TV production halts as showrunners refuse to cross WGA picket lines

by Liz Finn-Arnold, posted Nov 7th 2007 9:36AM
Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Wanda Sykes on the WGA picket lineIt's Day Three of the WGA Strike, and things are getting serious. Production on some scripted sitcoms and dramas is already coming to screeching halt -- despite the fact that completed scripts have yet to be shot.

Sitcoms which have already gone dark are: The New Adventures of Old Christine, Back to You, 'Til Death, and Rules of Engagement. And with Steve Carrell refusing to cross the picket line, The Office has shut down for business, as well.

Meanwhile, Shonda Rhimes (Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice) and Shawn Ryan (The Shield, The Unit) have publicly stated that they won't perform their showrunner responsibilities either. Without their showrunners, these high profile dramas will most likely cease production earlier than networks expected.

Stump the King -- Cavemen

by Paul Goebel, posted Sep 24th 2007 12:02PM

The cast of CavemenTonight marks the beginning of my favorite time of the year. The temperature has gone down to a tolerable degree here in L.A, the leaves are turning brown, people are starting to decorate their houses for the holidays and, most importantly, the new fall season is beginning.

Just like a kid on Christmas Eve, I await the arrival of the new fall shows with giddy excitement. I was lucky enough to see some of them already, but there are still plenty to look forward to.

Charisma Carpenter lands roles on two new series

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Sep 21st 2007 1:01PM
Charisma CarpenterIt turns out that Charisma Carpenter will not be on the celebrity version of NBC's The Apprentice, as reported last week. There goes one of the only reasons some of us would have tuned in for Trump's show.

Not to worry, Charisma will still grace a small screen near you doing what she does best since Angel got canceled: guest star. (It's a shame that she doesn't get a regular role on a TV series... or maybe the actress prefers doing guest starring and not be attached to any specific project?)

TV Guide announced
earlier today that the actress best known for her role as Cordelia Chase will appear in one episode of FOX's Back to You and has landed a recurring role on ABC's Big Shots.

What Kelsey Grammer really says on that Back to You promo - VIDEO

by Richard Keller, posted Sep 3rd 2007 9:31AM

What Kelsey Grammer swear like a truck driverBy now you may have seen the preview for FOX's new comedy Back to You, which stars Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton. In the preview Grammer's character, a prominent Los Angeles news anchor, apparently cusses out a colleague while still on the air. I say apparent because all of the swear words are bleeped out for network television.

You're probably just itching to find out what Kelsey really said, aren't you? Well, thanks to the pack rat known as YouTube you can see that same clip in all of its foul-mouthed glory. It's not the entire preview, just the part that shows Grammer's character yelling and screaming at the off-camera production crew. It's also minus the laughing you hear on the FOX preview. Don't know if this is a good or bad sign for the show or not. I have labeled the video, which you'll see after the jump, as Not Suitable For Work.

The good, the bad and the ugly in fall TV

by Kelly Woo, posted Aug 14th 2007 11:22AM
Bionic Woman and CavemenYou can probably tell fall TV's almost here by how many Back to You ads Fox pumps during So You Think You Can Dance.

But is Pushing Daisies as good as the commercials look? Will Bionic Woman be the next Battlestar Galactica? And can a show based on a Geico commercial be anything but terrible?

After watching all the pilots (lucky me), I started thinking about my best and worst list. I always get envious of movie critics at the end of the year, with their top 10s, top 20s -- heck, I've seen top 100s. Well, the fall season is the TV fan's time to shine.

So, I've made my list and checked it twice. Bionic is among the best and Cavemen one of the worst. Check out my full list of best and worst new fall TV shows.

Whatdo you think will end up on your best and worst list?
