, which Banks said made her "unattractive," she used most of the time to try really, really hard and convince us that 'ANTM' is not a monarchy.

"People think that on 'America's Next Top Model,' I'm the only person that makes a decision," she said to the girls. "That is not the case. It has never been the case. And this week, I was outvoted."

'America's Next Top Model' Season 16, Episode 6 Recap

by Alaina O'Connor, posted Mar 31st 2011 4:30AM
'America's Next Top Model' S16/E06['America's Next Top Model' - 'Sonia Dara']

This week on 'America's Next Top Model' it was the blondes vs. the brunettes as the final eight girls were pitted against each other in what can only be described as a very dirty situation. There have been a lot of group photos this season -- in fact, I'm pretty sure the majority of the shoots have been with two or more girls -- and I have to wonder why.

Still, this shoot was one of my favorites. I think the girls looked amazing covered in mud. The judges agreed that the brunettes were much more high fashion than the blondes, who were clearly more commercial. Brittani killed it this week. I believe Nigel called her, "electric," and she won best photo.

A Creepy Fan Wants a Kiss From One of the Girls on 'America's Next Top Model' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 31st 2011 2:30AM
Creepy guy, 'America's Next Top Model'You can't blame a guy for ... trying? To us it looked more like this guy was channeling the 'SNL' digital short 'The Creep' when he was meeting the contestants of 'America's Next Top Model' (Wed., 8PM ET on The CW). But you have to admit that he was persistent, though we're not sure if that was a positive trait or a negative one in this case.

"You're funny," Alexandria said of his antics, but we think she was only saying that because she couldn't come out and say, "You're creepy."

He started by talking to Monique and offering to help her get some work on websites -- we can only imagine. When he asked her to write "I'm a good kisser" on her picture, she suggested that Alexandria might do that.
