'Bones' - The Death of the Queen Bee' Recap

(S05E17) Okay, boys and girls, here's the deal...
For some reason unbeknownst to me, my Stupid DVR (name brand) did not record this week's installment of 'Bones.' This, despite the fact that I set it up as a series recording. Of course, I can blame it on the kids, but that wouldn't be fair to them (I need to save that blame for when I do something stupid).
Until I can catch the episode on the Interwebs, I'm going to leave this post open for you, the wonderful and caring readers of TV Squad, to comment on the show. Let us know how you felt about this post-'I love you, but we're just friends' episode of the series, and if you think their new relationship will actually work until they eventually fall passionately into each others' arms sometime around season 33.
You can also let me know if the same mystery DVR loss has ever happened to you. That'll make me feel a little bit better.
(Update: You can now see the review after the jump)
The Bones panel - Comic-Con Report

David Boreanaz knows how to work a crowd. The man is honest, funny, and self-deprecating. Oh, and I guess he's good looking (I'm a man's man and really don't look at those things.) That's probably a reason why so many women crowded into the huge Ballroom 20 for the Bones panel -- a panel that I was highly anticipating. Well, it was probably Boreanaz as well as the appearances of Tamara Taylor (Cam), John Francis Daley (Dr. Sweets) and Michaela Conlin that made the audience wait in line for over an hour.
But, it was David who took over the panel for most of the time as they revealed some upcoming facts about season four and took audience questions.

Bones: The Verdict in the Story - VIDEO
(S03E13)"Friends don't let friends' fathers go to the electric chair." -- Angela, on why she wouldn't testify against Bones' dad
Doubt. A word that many of us use in some context at least once a day. We don't doubt it, we doubt it happened or, used in a positive manner, we prove that there isn't any doubt about it. In the legal world the word has a much more powerful connotation. Should a shred of doubt exist during a criminal trial, there is always that slim chance that the judge or jury will see past the crime of the defendant and rule in the opposite manner.
Sometimes, the physical evidence that the prosecution provides is the reason for doubt. Other times, it is the testimony of the witnesses that causes the judge or jury to think. Then, there are those times where doubt is seeded by the team of lawyers who are trying to get their client off.
Finally, there are those very rare occasions where the doubt is provided by the client's daughter. Guess which type of doubt was used in this week's episode of Bones?

Bones: The Man in the Mud - VIDEO
(S03E10) Rejoice! New episodes of Bones have finally returned to the FOX schedule. And, despite what others think, this guy, this dude, this muchacho, is very glad for its return. Not happy that FOX is screwing with the schedules of this show and House, mind you, but glad there are new episodes nevertheless.
For those of you new to the series, Bones is one of those unique dramas that can mix gruesome, terrible death with humor and light-heartedness. It is really a story about relationships, friendly or romantic, and the connections that are established by two totally opposite sets of people.
Plus, you get to see maggots crawling around a person's skull. So, it's all good.

Bones: Boy in the Time Capsule
(S03E06) "Do boys change when they graduate high school?" -- Bones
"Only on the outside" -- Jack
That Guy. You knew him in high school. He was loved by all the women (and some of the men), the teachers, and a good portion of the student body. He was probably very popular, maybe a member of the student governing body, and he pretty much had the school in the palm of his hand. Which meant he could do things that faculty and students alike would turn their heads and look away at.
Special FBI Agent Seeley Booth was That Guy.

Bones: Mummy in the Maze

(S03E05) Bones -- Who's stronger -- Catwoman or Wonder Woman?
Jack and Zack together -- Wonder Woman.
Bones -- I concur, vehemently.
Before I begin my review of this week's Bones I need to read this message from the Male Chauvinist Pig Association of America. It goes 'To the Producers of Bones . . . Concerning the skimpy and revealing costumes worn by your characters Temperance Brennan, Angela Montenegro, and Camille Saroyan we of the M.C.P.A.A. have one thing to say to you: you rock!' Oh, there's a postscript as well. It says 'Please ignore the saliva stains.'
Um, yeah. Let's move on, shall we?

