Angie Harmon Talks About the 'Rizzoli & Isles' Winter Episodes (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 28th 2011 3:00PM
Angie Harmon stars as Detective Jane Rizzoli on TNT's highly-rated detective drama 'Rizzoli & Isles,' which makes its midseason premiere tonight at 10PM ET and features a cameo from Bill O'Reilly. Harmon stopped by 'Live! With Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) where she talked about the five-episode "winter season" that will conclude the show's second season, and the challenges of balancing her work and family life.

Harmon told Kelly Ripa and 'Live' guest-host Neil Patrick Harris how the mini-season came into being. "We signed on to do a certain amount of episodes... and because the show is loved ... they added five more episodes ... to which I was like, 'Yay! Wait ..." Harmon's ambivalence stems from the extra time she had to spend away from her family, who lives in North Carolina, while the show shoots in L.A.

Angie Harmon Gives a Glimpse of 'Rizzoli and Isles' Season Two on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 11th 2011 5:45PM
Angie Harmon talks about season two of 'Rizzoli and Isles' on 'The View'Angie Harmon's Boston Police detective Jane Rizzoli was the proverbial tough-as-nails cop on season one of 'Rizzoli and Isles.' But she doesn't start off season two that way, and as Harmon said Monday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), her character will get a little softening this season, which premieres tonight at 10PM ET on TNT.

A clip from the new season found Rizzoli sitting on a couch feeling anti-social, nursing an addiction to The Shopping Channel, and looking rather unlike a woman ready to go out and bust some perps. "The first season was all about Jane being sort of Boston P.D.'s own Rottweiler," said Harmon. "This season, season two, is all about, you know, she doesn't have all the answers, she is more vulnerable, there are cracks in the armor."

Angie Harmon Credits The Hoff with Her Big Break (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Dec 6th 2010 3:00PM
Angie Harmon discusses David Hasselhoff on 'Access Hollywood Live'Angie Harmon's first big break came from meeting David Hasselhoff on an airplane, Harmon explained on 'Access Hollywood Live' (Weekdays, Syndicated on NBC). Up to that point, her only acting experience was a Miller Lite commercial, but that would soon change, after The Hoff gave her a shot on 'Baywatch Nights.'

Hosts Billy Bush and Kit Hoover brushed past the big break, asking if Hasselhoff hit on Harmon, and if he had been drinking.

Harmon did not take the bait. "He was very, very lovely," she said of Hasselhoff, "and very respectful. He was wonderful to work with. I'm not kidding."

Bush and Hoover mugged it up in the background, registering their disbelief at having booked the one person in Hollywood who apparently had nothing negative to say about Hasselhoff.

Kissing a Girl on 'Rizzoli & Isles' - Is Angie Harmon's Character a Secret Lesbian? (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 17th 2010 5:29AM
Kissing a Girl on 'Rizzoli & Isles' - Is Angie Harmon's Character a Secret Lesbian? There have already been some rumors that 'Rizzoli & Isles' is secretly a slightly, well, "lesbian" kind of show. ... And frankly, we're all in favor of that. But the cop drama seems to want to tease us with the question of whether its main characters are gay or not. Maybe the latest episode will give us some answers?

[Spoiler alert.]

On tonight's show (Mon., 10PM ET on TNT), Jane Rizzoli has to go undercover to solve a murder. Well, that's pretty standard stuff for this series. But Jane (played by Angie Harmon) has to infiltrate a lesbian bar in order to catch the killer. And -- as if that wasn't enough already -- then she starts seducing the sexy female barmaid.

At this point, the soundtrack to the show becomes sort of "porn-y," for lack of a better word. "You know," Jane says to the bartender, "you said if I was ever feeling ... adventurous." Next, the barmaid leans in for a kiss. Is this the big 'Rizzoli & Isles' reveal that we've been waiting for?

'Rizzoli & Isles' - Trying to Fit in With the Rich Folks ... and Failing (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 10th 2010 1:40AM
'Rizzoli & Isles' - Trying to Fit in With the Rich Folks ... and FailingIt can be tough, trying to enter a different world. On the latest episode of 'Rizzoli & Isles' (Mon., 10PM ET on TNT), the pair of detectives investigate a murder that takes place in a very upper-crusty, wealthy sort of place.

[Spoiler alert.]

The murder in question involves an extremely posh son of an upper-class Boston family. Now, Jane and Maura (played by Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander) must mix with the rich folks in order to solve the case.

Sadly, Jane doesn't really know what she's doing. Hanging out with wealthy people is surprisingly complicated!

... For instance, when you have dinner with rich people, there are so many forks and utensils to use. Jane just tries to navigate a simple meal, but still, she messes up. She can't even manage to eat some fish without getting in trouble.

