Netflix seems to be combating its bad press by striking up partnership deals with TV networks. Hot on the heels of its deals with The CW and AMC, Netflix and Disney-ABC Television Group have reached a new agreement, extending their existing licensing agreement. As part of the new deal, episodes of new seasons from Disney-ABC shows will be available on Netflix 30 days after the last episode of each season airs.
'Alias,' 'Switched at Birth' and 'Kick Buttowski' will now be available on Netflix. The new deal extends to the previous seasons of 'Lost,' 'Brothers & Sisters,' 'Ugly' Betty,' 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'Private Practice' and 'Desperate Housewives' that are currently on the streaming service. 'Army Wives,' 'Melissa & Joey,' 'Make It or Break It' and various Disney Channel shows will also remain available.
Susan Lucci Joins 'Army Wives'
by Chris Harnick, posted Oct 20th 2011 4:45PM
'All My Children' star Susan Lucci has booked her first role since the end of the long-running ABC soap. According to TVLine, Lucci will appear on multiple episodes of Lifetime's hit 'Army Wives.'Lucci will play the wife of a retired general. Look for Lucci's character to give Kim Delaney's character, Claudia, advice on how to deal with a potential new rival played by 'Lie to Me' actress Kelli Williams.
Lucci will appear in at least two episodes of the hit drama's sixth season. Williams will appear in at least seven.
'All My Children' ended its run on ABC in September. The soap is set to move online in early 2012 with fellow ABC castoff 'One Life to Live.'
Seth Rogen, Andy Cohen and Hoda Discuss Kim Delaney's Rambling Speech (VIDEO)

'Today' (weekdays, 9AM ET on NBC) gathered Seth Rogen, Andy Cohen and Hoda Kotb to discuss the possible causes of 'Army Wives' star Kim Delaney's rambling Liberty Medal Award Ceremony speech. The actress was supposed to be introducing former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, but got yanked off the stage after slurring her words and appearing to be drunk. The group kicked around a few different theories about her discombobulation. The first was a teleprompter malfunction, something that could disrupt even the most seasoned public speakers. The most likely cause, clearly, is booze, as Delaney has struggled with drug and alcohol abuse in the past. A third possibility was that she may have had some kind of stroke, like CBS reporter Serene Branson suffered on-air in February, but we don't think that's too likely.
Rogen combined two schools of thought to put a nice bow on the segment. "Every time I can't read a teleprompter I get really drunk," he joked.
'Army Wives' Season Finale: A Sad Farewell and Uncertain Future (VIDEO)
by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 13th 2011 9:55AM
It was time to say good-bye to 'Army Wives' (Sun., 9PM ET on Life) as Season 5 drew to a close Sunday night. And it was also time for the characters to bid a sad farewell to life as they know it: The 23rd Airborne Division is being disbanded and Fort Marshall will be closed.
In 'Farewell to Arms,' Season 5 ended with an emotionally charged toast from Major General Michael Holden (Brian McNamara), who told the assembled guests at the ball that "The 23rd does not die with you Rather, it lives on through you. ... It is our legacy. Be proud of it."

['Army Wives' - 'Drop Zone']After so much conflict and drama in previous episodes, 'Army Wives' seemed due for a happy, content installment for the tribe. Alas, that was not to be. For one family, this may have been the calm before a storm.
For the Holdens, there was good news ... and bad news. Claudia Joy passed the bar, but there was no time for celebrating because Michael was passed over for that West Point promotion. That stung, although he's known for weeks that he was off the list. But then hearing that a former underling got the job instead was a kick in the keister.

['Army Wives' - 'Battle Buddies']Based on last week's episode, it was more than likely that this installment of 'Army Wives' would not be a happy-go-lucky one. It wasn't. In fact, it was a hard slog through some very difficult terrain, not the least of which was the crumbling LeBlanc marriage.
While it was great that Trevor was back from Afghanistan, he wasn't interested in talking to Roxy except to deliver the line that had haunted me since the preview last week: He "hadn't been happy in a long time."

