This 'Lost' Character Chart Will Just Confuse You Even More

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 26th 2010 11:00AM
Lost chartAs well all know, 'Lost' is a difficult show to understand, even if you're a regular viewer. A couple dozen characters, various timelines, various locations all add up to a confusing (though great) show.

Wired has a handy character chart (yes, there might be spoilers!), created by bioinformics scientist Martin Krzywinski using Circos software (even that sentence is confusing) that shows how all of the characters are related. The chart showing the entire cast is just a mess of colored lines that might be hard to follow, but you can use the list on the left to narrow down the list of characters and plot points you want to examine.

Six Questions I Want 'Lost' to Answer Before It Ends

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 14th 2010 4:54PM
As last night's episode of 'Lost' showed, this season really is giving us a lot of answers. And even if the show isn't giving us all the answers we want/need, at least we can now feel a forward momentum driving us towards the end. There are only five episodes of the show left, can you believe it?

The show can't possibly answer all of the questions, small and big, that have come up since the show started in 2004. I think they'll answer enough of them for most fans, but you and I both know that 37 seconds after the season finale ends, some people are going to go online and complain. That was a lame ending! They didn't even answer the question I wanted them to answer! I wasted six years for this?!

I won't be one of those people. They've answered the question of the numbers enough for me, and several other mysteries don't bother me. Unless the show ends in a WTF 'Sopranos' fade-out, I'll just go with what the writers give us. Of course, that doesn't mean I don't want some questions answered:

Three Reasons Why 'Lost' is the Greatest Show You'll Never Watch on DVD

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 7th 2010 4:08PM
Lost DVDLast night's episode of 'Lost' was excellent, wasn't it? For the first time this season it seems like we can finally see where the show is headed. The pieces are finally coming together.

We don't know yet who is going to live or die (or even if "live" or "die" mean the same thing in this 'Lost' world) or what it ultimately all means, but last night was certainly a true turning point. Of course, the writers could still throw us a curve and we could find out that alternate-reality Desmond is actually a robot from the future obsessed with cheddar cheese, but it looks like the final handful of episodes will give us a real conclusion.

It's one of the greatest shows in TV history, and I'm probably never going to watch it on DVD.

People Who Have Only Seen One Episode of 'Lost' Will Never Understand It

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 5th 2010 3:06PM
LostEaster is one of those in-between holidays, at least in my house. Definitely more important than Arbor Day but not nearly as important as Thanksgiving. So several family members didn't come to Easter dinner yesterday, which means I got to talk to a couple of people a lot instead of several people just a little. Since I work for The Most Awesome TV Blog in the Universe (TM), the conversation turned to television, specifically to 'Lost.'

I don't remember exactly how the conversation went (I wish I had a tape recorder running), but it was very close to this:

Sister: Oh, you watch 'Lost?'
Me: Yeah, it's great!

Sister: So what's going on on it?
Me: _______?

I mean, the last time I saw it they were on an island. That guy who was on 'The Practice' was there.
Me: Michael Emerson. He's a great actor.

So what has happened since then?

The Life and Times of 'Lost's' Ben Linus (Set to Michael Jackson's "Ben")

by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 18th 2010 2:37PM
ABC is releasing videos based on various characters from 'Lost.' This one is for Ben Linus, and it's set to Michael Jackson's "Ben,' a song about a rat (which is how some people see Ben). It's a nice recap of everything Ben has done over the seasons.

You have to give Michael Emerson credit. Even though Ben Linus has lied, cheated, schemed, beaten, and killed, you still feel sorry for him.

What You Missed Last Night: Michael Emerson Reveals a 'Lost' Secret to Kimmel

by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 10th 2010 12:35PM
I thought last night's episode of 'Lost' was one of the best ever: exciting, unpredictable, with several developments that moves the story along and it even had a cliffhanger. Michael Emerson deserves an Emmy for this episode alone. He also showed up on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' to reveal, um, something. (Here's the YouTube version if you can't see what's below.)

Ben Gets Some Love on 'Lost' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 10th 2010 1:08AM
Lost, Ben LinusOh, Ben. You're just a misunderstood puppy, aren't you? You watched your daughter die, and you've had to live with the choice you made – the island over saving her. It was all about Jacob for you, wasn't it, and where did it get you?

But don't worry, puppy, you're not alone. There are people who will have you, bug-eyes and all, and not just Locke either. Hang in there. It'll all make sense eventually, hopefully by the season finale of 'Lost' (Tue., 9PM ET on ABC).

