'United States of Tara' - 'The Truth Hurts' Recap
by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 6th 2010 12:45AM

(S02E03) Sex was the topic of the day in and around the 'United States of Tara,' with nearly everyone questioning, experimenting, wondering and musing about the subject. Gay, straight, bi and variations on a theme. There was something about dogs in a bathtub that's still beyond me. But for the real skinny on how Tara's getting on, follow me after the jump and join the free skate.
Cheers bartender laid off after 35 years
by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 10th 2009 3:02PM
I guess everyone is getting laid off because of the economy.Eddie Doyle, the famed Boston bartender who worked for 35 years at the bar that inspired the TV show Cheers, has been laid off. The bar used to be called The Bull & Finch but was changed to Cheers after the NBC show went off the air in 1993.
I wonder, exactly, why he was laid off. Sure, it's a bad economy, but Doyle was a big draw for the place, very well-liked, and they're going to keep paying him until the end of the year anyway. Reading the comments at the link above, it looks like a lot of patrons won't be going back to the place. The bar is going to have a party for him in April.
Doyle was involved in many charities over the years. He says he's now going to work on his house and maybe even write a book about his experience at the bar.
Andy Dick walks into a bar....
by Adam Finley, posted May 1st 2006 1:02PM
Polysexual comedian Andy Dick has, in his own manic way, become the Andy Kaufman
of the new century. It's not always evident where his act ends and reality begins, and he's been known to drive his
fellow actors insane by never making it exactly clear where that line is. I mention this because the gay blog Queerty has some
gossip about the insane funnyman, and I'm not quite sure if it was a result of Andy just having some fun, or actually,
well, living up to his last name. Apparently, Andy stopped by a gay bar while in New Orleans shooting an episode of
Celebrity Poker Showdown (well, after shooting the episode, they didn't film it in a gay bar).
Anyway, according to rumor, Andy ordered a drink and then walked away, claiming he didn't have to pay for it because he
was a celebrity. After a heated exchange, Dick paid for his drinks, and then groped a female patron. I'd like to think
it was just Andy being Andy, trying to get a rise out of the bartender while intending to pay for the drinks all along.
Not paying for your drinks, especially in a city trying to get back on its feet after the Katrina disaster, seems like,
in more ways than one, a dick move.TV Squad Hot Topics
