On the 'DWTS' Scene: How Did Bristol Palin Turn It Around?

by Michael Maloney, posted Oct 26th 2010 10:55AM
Bristol Palin, Mark BallasA series of surprises on 'Dancing With the Stars' could leave Bristol Palin on the show's ballot until November.

For starters, the teen activist and partner Mark Ballas earned their highest score yet with a 23 for their tango Monday night. They also picked up an additional 4 points during a group competition, which gives them a 5 point lead over the show's bottom-scoring couple.

"I realized if I wasn't going to go all out this week, that I'd be going home," Palin told TV Squad after the show's taping. "So I put everything I had into this dance and worked my butt off! Messing up last week could have destroyed me or given me more motivation and it did [the latter.]"

A Dance Marathon on 'Dancing With the Stars' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 26th 2010 5:04AM
A Dane Marathon on 'Dancing With the Stars'It was Rock 'n' Roll night on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC), and for the episode's finale, the contestants found themselves stuck between a rock ... and a hard place. 'DWTS' abandoned its traditional format to feature a dance marathon. The contestants all had to get out on the dance floor together, and there was nowhere to hide.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

During the marathon, the judges eliminated the players one by one. The last couple standing would gain an additional ten points for the night. Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy had the highest score from the regular portion of the evening -- they got 26 points out of 30 for their rendition of the tango. But this success wouldn't necessarily translate to the more endurance-focused marathon segment.

On the 'DWTS' Scene: Florence Henderson Remembers the Late Robert Reed

by Michael Maloney, posted Oct 19th 2010 11:00AM
Florence Henderson, Corky BallasLast week, 'Dancing With the Stars' producers weren't sure if they could get the rights to 'The Brady Bunch' theme song for Florence Henderson (aka Carol Brady) and pro partner Corky Ballas to use during their TV theme week performance.

As viewers saw last night, the song was approved. While it wasn't perhaps the best tune to tango to, it did have great sentimental value to Henderson.

"The reason I really wanted to dance to the 'Brady Bunch' theme was because I wanted to dedicate it to Bob," Henderson told TV Squad on the post-show press line, referring to the late Robert Reed (who played her TV husband Mike Brady.)

"To lose him to AIDS [in 1992] broke all of our hearts. The fact that Barry [Williams, Greg] was here and knows how close we all were to Bob ... that was my dedication tonight."

'Dancing With the Stars' Season 11, Episode 5 Recap

by Michael Pascua, posted Oct 5th 2010 6:50AM
Margaret celebrates pride.['Dancing With the Stars' - 'Story Night']

'Dancing With the Stars' attempted to add a storyline to the dances this week, but only half of the stories were believable. The band was having an off night. The vocalist mumbled some of the lyrics in Florence & Corky's waltz, there were sour piano keys at the end of Audrina & Tony's waltz, and the screeching vocals during Bristol & Mark's foxtrot were off-putting. They were some of the reasons why the storylines didn't work.

Pro Performance - Tom never actually explained that the dancers were doing a demonstration of the Foxtrot, Waltz and Samba. Several guest pros joined Jonathan, Kym and Dmitry. While there was a minor wardrobe reveal that previewed the samba dresses, it didn't hinder the performance.

'Dancing With the Stars': It's 'Story Night,' As a New Couple Takes the Lead (VIDEO)

'Dancing With the Stars': It's 'Storytime,' As a New Couple Takes the LeadIt's Story Night once again on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC). The return of this theme meant that each couple's performance had to tell a tale ... in musical form. Last season's Story Night brought us the horrifying spectacle of Kate Gosselin dancing to 'Paparazzi' -- which was a notable train-wreck ... although it did give us this really awesome parody. But that's all in the past now. What would tonight bring for our contestants?

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

Front-runners Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough did well, as always, getting a 24 out of 30. But the real star of the night was Audrina Patridge, who wowed the audience with her rendition of the waltz. Patridge and Tony Dovolani's dance "story" involved a tribute to fallen American soliders and their families. While the "story" section was a little mystifying -- it involved the Smoke Monster from 'Lost,' for some reason -- the dance itself was extremely moving.

Michael Bolton: 'Dancing With the Stars' Judge Should Apologize (VIDEO)

by Michael Maloney, posted Sep 29th 2010 2:00PM
Michael BoltonIt didn't come as a big surprise that Michael Bolton got the boot on 'Dancing With the Stars' last night. The singer and his dance partner Chelsie Hightower scored a mere 12 points doing a jive on Monday night.

Host Tom Bergeron gave judge Bruno Tonioli an opportunity to amend, apologize for or even retract the harsh comment he gave Bolton on Monday's show (he called their jive "the worst ... in 11 seasons"). Instead, Tonioli held his ground.

Bolton called the judge's remarks "inappropriate" and "disrespectful."

On 'Good Morning America,' Bolton demanded an apology from Tonioli. "You heard the tone. Even Len [Goodman] stopped him and said, 'That's inappropriate,'" he said. "I think he should apologize publicly and be reprimanded for it."

Audrina PatridgeCould Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino be adding a 'Dancing With the Stars' paycheck to that hefty $5 million payday he's getting this year? It looks like it, and he may be joined by 'The Hills' star Audrina Patridge and singer Brandy Norwood.

According to OK! magazine and the Los Angeles Times, the 'Jersey Shore' star will be showing off his abs on ABC's dancing competition this fall. Don't be surprised if Sorrentino gets in at least one shirtless contest with professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

While ABC has been mum on the cast -- it plans to announce the celebrities Aug. 30 during 'The Bachelor Pad' -- rumors have been swirling about several names.

Wendy Williams compares bikini photos of 'The Hills' stars Kristin Cavallari and Heidi Montag on 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated), noting how Montag's recent plastic surgery has made her look much older than her 23 years of age and given her the look of an adult entertainer to boot.

"Well, you know, I have to say ... Heidi looks like a hard-living porn star who's 40," Williams said. "That's not necessarily a bad thing, but she looks older." See the clip for more, including Cavallari's priceless reaction.

Many are rejoicing the demise of the show, practically chomping at the bit to send Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt into the sunset. Others aren't so happy... though we're not sure who you are.

We sat down to talk candidly with Dan & Jessi from MTV Canada's 'The After Show' about the end of 'The Hills,' and what the remaining fans have to look forward to in the next few months.

The HillsAll good things must come to an end, even 'The Hills.'

Ladies and gentlemen, what we have here is the trailer for the final season of the MTV reality hit.

We've watched them love, live and grow -- and in Heidi Montag's case get loads of plastic surgery. This trailer opens with footage from simple times, times before plastic surgery and sex tape rumors. That alone was enough to make us nostalgic for the days of Whitney and Lauren sitting around the offices of Teen Vogue, but then -- BAM! -- new footage that got us excited (don't judge).

Audrina Patridge Returning to 'The Hills'

by Rebecca Paiement, posted Dec 8th 2009 1:00PM
'The Hills' is returning for another season on MTV -- and now, so is co-star Audrina Patrdige.

This week, a representative for Patridge told US Magazine that she can "officially confirm that [the reality star] will appear in the sixth season of 'The Hills.'" This comes after weeks of negotiations and back-and-forths with MTV about Partridge's supposed upcoming spin-off.

In a May interview on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, Patridge said that she was planning to leave 'The Hills,' the reality show that made her famous, to set out on her own. Apparently, MTV had gifted Patridge a series akin to co-star Whitney Port's 'The City.'
