How Andre Agassi's Dad Interrupted a Crucial Point Against Pete Sampras (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Sep 8th 2010 7:00AM
Andre Agassi Talks Disruptive Dad on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'Andre Agassi's father didn't attend many of the tennis star's matches. It was Mike Agassi's attempt to not distract his son or make him nervous. But he still managed to cause an outrageous scene during a tournament clincher against Pete Sampras.

First, Mike alarmed security when he showed up without a ticket, Agassi explained on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12:05AM ET on ABC). An official sat Mike in the front row, but the tennis pro remained oblivious to his presence. Just when Agassi had the (rare) chance to break Sampras' serve, a phone started ringing in the audience.

"[Sampras is] about to serve -- phone goes again," said Agassi. "'Hey, are you gonna ever answer your phone?'" Sampras screamed. "All of a sudden, my dad's head pops up. And he goes, 'It's my F'in phone, I'll answer it if I damn well please. Kiss my a--!'"

'60 Minutes': Andre Agassi Talks Hating Tennis, Hair Plugs, Crystal Meth (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Nov 9th 2009 11:14AM
In an interview given to Katie Couric on '60 Minutes,' Andre Agassi comes clean on his hatred of tennis due to an overbearing father who wanted to groom him as an athlete from a very young age, a poor self image inspired by the loss of his trademark hair, and the depression that drove him to use crystal meth.

Agassi's father reportedly taped Ping-Pong paddles to his hands when he was a toddler and, at age 7, forced him to practice in front of a specially modified ball machine that lobbed tennis balls at 110 miles per hour. "I think he drove me hard because he drove himself hard," said Agassi. "Tennis was a passion that he had from when he was a little boy himself. He saw it as the quickest road to the American dream for his kid, something that he wanted for his family."

Who will make Barbara's 'Most Fascinating' list?

by Anna Johns, posted Nov 28th 2006 7:02PM
barbara waltersOnce again, ABC news woman Barbara Walters is hosting her list of The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2006. As usual, she's picking public figures from entertainment, politics, sports and business. ABC has released the names of six people on her list, including Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy), Anna Wintour, Andre Agassi, John Ramsey (JonBenet's father), televangelist Joel Osteen, and Terri Irwin. Last year's list included Jamie Foxx, Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, Camilla Parker-Bowles, and Tom Cruise- who totally wigged out in 2005. The special airs on Tuesday, December 12th at 10 pm.

Whether you like her or not, I think Rachael Ray deserves to be on this year's list. 2006 was definitely her year. To that, I'd add Barack Obama (who should've been on her list in 2004) or Nancy Pelosi. And, probably Angelina Jolie.

Who else should make this list?
