Damages: Tastes Like a Ho Ho
(S01E04) "Trust no one." - Patty
I assume we're supposed to find it funny that Patty, of all people, was the one offering that nugget of wisdom to Ellen. I think what's more amusing is that Patty herself doesn't adhere to her own advice. I actually believe that Tom entertaining Martin's offer may be the first thing in this show that's gotten by Patty. She's so involved in the Frobisher case and views Tom as such a loyal puppy, that I don't think she'd ever see this coming. Of course, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if she did know all about it. Hell, she let Katie perjure herself just so she can blindside Ray with an even bigger bomb-shell. Gregory is deeper than we thought.
Well, I shouldn't say that. Of course he has some involvement. Why else would his character exist? Now we have an idea though. He's been in bed with Frobisher and his broker from the beginning. For whatever reason, Greg owned some of Frobisher's stock and then pulled a Martha Stewart days before Frobisher went on his little spending spree. One answer... far too many new questions.
Damages: And My Paralyzing Fear of Death

(S01E03) "Just get me out of here." - Ellen
Um... what changed? It's not that this episode was bad, but there was a huge drop off between this week and last week in terms of tension. As a viewer, the last two episodes made me feel nervous and anxious. Not so much this time. Nothing about this episode really made me gasp or jump out of my seat. It was just a lot of what we already knew, with some extra info thrown in. The biggest issue? Way too much of the episode was devoted to Patty's misfit son. Unless something is switched around, he means nothing to the story as a whole.
Damages: Jesus, Mary and Joe Cocker
(S01E02) "How old were you?" - Patty
I gotta be honest. I'm just blown away by this show and we're only two episodes in! I mean... how does FX do it? This is what? The fourth or fifth legitimately good show they've pumped out now? Not bad for a basic cable network.
I think what has me so impressed are the characters themselves and how much they're already developed. The characterization that's been achieved here in two episodes is something that other shows often don't reach over the course of an entire season. We know motives, vices, and whats drives all the players involved. Yet at the same time... I still don't know who to trust. If Damages preaches one truth, it's that everyone lies.
Damages: Pilot (series premiere)

(S01E01) "If you were a man, I'd be worried." - Patty Hewes
Granted I saw this episode about two weeks ago, but after watching it again tonight I think it's pretty clear that FX is on to something big here. On paper, the numbers proclaimed Dirt to be a minor success for the FOX owned cable station. Let's be honest though -- Damages has Dirt beat by a mile and then some. It didn't take much for Patty Hewes (Glenn Close as good as she's ever been) to knock Lucy Spiller off of her tiny throne but it appears that FX has a new reigning female lead. Frankly, I'm terrified of her.