Bones: The Widow's Son in the Windshield (season premiere)

(S03E01) Now that I gave you an early look about this episode, and you had a chance to watch it yourself, let's talk about what happened during the season premiere of Bones.
The main thing is that we are introduced to a serial killer storyline that will probably last throughout the entire season. This isn't your run-of-mill serial killer, though. If it was, then we wouldn't be seeing him or her on this very television show. This killer actually seems to, um, gnaw on some of the bones of his victims a bit after he kills them. That's right, not only is he a serial killer, but a cannibal as well. A perfect fit for Booth, Bones and the other Squints at the Jeffersonian!
Bones season three -- An early look

I know, I know, all of you Boneheads (and I mean that in the most affectionate way) want some answers after last season's finale. Did Jack and Angela stay together? Did Zack really go to Iraq? Is Bones' father still in jail? What did Bones mean when she said 'What do we do now?' while standing at the altar with Booth? Did Buffy leave Sunnydale to pursue Angel in Washington D.C.?
To answer your questions: Yes. Yes. Yes. I have no idea. Whoops, wrong show.
Welcome to season three of Bones!
Bones: The Boneless Bride in the River

(S02E16) Here's the first thing I thought of when Seely Booth was chasing down that potential suspect, the one who paid for the Chinese bride whose skeleton was forcibly removed from her skin: 'Gee, Angel would have caught him in a second!' This came to mind because the scene was so reminiscent of something you would have seen on Angel, with people running, flipping and jumping across buildings. The difference here is that Booth isn't as agile as Angel was. Well that, and the fact that Booth isn't an immortal vampire with a soul. Still it would have been cool to see.
Good episode this week, with a lighter tone than normal. Not too light, though, because it's fairly hard to be light-hearted when your show features as much gore as this show does. It just seemed that everyone was a bit more amusing than normal. .
Bones: The Girl With the Curl
(S02E07) Well, it certainly didn't take long to put Bones back into high-gear after the long October break (stupid Major League Baseball). We had a 'stripped from the headlines' murder involving a child beauty pageant star, a 9-year-old murderer, Bones touching and watching beauty pageant contestants (for investigation only), sexual awkwardness between Booth and Cam, and some increased sexual tension between Booth and Bones.
But, screw all that! Angela and Jack went on a date! And they kissed! Well, guess that speculation post I wrote two weeks ago about those two gets thrown out the window. Or, maybe not.
Read on, my TV Squad friends, if you dare.
Bones: Should Jack and Angela get together
Hi everybody! No Bones this week, so I thought I'd dabble in a bit of innocent speculation instead.
Over the last few weeks there has definitely been an escalation of flirtation and sexual tension between Dr. Jack Hodgins and Angela Montenegro, two of Doctor Temperance 'Bones' Brennan's colleagues at the Jeffersonian Institution. Well, let's be real here. . . Jack's been doing most of the flirting. But, Angela is definitely not shying away from all of the attention, and she is encouraging Jack in some ways as well. It's all in fun, and their scenes together do break up some of the ickiness surrounding the weekly investigations involving tremendously decomposed bodies.
My question is this: should these two crazy kids hook up? I resoundingly say Yes! And, according to some of your comments, you agree as well. So, now that we have that answered the next question is Why they should hook up.
Bones: The Blonde in the Game
(S02E04) Wow, can you believe we're already up to the fourth episode of the season? So far, every episode has been a good one. Now, let's not waste any time in getting to this week's review.
This was a very solid episode. At first, I wasn't fond of the whole 'serial killer murders while in jail' scenario, because its been played out in movies and television a few thousand times (and, why does the serial killer always think they're in the driver's seat when he (or she) is in jail on the way to an early dirt nap?). But, as Bones and Booth got down to tracking the killer I was really into the story. The best part was that I had no idea whatsoever on who the actual killer really was. This is refreshing, because in the previous episode of Bones I knew who the killer was in the first 20 minutes.
Bones: The Mother and Child in the Bay
(S02E02) Hello, everyone! Welcome to the first official second season review of Bones. Before I begin I want to speak to those of you who are not familiar with this crime-investigation drama. Should you happen to be intrigued by my reviews and decide to watch the series, please do not eat anything slimy, bloody, or heavy in sauce for about the first 15 to 20 minutes or so. This is when the heavily decomposed body of the victim is usually discovered and systematically dismantled by the doctors at the Jeffersonian Institution.
Should you decide to eat your dinner during this time, and you don't have a strong stomach, be prepared to go hungry the rest of the night or perhaps make a visit to the porcelain phone. Because it can get pretty grisly, icky and gooey at that time. Hence, the reason why they preface the show with a 'Viewer Discretion is Advised' message. Just a little warning, courtesy of your friendly neighborhood TV Squad writer.
