Final Two Crews Battle for the Vote on 'America's Best Dance Crew' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 3rd 2011 3:14AM
ICONic Boyz & I aM mE, 'America's Best Dance Crew'The final two crews battled it out for ultimately supremacy in their last ditch effort to secure enough votes to win 'America's Best Dance Crew' (Thu., 10PM ET on MTV). The winner will be crowned this Sunday at 7:30PM ET in a special finale just before the 'MTV Movie Awards.'

All season long, I.aM.mE and ICONic Boyz have battled it out individually, rising to the top of the heap based on viewers' votes. But this time, they hit the stage together in a fun performance that saw them poking fun at each other's crews and styles.

And I.aM.mE got more than a few jabs in at how young the members of ICONic Boyz are, most ranging from 11-13 years old.

Phunk Phenomenon Slows It Down And Flips It Up on 'ABDC' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 22nd 2011 5:49AM
Phunk Phenomenon, 'America's Best Dance Crew'Back again for the second time, Phunk Phenomenon turned up the energy and brought a whole different level of moves on 'Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew' (Thu., 10PM ET on MTV). Not only were they hitting their tricks hard, but they were giving us intricacies the untrained eye might not even see.

That's why 'ABDC' has those judges, and even uses the slo-mo technique so they can make sure we are aware of just how great some of these moves are. That way we can not only enjoy the performances, but we can become more educated viewers as well and thus gain an even greater appreciation of the art form.

JC Chasez was particularly impressed with Phunk Phenomenon's footwork on the ground. And when they busted out a slow motion movement of their own, we were all taken aback.

The Youngest Crew on 'ABDC' Reveals Killer Moves and Killer Abs (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 15th 2011 2:38AM
ICONic Boyz, 'America's Best Dance Crew'The premiere of Season 6 of 'America's Best Dance Crew' (Thu., 10PM ET on MTV) continued this week, with the five remaining finalists hitting the stage with their takes on the hits of Ke$ha. But one group in particular stole the night with a nod to another MTV superstar, Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino.

ICONic Boyz is a kid dance crew, but there's nothing juvenile about their moves or musical interpretation.

On 'Your Love Is My Drug,' the boys sampled in a few words from 'The Situation' and one of them even lifted his shirt to reveal a "situation" of his own. It was a charmingly hilarious moment that showed a lot of personality for the young crew.

'Tight Eyez' and Street Kingdom Bring Krumping to 'America's Best Dance Crew' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 8th 2011 1:06AM
Ceasare 'Tight Eyez' Willis & Street Kingdom, 'Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew' season premiereWhen 'America's Best Dance Crew' (Thu., 10PM ET on MTV) decided it was time to bring krumping to the stage in a big way, they did it the right way. Ceasare 'Tight Eyez' Willis is one of the co-developers of the dance movement. Along with his crew, Street Kingdom, 'Tight Eyez' represented for himself and his movement on the show.

That means an opportunity to see krumping at its purest and rawest, and it was every bit of that as the crew pounded the stage with energy, anger and movements that are both intimidating and intoxicating to watch.

D-Trix, the newest member of the judging panel and a former contestant, knows exactly what a big moment this was. "For years we tried to have krump on reality TV," he said. "But only at 'America's Best Dance Crew' can we get Tight Eyez and the Street Kingdom here on this stage tonight."

Poreotix Wins 'America's Best Dance Crew' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Apr 9th 2010 4:30AM
Poreotix Win 'America's Best Dance Crew'It was an international showdown on the 'America's Best Dance Crew' season 5 finale (Thu., 10PM ET on MTV) last night: Poreotix, a robotic group hailing from Westminster, Calif., versus Canada's the Blueprint Cru. "Fifteen million votes were cast and this is the narrowest margin of victory in 'ABDC' history," said host Mario Lopez.

Before the winner was announced, the two street dance crews united to perform a high energy step routine together. But there could be only one winner of the $100,000 prize ...

The champions? Poreotix! Do you think they are the rightful winners? Check out their moves.

Flaming Jump Ropes Rock 'America's Best Dance Crew' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 12th 2010 3:06AM
America's Best Dance Crew, Flaming Jump RopesOmarion said pretty much what we were thinking while watching the flaming jump ropes on 'Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew' (Thu., 10PM ET on MTV).

"What I'm thinking to myself while I'm watching it is, if they mess up this fire, there's somebody ass is gonna be on fire." Yeah, seriously. Props to the fire jumpers.

Then again, those jackets look flame retardant, so maybe it wouldn't have been a complete blaze of glory. And Gabourey Sidibe looked like she loved it.

Jungle Boogie Rocks 'America's Best Dance Crew'! (VIDEO)

America's Best Dance Crew, Jungle BoogieIt may not have been the best performance of the night (weigh in with your opinion!), but Jungle Boogie's was definitely the most provocative on 'Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew' (Thu., 10PM ET on MTV).

