Maya Rudolph Eyes Return to TV, ABC Announces Summer 2011 Schedule and More

'Saturday Night Live' veteran Maya Rudolph has booked a role in NBC's untitled working mom sitcom opposite Christina Applegate.According to Deadline, Rudolph was approached with multiple pilot offers. In the Lorne Michaels-produced series, Rudolph will play the best friend and coworker of Applegate's working mom lead character.
Yesterday it was reported that Will Arnett is also attached to the sitcom.

• 'Jersey Shore' closed its season 3 with big ratings. The season finale didn't shatter any records, but it was seen by 7.6 million viewers. [TV By the Numbers]
• 'Heroes' star Adrian Pasdar has joined the cast of an NBC pilot. Pasdar will star opposite Sarah Paulson in an untitled workplace sitcom about a woman who guides employees through downsizings. [TV Guide]
• FX and Oliver Stone are developing a conspiracy drama. The series follows a secret group, the Darkhorses, which manufactures fake news stories to service clients. [Deadline]
Larry King Returns to TV, Mischa Barton Wants On 'DWTS' and More

Well, that didn't take long. Weeks after ending his long-running CNN show, Larry King has booked another TV gig.It's not what you'd expect, though. According to TV Guide, the newsman has booked a cameo as himself on the ABC sitcom 'Better With You.'
King will shoot the guest spot next week, and the episode is scheduled to air in March.

• The latest on board the 'Dancing With the Stars' rumor train: Mischa Barton. According to a source, "Mischa watches the show religiously, and she thinks she can hold her own and maybe even win it. She likes the idea of being on a top-rated show, too." [Perez Hilton]
• Former 'Deep End' star Ben Lawson will play one of the leads in the USA pilot 'Wild Card.' His character is a successful attorney who has a life-changing night in Las Vegas. [Entertainment Weekly]
• Justin Long and his newly formed production company sold a half-hour script to CBS. The comedy is about two polar opposite high school science teacher roommates. [Deadline]

I like this show! Let's face it. Grey's Anatomy is dying, and The Deep End is Grey's Anatomy (the early years, that is), only with lawyers. It's got plenty of snappy dialogue, romantic sparks, inter-office power struggles, handsome people in nice clothes, office sex, Black-Eyed Peas tunes and cupcakes! What's not to love?

Television's legal drama waters will soon be teeming with new sharks when ABC's 'The Deep End' premieres on Jan. 21. The new series focuses on five young and ambitious associates who join one of the most prestigious law firms in Los Angeles -- and quickly learn just how cutthroat this new world really is.
Billy Zane stars as one of the firm's top partners, with Matt Long, Leah Pipes, Tina Majorino, Ben Lawson and Mehcad Brooks rounding out the cast as the associates. On Tue., Jan. 12, we'll be interviewing them about the show with your questions.
