The Show Girl Talks Conan O'Brien, 'Tacky House, & 'Glee' Rivalries (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Apr 30th 2010 9:00AM
Conan O'BrienThis week, I've got the scoop on Conan O'Brien's Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour (psst! get info here), including the many celebs who popped by to make his L.A. dates even more amazing. Can't wait to have Conan back on TV with his new TBS talk show in the fall.

I also talk to celebrity designer and 'Tacky House' host Thom Filicia about the one supposedly style-savvy celeb he'd love to de-tackify. Then I get the dirt on the rumored 'Glee'-'Modern Family' rivalry straight from 'Glee''s resident bad girl Jessalyn Gilsig.

Rob Corddry in Childrens' HospitalThis week, I check in to see what's happening on 'Childrens' Hospital,' the hilarious Web series-turned-Adult Swim show, and let series creator and star Rob Corddry explain why he's in clown makeup and covered in blood, for those who aren't familiar. (One note: 'Childrens' Hospital' is not actually for children.)

I also have the dish on 'Happy Town,' ABC's new murder-mystery drama, and talk about the pressures of cooking for TV's funniest family -- um, hello? 'Modern Family'! -- with 'Top Chef Masters' contestant Rick Tramonto.

Bizarre Foods with Andrew ZimmernWe're getting closer and closer to the end of 'Lost,' and things are finally starting to come together. Of course, when I visited the set in Hawaii before the season premiere, I had no clue what he was talking about, but now Jorge Garcia insight about the end gives me chills.

I also talk to 'Bizarre Foods' host -- and regular on 'The Soup' -- Andrew Zimmern about what he's got in store for Joel McHale to mock this season, and I get the dish on Starz' latest series 'Gravity' from stars Ivan Sergei and Krysten Ritter.

by Maggie Furlong, posted Apr 9th 2010 9:00AM
Very few TV freebies could get me to devote a chunk of my weekly talk time to them ... but a personalized Maggie Furlong Adventure Doll? You have to see her in action to believe it. (Thanks CMT's Adventure Country!)

I also talk with 'Romantically Challenged' star Alyssa Milano about which fellow Twitter-happy ABC star she wants as her TV ex-husband on the new show. Then I hit the set of 'Brothers & Sisters' during their big flashback episode to catch up with the show's matriarch, Sally Field. Her comments on the young Walkers, their secrets and her own memories of the '80s will crack you up.

The Show Girl Talks 'Glee,' 'Party Down' & Being 'Addicted' to 'Vampire Diaries' (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Apr 2nd 2010 3:00PM
Party Down'Glee' is almost back -- let the countdown begin! This week, I preview some of the biggest additions and storylines for the rest of this musical season, including Madonna, Neil Patrick Harris and, yes, the birth of Quinn's baby Drizzle.

I also get tales of TV catering gone awry and dream guest stars from 'Party Down' stars Ken Marino and Lizzy Caplan. If you don't already love the show, they just might convince you to. Then former addict-turned-specialist Kristina Wandzilak from TLC's 'Addicted' takes the show in a more serious direction -- sort of. Apparently she still has one addiction she's embarrassed to admit: 'The Vampire Diaries.' (Hey, join the club!)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Mar 26th 2010 9:00AM
Future FoodI'm addicted to cooking shows, but my new fave is so much more than just food and kitchen skills -- 'Future Food' is all about changing the way we approach eating through molecular gastronomy. It's smart, it's fun, it's educational and, yes, it'll make your stomach growl. What more can you ask for?

This week, I also dive a little deeper into two other must-watch shows with scoop on new alters for 'United States of Tara''s second season, straight from star Toni Collette, and a celebrity spewing about why she loves 'Lost' almost as much as I do.

The Show Girl Talks 'Justified,' 'Minute To Win It' & 'All My Children' (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Mar 12th 2010 9:00AM
What do you get when you cross Timothy Olyphant and a supremely cool cowboy cop role? 'Justified,' FX's new drama. I get the scoop on costars (like Walton Goggins from 'The Shield') and dream guest stars (is Rose Byrne busy?) from Olyphant himself.

I also try to keep up with mile-a-minute 'Minute To Win It' host Guy Fieri, who beat me at foosball, then swiftly branded me with the nickname Foosinator. If you think he's funny on 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,' just wait till you see him host a game show. Bonus for soap opera fans: I visit Pine Valley to act up with Erica Kane, a.k.a. 'All My Children' star Susan Lucci.

According to retired Marine captain Dale Dye, HBO's latest 10-part miniseries, 'The Pacific,' has it all. Dye worked as their military training adviser, and he promises me that 'The Pacific' isn't just for guys. Honestly, I could listen to his stories all day -- the man has lived.

Another guy who tells a mean story? Tyler Labine, formerly of 'Reaper' and now playing leading man and dad-for-hire on 'Sons of Tucson.' Don't know about his new show? I let him give you the scoop.

I also hit the colorful 'Yo Gabba Gabba!' set to catch up with their regular art guru, Mark Mothersbaugh, who'll actually be performing with his band Devo on the show this season. Then I go undercover with 'Southland' star Michael Cudlitz on some unofficial police business -- a.k.a. kicking in doors and blowing things up -- and get scoop on his character's love life.

RuPaul's Drag RaceYou've got questions? I've got answers. I'm The Show Girl!

This week, I talk to the Queen of the Internet, Cindy Margolis, and the Queen of ... well, queens, RuPaul. Both ladies are working it on reality TV -- the '90s pinup on dating show 'Seducing Cindy,' and the '90s 'Supermodel' songstress on season 2 of 'RuPaul's Drag Race.' Amazing.

To bring the show back to reality a bit, I also dig in to 'Lost.' (Hey -- I didn't say which reality.) If you haven't heard, we've got a brand spankin' new weekly show dedicated to the addictive, obsessive show I call my #1 favorite. And we're taking fan questions starting ... now.

Katee SackhoffYou've got questions? I've got answers. I'm The Show Girl!

This week, I have a preview of ABC's new legal dramedy 'The Deep End' -- which is sort of like 'Grey's Anatomy' at a law firn -- straight from stars Billy Zane and Tina Majorino. I also get funny lady Aisha Tyler to beg another 'Arrested Development' alum (they already have two!) to come on her new animated comedy 'Archer.'

Then there's Katee Sackhoff. She's officially my new favorite actress, and now she's on '24,' but her answer to my sort of controversial 'Nip/Tuck' question -- why did they get all soap opera-y and keep your character but replace you with Rose McGowan? -- is equal parts lovely and hilarious.

Nurse JackieHappy New Year!!

2009 was an amazing year for TV fans -- and definitely a wonderful year to be The Show Girl -- but 2010 is looking like it might just top it.

Looking back at the best TV this past year, you can't forget our favorite new pill-popping medical professional (sorry 'House'!), a hilarious 'Modern Family' and the most lovable high school Glee club ever.

But 2010 promises us an 'UneXpected' twist on life, more of Mr. Nice Spy 'Chuck,' 'Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham's big return to primetime and (sniff! sniff!) the end of 'Lost.' Will you be watching? I know I will ... after all, it is my job.

And yes, it's a crazy fun job, but I couldn't do it without you guys. So if you want more TV scoop about your favorite shows, just email me your questions at TheTVShowGirl@aol.com. And, as always, happy TV watching!