And some of those moves? Not humanly possible. Yep, some of those folks are freaks of nature – in a good way.

"The upside down bit was a bit clumsy, but the commitment to the naughty was nice," said JC Chasez. Couldn't have said it better ourselves.

Two Hot Performances on 'America's Best Dance Crew' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 5th 2010 5:22AM
America's Best Dance CrewHere's a couple of red-hot performances from 'America's Best Dance Crew' (Thurs., 10PM ET on MTV). The first features a wild number that looks like a cross between the Robot and Michael Jackson's 'Thriller.'

Then holy cow, out came the jump ropes, along with some killer moves that required precise timing to pull off. From where we stand, either one of these would make the grade.

Did Randy Jackson Steal the Idea for 'America's Best Dance Crew'?

by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 3rd 2010 5:02PM
Randy JacksonThis seems to be the day for TV litigation. First we told you about that lawsuit brought by the creator of 'MacGyver' to stop the release of the new 'MacGruber' film, and now we have a lawsuit brought against 'American Idol' judge Randy Jackson.

It's not about the hit FOX show, though, it's about MTV's 'America's Best Dance Crew.' A man says that Jackson and MTV stole the idea for the show from him. He says that he pitched the show, which had the unfortunate name of 'International Breakerz League,' back in 2004 and got an "implied contract" from MTV. Nothing happened with that show and then Jackson's dance show premiered in 2008. The man is suing both Jackson and MTV for $2,000,000.

These lawsuits hardly ever work out for the plaintiff, do they? A lot of times we never even hear what the result of the lawsuits are.

Omarion on Joining 'Dance Crew': "I'm Sexier Than Simon" Cowell

by Anna Dimond, posted Jan 28th 2010 3:30PM
Omarion'America's Best Dance Crew' returns to MTV tonight at 10PM ET with dance crews from every corner of the country ready to throw down their moves and make their marks in the competition. High-energy and swelling with catchy beats, the show is kicking off its fifth season of pitting groups of young, hip-hop influenced dancers against each other for the top honors (and a cash prize).

This season, R&B wunderkind Omarion is joining 'ABDC' as a judge. He's replacing choreographer Shane Sparks, who in December was arrested on felony charges of child molestation. Sparks served as a judge on 'ABDC' alongside Lil' Mama and former *NSYNC member JC Chasez since the series launched in 2008.

'America's Best Dance Crew' Season 5 Premiere Preview

by Allyssa Lee, posted Jan 28th 2010 10:00AM
Mario Lopez and Randy JacksonBreak out your poppin' fresh moves, because 'America's Best Dance Crew' is coming back to MTV. Season 5 of the Randy Jackson-produced series, which pits different dance groups against each other in order to win over a panel of judges and the voting public alike, premieres tonight at 10PM ET. This year, R&B singer Omarion will be replacing Shane Sparks as a new judge alongside regulars JC Chasez and Lil Mama.

Here's the network's rundown of the 15 new crews who'll dance off for the title of America's best. Just based on names alone, my vote would have to go for Jungle Boogie from Stone Mountain, Ga., and Hype 5-0 from Honolulu, Hawaii.

Looking at the list, who do you think has the goods to stand alongside the likes of We Are Heroes and the JabbaWockeeZ?

Oprah's real time with Christian Siriano and Adam Lambert

by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 29th 2009 8:02PM
christian_soriano_bravoIf things don't work out for Project Runway winner Christian Siriano in the fashion biz, he might want to consider a full-time gig as a talk show diva. As the number one guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show today, Christian was fierce, fun and oh-so-comfy that at times I thought Ms. O had her own little Ed McMahon or Andy Richter... but with a lot more style.

Oprah devoted the show to reality TV and the big get was Adam Lambert, the runner up in last season's American Idol. You wouldn't have guessed he was second place based on the assertion by Oprah that he was the top choice of her viewers when asked which reality star they wanted to see on her show.

I know I'm cynical, but I think it was planned. Adam's album is coming out on November 23 and there's already been lots of buzz, including the CD cover.

Mario LopezMario Lopez is a busy man.

Between his ongoing hosting duties for 'Extra' and 'America's Best Dance Crew', as well as his recurring guest role as a plastic surgeon on 'Nip/Tuck,' you wouldn't think he'd have enough time to catch his breath, much less use it to give us the inside scoop on all his upcoming projects.

Yet that's just what he did when AOL TV caught up to him recently, telling us all about the 'Saved By the Bell' reunion, the new children's book he co-wrote with his sister and his ongoing search for a new canine friend. So check out what he had to say, but watch out: you may get exhausted just reading about his amazing schedule.