Despite His Famous Song, Mick Jagger Stumped by Angie Harmon's Name (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 13th 2010 7:20AM
Despite Famous Song, Mick Jagger Stumped by Angie Harmon's NameWhen Angie Harmon joined Jimmy Fallon on the stage of 'Late Night' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC), The Roots played a fitting song for her entrance: 'Angie' by The Rolling Stones. But Fallon and Harmon immediately started laughing, and soon the audience discovered that the song was even more apropos.

Harmon once met the Stones' Mick Jagger. "He went, 'Hello, what's your name?'" explained Harmon, in a decent Jagger rendition. "And I was like, 'Angie.' And he went, 'Beg your pardon?'"

Apparently Jagger continued to struggle with her answer. "I was [thinking], Really?" Harmon said. "'You know, Angie -- like the song.'"

Then Fallon did his spot-on Mick impression. "Benji -- Are you sayin' Benji?" he joked in Jagger's thick accent.

Angie Harmon Talks 'Rizzoli & Isles,' Lorraine Bracco and Working Moms

by AOL TV Staff, posted Jul 12th 2010 1:00PM

If you've been waiting for Angie Harmon to return to your TV screen since the cancellation of 'Women's Murder Club,' you'll be happy to know that her new series, 'Rizzoli & Isles,' premieres Mon., July 12, 10PM ET on TNT.

Based on the books by Tess Gerritsen, the story follows Boston detective Jane Rizzoli (Harmon) and medical examiner Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander), good friends who together bust some of the city's most notorious bad guys. But they're also complete opposites. Maura wears designer duds and is more comfortable among the dead than the living. Jane is tough and gutsy, a better basketball player than her brother, and tends to dodge her overprotective mom, played by the always fabulous Lorraine Bracco (won't it be great to see her back onscreen, too?!).

TNT Pairs 'The Closer' With 'Rizzoli & Isles'

by Rich Keller, posted Apr 23rd 2010 11:50AM
'The Closer' returns for a sixth season on July 12th
Before you know it, the summer will be upon us. For viewers, this is both bad and good news. The bad: The major networks resort to schedules filled with reality programming. The good: The cable networks rev up their schedules with original scripted programming. By the time July rolls around, AMC, FX, TNT and USA will be chock full of fan favorites.

For TNT, that means a new season of 'The Closer.' The network has just announced that season 6 will premiere on Mon., Jul. 12 at 9PM. Joining 'The Closer' on that evening will be the new drama 'Rizzoli & Isles.' Based on a series of Tess Gerritsen's novels, the show casts Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander as a Boston detective and medical examiner, respectively, who team up to solve cases. The series also stars Lorraine Bracco as Harmon's mother.

TNT has always excelled with shows featuring strong female leads. As long as the acting and writing is up to par on 'Rizzoli & Isles' it should have a long life on the network.

Jason Lee, Angie Harmon Pilots Picked Up by TNT

by Leonard Jacobs, posted Jan 22nd 2010 11:30AM
If you can't choose one, why not choose them all?

That's exactly what TNT did yesterday with the pickup of three new pilots: 'Delta Blues,' 'Rizzoli and Isles' and the still-untitled alien-invasion series from producer Steven Spielberg. Each show received 10-episode orders, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

'Delta Blues,' from producer George Clooney, stars Jason Lee as a Memphis cop who moonlights as a musician and still lives at home with his mother. The Boston-set 'Rizzoli,' based on a series of mystery novels by Tess Gerritsen, stars Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander as detectives, with Lorraine Bracco playing Harmon's tough, but loyal mother.

TNT picks up more dramas

by Danny Gallagher, posted Jan 21st 2010 11:33PM
TNT has some new dramatic shows on the horizon and believe it or not, they actually don't involve sexy cops or lawyers. Well, one of them does.

The cable network has picked up a new science fiction series about aliens overtaking humanity starring Noah Wyle, a detective series starring Angie Harmon and (surprise!) a cop drama starring Jason Lee.

The "untitled alien invasion series" (wouldn't it be a big bowl of hilariousness if that were the actual title?) will star Wyle as the leader of a band of human resisters who aspire to take back the Earth from an alien race that has laid waste to humanity. Since this is being produced by Steven Speilberg, how about calling it Close Encounters of the Ass Kicking Kind?

George Clooney, Elvis, the cops and TNT

by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 27th 2009 1:06PM
George_Clooney_headGeorge Clooney learned a lot about television toiling away on The Facts of Life and E/R. The latter wasn't NBC medical drama that made him a star. I'm talking about the 1984 Elliott Gould sitcom on CBS that lasted a year, just 22 episodes.

But the point is this: he may be a major movie star today, but George knows and appreciates television. That could be why George Clooney's behind Delta Blues, a cop drama that TNT has just picked up.

I use the term drama loosely, because it's something goofier than a straight drama. The lead character is an Elvis Presley impersonator when he's not working for the Memphis Police Department. One more thing: Like Elvis, he honors his mother... and lives with her. Does that make him a mama's boy? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
