'Parks and Recreation' - '94 Meetings' Recap
by Kona Gallagher, posted Apr 29th 2010 10:00PM
Thank you, 'Parks and Recreation,' for finally remembering that Leslie was in love with Mark. I haven't been shy when it comes to my dislike of Mark and Anne's relationship, but the thing that bugged me the most is the fact that after being in love with this guy for something like six years, she's suddenly over him. Not only is she over him, but she has no problem with her best friend dating him -- it just never seemed that believable to me.Now, with the news of Mark and Anne possibly moving in together and getting married, we see that yes, Leslie does remember the past six years of her life, and this new development does bother her. I'm glad that they didn't make her into an emotional wreck, but the acknowledgment of, "yes, maybe the gazebo isn't the only thing that's bothering me" was really nice.
'Parks and Recreation' - 'Summer Catalog' Recap

(S02E20) Now that I know that Paul Schneider is leaving 'Parks and Recreation,' it's all I can think about any time he and Anne have scenes together. They're celebrating their six-month anniversary in a very low-key way, which is not unusual for them, but they're not exactly in the honeymoon phase, are they? Six months really isn't a long time to be together, yet the thrill seems to be gone. When Mark and Anne were doing the photo shoot with Tom, his whole schtick of "make your face look better" initially seemed to be a joke about hot girls taking bad pictures (kind of the opposite of Barney's talent on this week's 'How I Met Your Mother'), but it soon seemed to turn into something else entirely. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but it definitely seemed like Mark was concerned when he was looking at the pictures Tom took; like maybe he was realizing that the fact that Anne looks so miserable when they're pretending to be a family could be indicative of a much larger problem.
'Parks and Recreation' - 'The Possum' Recap

(S02E18) I miss the pit. It's been a while since we've heard anything about it, so it was nice to have it mentioned again. Even though Leslie may not have her favor with the mayor's office (I guess she'll just have to live with an un-laminated bus pass), I'd like to see something happen with the now-filled-in giant hole in the ground.Leslie clearly has more important things on her plate, like possum-wrangling. The whole task force thing could have been just ridiculous, and don't get me wrong-- it was, but there was one thing that saved it: the fact that there was an actual possum running around on Andy's neck. How he didn't just vomit to death, I'll never know. Chris Pratt deserves a raise though.
'Parks and Recreation' - 'Woman of the Year' Recap
by Kona Gallagher, posted Mar 5th 2010 1:28AM
Is it me, or does it seem oddly fitting that Pawnee would name Ron Swanson Woman of the Year? Everybody was at their best in this week's episode: Leslie was rightly pissed that Ron was recognized for work she had done herself, Ron was rightly making fun of Leslie for caring too much about meaningless awards, and Tom was rightly trying to be Pawnee's version of P Diddy-- as he should be. Speaking of Tom, I have to say I was really surprised by where that storyline went, and didn't go. I thought for sure we were going to get to see his hot (ex) wife again, as he was going to try to figure out a way to get alimony from her to invest in the club, since she's a rich doctor and totally used him for citizenship and broke his heart. I also figured that the whole thing was a scam, and it looks like I was wrong on both counts.
Review: Parks and Recreation - Christmas Scandal
by Kona Gallagher, posted Dec 11th 2009 1:10AM

(S02E12) This week's episode of Parks and Recreation was bittersweet-- but mostly sweet. After being MIA for several episodes, Louis C.K. returned, only to say goodbye. However, sweet scenes between April and Andy, Mark and Ann, and the entire office finally realizing how much they need Leslie, made up for the sadness.
It wasn't all sappy, though. When you have a councilman who gets a babysitter pregnant and then proceeds to have sex with four delivery-room nurses and a woman who's husband is getting a liver transplant, there is bound to be some funny-- and apparently an ass shot or two.
