'Northern Exposure' Cast: Where Are They Now?
by Allison Waldman, posted Jul 12th 2010 9:00AM
The summer has traditionally been a time when television reverts to reruns and an occasional fill-in series that rarely runs beyond Labor Day. In 1990, however, CBS premiered a new comedy-drama show that was definitely not the run-of-the-mill summertime fare. In fact, 'Northern Exposure' was a pioneer in many ways, ushering in the era of dramedy -- the blend of drama and comedy -- that is so popular today. From the moment it debuted on July 12, 1990, until it ended its run on July 26, 1995, 'Northern Exposure' was something special, and a large part of that success was due to the cast. The show was a launching pad for some of the younger actors, and a showcase for many others. On the anniversary of the show's premiere, we decided to catch up with the cast.

It's been 10 years since 'Freaks and Geeks' ended (the finale aired July 8, 2000). The last we saw of Lindsay Weir she was heading off into the sunset with her Deadhead classmates.
Looking back at the show, it's evident that the short-lived series had a pretty profound impact on pop culture. Not only did the show give viewers a closer look stars-in-the-making Linda Cardellini, Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jason Segel, but it also showcased some great music. There was something for everybody in 'Freaks and Geeks' and its themes still resonate today as much as they did 10 years ago.