['Army Wives' - 'Countermeasures']There was no way tonight's episode of 'Army Wives' was going to be a downer, right? How could it be, when the division was returning home from Afghanistan? The timing couldn't have been more perfect considering the fact that in real life, the U.S. military killed Osama Bin Laden just last weekend!
And yet, there was plenty of trouble among the tribe even as there was a general feeling of wellbeing with the troops back home. The way I saw it, Claudia Joy overreacted to Grant's kiss.

['Army Wives' - 'Supporting Arms']So far this season, there's been quite a bit of sadness on 'Army Wives.' The death of Jeremy Sherwood has hung over the show as a reminder that military families live in a state of perpetual anxiety, even as they try to remain positive.
While life has gone on for the 'tribe,' the Sherwoods can't really put Jeremy's death in the rear-view mirror. Denise and Frank tried a grief support group, which seemed like a great idea, until politics entered the scene.

['Army Wives' - 'Strategic Alliances']Watching this episode of 'Army Wives' reminded me of 'Fiddler on the Roof.' Don't laugh; I'm serious. It was that blend of the bitter with the sweet. The joy mixed with sorrow. For fans, most of the show was joyful, although hard reality hovered over the proceedings from start to finish.
After the sadness of Jeremy's death, happiness was expected in the form of Pamela and Chase's wedding. The tribe spoke and they wanted Pamela to have a real wedding, not a quickie "I do" at the courthouse that was what she was contemplating.

['Army Wives' - 'Walking Wounded']Unlike many shows that deal with death as a passage, a dramatic event that's put behind characters as the show progresses and new story lines are presented, 'Army Wives' has taken a more realistic look at loss.
Tonight was a prime example. The death of Jeremy Sherwood has been a catalyst for emotional turmoil on 'Army Wives,' affecting many characters, not just Jeremy's family, in a variety of ways.
For Denise and Frank, losing their son caused a shift in their relationship. Frank thought he'd bury his grief by returning to theater, but new orders from the Army changed that plan.

['Army Wives' - 'Soldier On']One of the reasons 'Army Wives' works as a drama is that it doesn't shirk from showing the tough side of Army life. In the aftermath of Jeremy's death, all of the members of the tribe are feeling emotional turmoil and reassessing how to handle it. It's not surprising that the character who's been most affected is Denise.
Denise has lost her first-born and the idea that the Army is sending Frank back into theater when they're still in mourning threw her off track. It's likely she would have suffered a breakdown even if Frank were allowed to a stateside assignment.
'Army Wives' Season 5, Episode 4 Recap

['Army Wives' - 'On Behalf of a Grateful Nation']It didn't take the first half-hour for the revelation, but 'Army Wives' held back until the end of the opening. Despite the dramatic drag-out, which I griped about last week, the loss of one of the characters on the battlefield was still heart-wrenching.
'Army Wives' didn't avoid the reality of the situation. We saw that terrible moment when two uniformed soldiers delivered the message that no Army spouse, parent or partner wants to hear. There is no easy way to deal with that kind of loss. As a viewer, it was emotional to learn who'd died and my eyes filled with tears.

['Army Wives' - 'Movement to Contact']Well, that was the ultimate let down! With two minutes left in the show, the black SUV pulled up to the Holden home and two messengers of death stepped out to deliver the grim news that someone had died in service. Was it Michael, Jeremy, Trevor, Chase or Frank?
This isn't a tease, readers, because as you know, 'Army Wives' left us all hanging. After last week's preview, it seemed a sure thing that someone would be receiving the worst possible news tonight. Instead, the producers are dragging it out and holding off the big reveal until next Sunday. Argh!!!
'Army Wives' Season 5, Episode 2 Recap

['Army Wives' - 'Command Presence']This was quite an event-filled episode of 'Army Wives,' what with Joan's garrison command ceremony and Claudia Joy's law school graduation ... but by the time the show ended, it was the preview for next week that made you catch your breath.
Sometimes the previews are just a big tease, like last week's, which had me thinking that Molly was going to face a life-or-death crisis.