Watch the video after the jump.

The Most Awesome Video You'll See Today (And It Stars Someone From 'Lost')

by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 4th 2010 12:30PM
I love seeing clips of what stars did before they became big. The first stepping stone to stardom is often TV commercials or plays, but there are other avenues as well, including instructional videos. This one is from 1992. It's a prison training video. Take a look at the counselor who is called in to help one of the inmates. He even had that creepy stare back then (though with more hair, which doesn't quite look right to me). I want to know how this ends.

Terry O'Quinn is Shopping Around a New Show with Michael Emerson

by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 25th 2010 3:01PM
Terry O'QuinnWould you watch a 'Lost' spinoff? Not one that would focus still on the island (perhaps with different castaways) but one that took a couple of characters and gave them new lives and new jobs in another city? Terry O'Quinn is shopping one around that would star him and Michael Emerson (Ben).

The show's tentative title is 'I'm Ben, He's Locke!' and it would feature the two men living a completely different life off of the island. The two find themselves divorced, living in New York City, and various circumstances bring them together as roommates. Can two divorced men who used to live on a mysterious island and traveled through time and later one was taken over by a smoke monster and the other one killed his rival share an apartment, without driving each other crazy?

OK, all of that's a lie. The story that O'Quinn is shopping around is about two hit men who live in the suburbs who have to keep their secret lives hidden from their families while dealing with various problems both domestic and professional. Hey, I'd watch that. O'Quinn and Emerson are two of the best actors on TV right now.

'Lost' - 'What Kate Does' Recap

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Feb 10th 2010 12:46AM
Evangeline Lilly as Kate Austen on ABC's 'Lost.'
(S06E03) "It's the Others, dude. They caught us ... again." - Hurley

As 'What Kate Does' unfolded, I couldn't help but shake the feeling that everything we're witnessing in the "post-Jughead worked" 2004 time-line is going to end up being very important. Of course, that could have been due to the fact that in this past week's Official 'Lost' Audio Podcast, Cuse and Lindelof essentially laid it bare for us -- there is no alternate reality happening here. What's going on in LA in 2004 and what's going on in 2007 on the island are both very real.

The question to ask is what effect actions in one time-line will have on the events in the other. As far as 'Lost' mindf#%ks go, this one is a doozie, because it's forced us to reevaluate everything we remember about these characters, right back to the pilot episode.

Which 'Lost' Cast Member Might Be Getting Killed Off?

One cast member says that his survival at the end of the show is "unlikely." Spoilerish info after the jump.

Review: 'Lost' - 'LA X, Parts 1 and 2' (Season Premiere)

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Feb 3rd 2010 1:43AM
Lost premiere
(S06E01/S06E02) "We're back." - Kate

Did you hear that? That was the collective sound of TV fans across the country all brain-farting in unison. 'Lost' is back for its final season and I've gotta be honest -- I'm not really sure what to think about 'LA X.' In four or five months time, once the series has concluded, I'm positive I'll think differently about it. However, right now, 'LA X' was easily one of the most confusing hours of 'Lost' yet, and despite ABC's promos promising that "questions would be answered," all it gave us was a jumbo-jet (literally) chock full of new ones. Whatever ... I still loved every second of it.

Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn Talk Being Indestructible & the Ben-Locke Bromance on 'Lost' - VIDEO

by Maggie Furlong, posted Feb 2nd 2010 6:00PM
Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn together in one interview? It's enough to make a 'Lost' fan weak in the knees.

The duo settled in to talk all about the drama to come in season 6, and some lingering questions about John Locke not being John Locke, and what he might really be. "Did you know you were not John Locke before I knew you were not John Locke?," Emerson asks with a coy smile. These two have honed their back-and-forths to near banter perfection.

They also laugh at the idea that Blocke fans have labeled them TV's greatest bromance. "As a bromance?," O'Quinn scoffs. "We've had good stuff to do together -- they've written great stuff for us to play together."

See all the amazingness right here, before the final season of 'Lost' premieres tonight (Tues., Feb. 2, 9PM ET on ABC).

ABC hasn't released any new information about the last season of Lost (which debuts on February 2), not a trailer that includes new footage. But some clues are beginning to show up here and there.

Kristen over at E! has some lines of dialogue from the first few episodes of the show. She doesn't say who says what so you have to put your thinking cap on (or your guessing cap).
