by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 30th 2011 4:30AM
Tony Bennett, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'The last recording made by Amy Winehouse before her death was her duet with Tony Bennett, now available on his 'Duets II' album. He spoke with Jon Stewart on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) about his time in the studio with her.

It must have been a tragic experience for him, because he was so moved by her voice and the quality she brought to jazz singing. But at the same time, he said he could sense that things weren't right.

"She knew that she was in a lot of trouble," he said. "That she wasn't going to live."

Amy Winehouse's Dad Breaks Down on the Series Premiere of 'Anderson' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 13th 2011 8:10AM
Mitch and Janis WinehouseSinger Amy Winehouse spent much of her short life in the public eye, enthralling fans and critics with her music, and attracting controversy for her substance abuse problems and messy personal life.

But behind the lurid headlines she was also a much-loved daughter. Her grieving parents sat down with Anderson Cooper on the series premiere of 'Anderson' (Weekdays, Syndicated) to talk about how they've been coping since her death.

Struggling to control her emotions, Amy's mom Janis comforted her ex-husband Mitch as he covered his face with a handkerchief and wept while Cooper played a clip of Amy singing 'To Know Him is to Love Him.'

The former taxi driver said they have struggled to go on since Amy died, and he broke down as he spoke of the special bond that existed between him and his daughter.

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 29th 2011 3:21AM
Britney Spears & Lady Gaga, '2011 MTV Video Music Awards'As always, the 'MTV Video Music Awards' (Sun., 9PM ET on MTV) was a spectacle of sight and sound, filled with the hottest faces and voices in popular music. Jay-Z and Kany West lit up the stage with a duet, while Mrs. Jay-Z, Beyonce, performed and revealed that the couple was expecting.

Lady Gaga presented yet another crazy costume, only this time the craziest thing about it was that she was portraying a man -- her own lover, no less. She stayed in character to present Britney Spears with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, where the pair almost kissed, but Spears said, "I've done that already."

Amy Winehouse Tried to Contact Dr. Drew In Her Final Days

by Alex Moaba, posted Jul 29th 2011 11:45AM
Amy Winehouse made unsuccessful attempts to reach out to Dr. Drew Pinsky in her final days, according to Janice Dickinson and the 'Celebrity Rehab' guru himself.

Unfortunately, it appears that Dr. Drew, who decided to step away from 'Celebrity Rehab' after this season due to his increasingly busy TV schedule, missed her calls.

"I found out also yesterday that, believe it or not, she was trying to contact me, which is weird. Janice Dickinson told me that," Dr. Drew told Kevin & Bean in a KROQ radio interview. "I remember getting these calls from Europe and I was like, 'What the hell is this?' and Janice goes, 'It was Amy.' We could have maybe gotten her over to someplace really good, but again, more sadness to that story."

Singer Amy Winehouse Dead at 27

by Maggie Furlong, posted Jul 23rd 2011 1:10PM
Amy WinehouseBefore Amy Winehouse became famous for her inimitable voice and infamous for her hard-partying ways, she tried her hand at TV acting.

The singer, who was found dead in her London home this morning at the age of 27, appeared on Britain's comedy 'The Fast Show' in 1997. She didn't say much, and she didn't sing at all, but the video after the jump shows a very young Winehouse, pre-beehive, doing her best to keep a straight face as someone else belted out 'Cabaret.'

Beyond her many musical accomplishments and providing soundtacks to some huge movies and TV shows, Winehouse's only other TV appearances include the usual stops for performers, as well as a BBC documentary series called 'Mischief' and an E! True Hollywood Story on her tumultuous life.

Watch this clip from 'The Fast Show' before she was famous, and tell us: Will Amy Winehouse be missed?

Susie Essman and Jeff Lewis Play 'Guess the Hairy Armpit' on 'Watch What Happens Live' (VIDEO)

Susie Essman and Jeff Lewis look at Julia Roberts' armpit on 'Watch What Happens Live'When it comes to gross, time-wasting late-night TV games, 'Watch What Happens Live' (Thursdays and Sundays, 11PM on Bravo) is the clear-cut intergalactic champion. On Thursday's edition, host Andy Cohen and his guests Susie Essman and Jeff Lewis celebrated 'Pit-stille Day' by looking at pictures of a woman's hairy armpit and guessing to whom it belonged.

For the first armpit, Cohen gave them the choice of Beyonce, Rihanna, or NeNe Leakes. "You know, I don't want to say what that looks like," said Essman. Cohen was thinking the same thing. Essman and Lewis both guessed wrong, as it turned out to be Beyonce. For a particularly unattractive patch, they were given the choices of Julia Roberts, Amy Winehouse, or Courtney Love. Surprisingly, it was Roberts.

Essman wound up the champion, and received a $1,000 gift certificate for hair removal as a prize. Lewis was happy he didn't win. "I would never have used that," he said. Cohen said he had heard otherwise. Oh, the dalliances of the Hollywood hirsute.

Amy Winehouse Impression Continues 'Access' Royal Wedding Countdown (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 14th 2011 3:15PM
Fake Amy Winehouse on 'Access Hollywood Live'As the hype surrounding the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton becomes increasingly ridiculous, so does the "Royal Wedding Countdown" on 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC). The parade of clumsy impressions and cultural stereotypes continued today with a boorish impression of Amy Winehouse, who is herself scheduled to be married this year.

The impression consisted mostly of yelling in a cockney accent while dressed in a white singlet with a big black wig. That's also probably the wine bottle in a bag previously used for the show's obnoxious Sid Vicious impression. "Is the wedding today?" shouted the faux Winehouse. "I believe it is. Is this the stage I'm performing on?" Yeah, and more like that.

Fake Winehouse also brought packages of condoms as gifts. If only they were metaphorical condoms designed to prevent bad ideas from blossoming, we might be able to stop the Royal Wedding Countdown altogether.

Most Awkward Award Show Moments (VIDEO)

by Mike Scalise, posted Jan 8th 2010 4:00PM
First she did a twirly hug, then made an odd, slurry joke about a kitten, spoke at a rate of about one word per minute and seemed to have her own personal hype man ('Precious' director Lee Daniels). And what did we do while we watched Mariah Carey's acceptance speech for Breakthrough Actress at last weekend's Palm Springs Film Festival?

We winced. We cringed. Then we watched it again.

Carey's, uh, loosened speech was the first genuinely awkward moment this award show season, but there were many actors, filmmakers, and musicians before her who've heard their name called, stepped to the podium, and made things a little weird for everyone.
