Rescue Me: Animal
(S04E09) "I mean... shit. We got enough drunks in this room to start our own meetings." - Maggie
Well I hope everyone else enjoyed that as much as I did because this was by far the best episode of the season. At this point, it doesn't seem like we're going to get a huge story, other than Elvis... Wyatt... whatever his name is. Character development seems to be the name of the game and even though plenty of us have complained about the quality of this season, it's about par for the course if you think about it. Three seasons down. It'd almost be weird if we weren't getting some new perspectives.
Take the Gavin family intervention. It still bugs me that the "forgotten siblings" (Timo and Rosemary) are never mentioned at things like this, but we still got some great stuff. Maggie is sick of being addicted, Eddie is in denial about his addiction ("I nip!"), and Teddy loves being addicted. This clan covers all the bases. Mr. Gavin finally made an appearance too... and he was drinking the whole time! Maggie's suggestion to have their own A.A. meetings was perfect though. I can't wait to see one of these things go down. They'll all be drunk.
Steve Irwin criticized by former producer
As if Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin's death hasn't raised enough ire thanks to the "too soon to joke" camp versus Bill Maher and South Park, Irwin's former BBC boss has added more fuel to the fire.Executive producer of BBC's Planet Earth Alastair Fothergill must have had it with the Irwin-as-saint treatment when he stated to the press that he didn't have much sympathy for Irwin because he believed Irwin was more interested in his own stardom than animals.
Where did the Harvey Birdman bear come from?
Fans of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law have gotten used to seeing the silent bear who appears in the group scene at the end of almost every episode and inexplicably pops up now and again throughout the show. Adult Swim has a transcript of creators Michael Ouweleen and Erik Richter talking about the origin of the bear, which first appeared in the episode "Very Personal Injury," the one where Apache Chief loses the ability to grow into a giant. The bear was designed by Vincent Waller, an animator and storyboard artist who worked on Ren and Stimpy and other John Kricfalusi projects, as well as SpongeBob SquarePants and Duckman. Ouweleen describes the bear as "the most zen creature on Earth." When you look at that serene face, you can't help but agree. He's the calm eye of the storm at the center of the Sebben and Sebben hurricane; the fuzzy lynchpin of the Birdman universe.Family Dog short on YouTube
Family Dog is one of those shows that has remained a question mark in my mind ever since it aired, for one season, back in the early '90s. I was in high school, and had been a huge fan of both Steven Spielberg and Tim Burton for many years before that, so when I heard they were both involved with a new animated sitcom, I couldn't wait to see it. However, I was incredibly disappointed in the show, and found it arduous and bland. As the years have gone by and I hear occasional praise for the show, I wonder if maybe it was actually better than I thought. Something tells me Present Day Adam may have enjoyed Family Dog much more than High School Adam. Of course, if they'd release the damn show on DVD, I'd be able to know for sure. In the meantime however, we can all thank this YouTube user for posting the original "Family Dog" short which first appeared on Spielberg's Amazing Stories. The series was created by Brad Bird (The Simpsons), and I have to say, I like what I saw on YouTube. According to this, though, Bird was not involved with the actual series that spawned from his original creation.

Coyote visits The O.C. set
According to reports, a coyote sneaked onto the set of The OC recently and found its way into Mischa Barton's trailer, where it ate her food and was later discovered by Barton and her co-star, Rachel Bilson. The crew were able to chase the coyote out of the trailer and off the set. That's all that's being reported, but I figured their had to be more to the story, so I tracked down the coyote for a brief interview:
