Beth keeps fans updated on Dog
If you're a fan of bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman and want to stay current about what's been going on with him since his capture last month, A&E has a page on their site where Dog's wife Beth gives fans quick video updates on how Dog is doing, as well as his son Leland and his brother Tim, who were also arrested in connection with the arrest of convicted rapist Andrew Luster in Mexico. I've been trying to follow this since it happened, and not much new news has developed in the last few weeks. Beth's updates reflect this, and she mostly just talks about how everyone is doing emotionally. In that respect, I can only recommend this to those who are diehard fans of the series. People looking for the cold, hard facts aren't going to learn much, at least not at this time.
Dog the Bounty Hunter special tonight
This evening at 10 pm A&E is airing a one-hour special titled Dog: The Family Speaks. The special will feature exclusive interviews with family members about the recent arrest of Duane "Dog" Chapman, his son Leland and his partner Tim Chapman connected to their arrest of convicted rapist and Max Factor heir Andrew Luster three years ago. Chapman was charged with illegal detention in Mexico after Luster's capture but never returned for his court date after posting bail. US Marshals took the men into custody on Thursday, and currently all three of the men are out on bail and awaiting an extradition hearing to decide if they'll be sent to trial in Mexico.Update on Dog's situation
Bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman, who was arrested in 2003 on charges of illegal detention after his 2003 capture of Max Factor heir Andrew Luster that eventually led to the A&E series Dog the Bounty Hunter has been released from federal prison along with his son Leland and his partner Tim after posting bail (Dog's bail was $300,000 whereas Tim and Leland's was $100,000 each). The three have had charges pending against them for posting bail but never returning for their court date. A judge has ordered the men to wear monitoring bracelets, not to possess any firearms and to remain in Hawaii until they return to court for extradition hearings which will determine whether they'll go to trial in Mexico. If convicted, Chapman could face six months to four years in prison.
A crowd of supporters gathered at the court house, and A&E filmed the event for the next season of the TV show.
Another arrest: Lost tailies can't drive
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Mr. Eko on ABC's Lost, was arrested early Saturday morning in Waikiki, Oahu. Police charged him with disobeying a police officer and driving without a license. He spent six hours in jail before posting $500 bail. This is the third new cast member to be arrested for traffic violations. Adewale's infractions don't seem as serious as last year's drunken driving arrests of Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros. The two actresses played 'Ana Lucia' and 'Libby' up until the season finale when the writers killed the pair off.
I guess Bernard is next. I'm thinking he'll be busted for indecent exposure. Or hit and run, since there seems to be a traffic theme.
Mos Def arrested for VMA performance
Mos Def: not exactly a bad ass rapper. Sure... he was arrested in New York City, but it's not for your usual rapper garbage like gun possession (Diddy) or lying about a murder (Lil' Kim). Nope, NYC police cuffed Mos Def for an impromptu performance he gave outside the Radio City Music Hall last Thursday before the MTV VMAs. Apparently he didn't have a permit for the sound system. The cops interrupted a song he was performing about Hurricane Katrina on the back of a flatbed truck outside the awards show. Police kept Mos Def overnight and now he'll have to appear in court. You can take the actor out of the mob, but...
Man, these actors
from The Sopranos just can't stay out of trouble. In real life, I mean. Now, two more members of the cast have
had separate run-ins with the law. John Ventimiglia, who plays chef Artie Bucco, is charged with drunk driving and drug
possession. Officers pulled him over as he was weaving in and out of traffic in Brooklyn. He had a blood-alcohol level
of .12 (legal limit is .08) and a bag with cocaine residue. He was arraigned yesterday, and today his attorney released
a statement saying that Ventimiglia "feels terrible and embarrassed."Bobby Brown goes to jail for an hour
In what should come as no surprise to anyone, Bobby Brown was arrested recently
on an outstanding warrant charge. Well, actually the warrant was from 1992 and involved driving without a license
and having an uninsured vehicle trailer. It would have been better fodder for the gossip rags if it somehow
involved drugs and hookers, but what can you do? Brown was in town for his daughter's cheerleading tournament.
Afterwards he drove to the police station, was detained for an hour, paid his bail, and left. *YAWN* Next time, maybe
he could at least knock over a stack of papers or something.
Tracy Morgan fights DUI charges
Former Saturday Night Live star Tracy Morgan is going to court over a DUI. He was picked up by cops in Los
Angeles on December 2nd and charged with drunken driving. He pleaded 'not guilty' to the misdemeanor charge earlier
this month. Tracy's in court again on February 23rd for a pre-trial hearing.Morgan, 37, was on SNL from 1996-2003. He's currently working on a sitcom pilot with former SNL co-star Tina Fey.
Idol twins 'uninvited' -- UPDATE
I'm not quite sure on the timeline of this story, but it seems that American Idol has withdrawn its
invitation for Derrell and Terrell Brittenum to "go to Hollywood". The twins totally rocked the first night
of auditions this season, but soon after we learned that one was in jail and there was a warrant out for the other. The
identical brothers are accused of stealing
someone's identity to buy a Dodge Magnum car. MTV.COM is reporting that both dudes posted bail and, when they went to
get on their scheduled flights to Hollywood, they learned they were no longer welcome as contestants on American
