Tim Gunn: Fashion Diva Anna Wintour Made Employees Carry Her Around (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 8th 2010 2:45AM
'Project Runway' host Tim Gunn appeared on the latest 'Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). While speaking with Jon Stewart, Gunn dished about some of the stranger things he's seen in the fashion world. This included an occasion when 'Vogue' editor Anna Wintour -- the rumored inspiration for the evil boss in 'The Devil Wears Prada' -- had her employees carry her down five flights of stairs.Gunn witnessed this event at a fashion show in 2006. Wintour was wearing very high heels, and didn't feel like walking around in them anymore. Rather than, say, taking the elevator like a common person -- or even descending the stairs herself, she made her bodyguards lift her in their arms, and carry her from landing to landing, down to the ground floor. The absurdity didn't end there. According to Gunn, Ms. Wintour then had her employees carry her out to her car!
Lady Gaga Made Anna Wintour Wait While She Prayed to God (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Sep 2nd 2010 4:45AM
'Vogue' editor-in-chief Anna Wintour invites Jimmy Fallon every year to the Met Ball, a fund-raising gala for the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute. "You know how to throw a party," Fallon told her on 'Late Night' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC). "It's so well organized ... the biggest of the bigs in fashion, and everybody's got these beautiful gowns ... you have a few drinks and then a crazy awesome performance.""We had Lady Gaga this year," said Wintour. "She was communing with God and she was praying in the back, waiting for God to tell her it was all right to go actually onstage." Fallon replied, "I always talk to God, too -- whenever he says I can start the show. He books a lot of acts in New York City," he quipped. Apparently, the performer's confab with the Almighty took a good 45 minutes.
What You Missed Last Night: Anna Wintour does not play baseball
by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 25th 2009 3:25PM
Vogue editor (and Devil Wears Prada subject) Anna Wintour was on The Late Show last night. She came out in her trademark sunglasses but didn't wear them for the interview (that would have been fantastic). After talking to Dave about her work and a new documentary about her, he talked to her about playing baseball with the next guest Mark Texiera. Sadly, she didn't want to. It would have been great to see Wintour shagging flies.
What You Missed Last Night: Morley Safer is not impressed by the fashion world
by Bob Sassone, posted May 18th 2009 2:44PM
I don't usually write about the world of high fashion, but I was interested in the interview with Anna Wintour on 60 Minutes last night. For one, she's a mysterious women we only hear about from other people. Two, The Devil Wears Prada is on TV every single week and I have to watch it whenever it's on. The best part of this piece is the really funny, sarcastic digs that Morley Safer gets in about this fashion world.(The video is after the jump because it's one of those videos that plays automatically.)
Who will make Barbara's 'Most Fascinating' list?
by Anna Johns, posted Nov 28th 2006 7:02PM
Once again, ABC news woman Barbara Walters is hosting her list of The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2006. As usual, she's picking public figures from entertainment, politics, sports and business. ABC has released the names of six people on her list, including Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy), Anna Wintour, Andre Agassi, John Ramsey (JonBenet's father), televangelist Joel Osteen, and Terri Irwin. Last year's list included Jamie Foxx, Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, Camilla Parker-Bowles, and Tom Cruise- who totally wigged out in 2005. The special airs on Tuesday, December 12th at 10 pm.Whether you like her or not, I think Rachael Ray deserves to be on this year's list. 2006 was definitely her year. To that, I'd add Barack Obama (who should've been on her list in 2004) or Nancy Pelosi. And, probably Angelina Jolie.
Who else should make this list?
