Guy Torry Has No Sense of Humor, Can't Take Criticism on 'Last Comic Standing' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 6th 2010 5:11AM
Guy Torry Can't Take Critique on 'Last Comic Standing'Comedian Guy Torry didn't take kindly to the judges' critique of his stand-up on 'Last Comic Standing' (Mon., 9PM ET on NBC). "The KKK voted for Barack, did you know that? Google it, Google it!" said Torry during his routine.

"Not all the material was my style," said judge Andy Kindler.
"That's because you didn't vote for Barack," responded Torry.
"Do I look like a Republican?" asked a confused Kindler.

The second critique, from Natasha Leggero, concerned "the punch lines ... You say everything like three times." Torry told her he didn't and got a bit more confrontational, saying, "You never buy a ticket to one of my shows, so I'm not really worried about you." Then he was a little hostile toward judge Greg Giraldo, too.

Quitting Your Job and Chasing Your Dreams on 'Last Comic Standing' (VIDEO)

Quitting Your Job and Chasing Your Dreams on 'Last Comic Standing'America! It's the land of endless opportunity, where anything can happen. Well, either that, or it's the land of strip malls and trailer parks. Or it's the land of bald eagles and Mount Rushmore. Or maybe our fine country is some crazy mix of all of these. Who knows, really?

But for Jamie Lee's sake, let's hope that the USA is the land of opportunity. Because contestant Jamie Lee has quit her high-paying job ... in order to chase her dream of becoming a professional stand-up comedian. And on 'Last Comic Standing' (Mon., 9PM ET on NBC), we get to see how this all plays out for her.

Many people have come to the show to audition. (Including some truly awful comics who dress up as clowns or who use ventriloquist dummies -- which is never a good idea). But only Jamie Lee has given up a whole career in order to try out as a comedian.

A Talking Dog on 'Last Comic Standing' (VIDEO)

A Talking Dog on 'Last Comic Standing'A talking dog! The whole world loves a talking dog. And that's what we get on 'Last Comic Standing' (Mon., 8PM ET on NBC). But sadly, it's not a real talking dog. Yes, yes. We've been lied to so many times before. And yet we still hold out hope for the actual existence of a real talking dog. But it's probably never going to happen.

On the most recent episode of 'Last Comic,' one of the comedian hopefuls does a ventriloquist act with her dog, who is wearing a top hat and a bow tie. All of this goes about as well as you would expect it to. ... Which to say that the comedian girl doesn't end up making the cut on the show.

And later on, it turns out that it isn't even a ventriloquist act after all. Instead, there's just someone off-stage who is supplying the voice for the dog. Less and less impressive. Oh well. On the plus side, the dog is still wearing a bow tie and top hat. No, wait -- that's not actually a good thing, is it?

What You Missed Last Night: Andy Kindler talks to college grads

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 23rd 2009 11:33AM
I'm not sure how Andy Kindler came to be the guy who does out of the studio bits for The Late Show with David Letterman (other than being on a show Letterman's company produced, Everybody Loves Raymond), but he has done some great stuff. Last night he gave advice to new college graduates. His talk with Nick (don't call him Nicky) is particularly funny.
