Mitt Romney $10,000 bet - 'ABC News Republican Debate'It was the bet heard around the world on Saturday's 'Republican Debate' (Sat., 9PM ET on ABC). After Rick Perry again brought up the claim that in the first printing of Mitt Romney's book 'No Apology,' he was for individual mandates nationwide, Romney again refuted the claim. Finally, he decided to put his considerable wealth where his mouth is.

"10,000 bucks?" he said, offering a wager with a handshake.

"I'm not in the betting business," Perry countered, but the offer of it alone set up a storm of responses on Twitter and from both sides of the political spectrum.

Gladys Knight, '2011 Soul Train Awards'Gladys Knight -- a.k.a. The Empress of Soul -- was rightly honored at this year's '2011 Soul Train Awards' (Sun., 9PM ET on BET). To a standing ovation from the audience, singer Natalie Cole presented her with the Legend Award.

Veteran recording artists Elton John, Smokey Robinson and Patti LaBelle paid tribute on video, with John saying that in 40 years of listening to Gladys performing live he's never heard her hit a bum note. Then more performers took to the stage for a truly epic medley of her greatest hits.

Accepting her award Gladys said "I have received awards over the years and I am grateful for every single one of them. But let me tell you something,. Eddie Murphy Talks About Who Destroyed His Leather Suit From 'Delirious' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 26th 2011 5:30AM
Eddie Murphy, '106 & Park' Eddie Murphy was talking a little bit about people's expectations of him as the Oscars host on '106 & Park' (Weeknights, 6PM ET on BET). One thing he wanted to make clear is that the show should not be about him coming out in a leather suit and cracking jokes, but rather about the awards themselves.

But the leather suit comment prompted a question of if he still had the one from 'Delirious' or not. It turns out he did, but it got totally destroyed in a prank one night. According to Murphy, Keenen Ivory Wayans put on the suit one night, which looked hilarious because Wayans is much taller than Murphy.

He proved himself an impressive wordsmith still, with a social conscience, touching several members of the audience with his politically charged words.

"Millionaires crying about raising taxes on the elite," he read. "They won't feed us as they'd rather defeat us like an aborted fetus, but the greatest feat is to get back up on your feet."

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 10th 2011 5:45PM
Malcolm-Jamal Warner grew up in one of TV's most iconic families in his role as Theo Huxtable on 'The Cosby Show.' Now, all these years later, after a cameo on 'Community' and a bevy of other projects, Warner is back to tackling the family sitcom. He stopped by 'Good Day NY' (weekdays, (9AM ET on Fox) to preview his new show 'Read Between the Lines.'

Warner doesn't shy away from the 'Cosby Show' comparisons, although he was careful to say that trying to recreate it would be foolish. But he did say the show was striving to capture that same "sense of universality, that sense of positive family values and family love, and a couple that's actually happily married."

Magic Johnson Guest Stars as Himself on 'The Game' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 9th 2011 6:21AM
Magic Johnson, 'The Game'Guest stars are certainly nothing new to 'The Game' (Tue., 10PM ET on BET). The show continues to be a huge ratings success for BET so it doesn't need the star power but, considering its premise, it's all too tempting to sprinkle in some sports celebrities at least from time to time.

The latest is one of the biggest of all-time. Basketball legend Magic Johnson swung by the house with Jason on their way to play some golf. While most everyone takes it in stride, Melanie is still a little starstruck.

"Pleasure's mine," he says upon meeting her. When she just keeps smiling and shaking his hand, he reverses course. "Pleasure's yours?"

Despite Winning Bet, Glenn Beck Won't Replace Bill O'Reilly In Fox's 8PM Slot (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Aug 31st 2010 3:05PM
On Glenn Beck's radio show last week, he mentioned that Bill O'Reilly was skeptical that Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally would draw more than 20,000 people. O'Reilly told Beck that if he ended up drawing over 100,000 to the rally, Beck could "anchor the 8 PM show."

On Monday's 'The O'Reilly Factor' (weeknights, 8 PM ET on Fox News) Beck presented O'Reilly with a large photo of the crowd and O'Reilly conceded that Beck had drawn more than the magic number of 100,000.

So what of the bet? "You can do (The Factor) anytime you want," Bill said, clearly not being serious. "I'll take your dopey time slot at five."

Even if O'Reilly won't be handing over his prime time reigns, he was unusually effusive in his praise for Beck:

"I want to congratulate you," O'Reilly told the Beckster. "I don't think there is anybody in the country that could mobilize that many people at this point in time. I don't think there is anyone else. You know, besides Pamela Anderson."

We're just going to assume that O'Reilly's odd Pamela Anderson quip is in reference to the fact that many Americans like boobs.

Chris Brown Tries for Redemption at the 'BET Awards 2010' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jun 28th 2010 2:40AM
Chris Brown Tries for Redemption at the 'BET Awards 2010'The 'BET Awards 2010' (Sun., 8PM ET on BET) took place tonight. The show featured performances by Alicia Keys, Enimem, and Drake. Among the nominees for awards were Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Jay-Z, as well as many others.

Kanye West also showed up to perform -- in one of his first high-profile events since notoriously interrupting Taylor Swift at the 'MTV Video Music Awards.'

But the highlight of the show was an performance by Chris Brown, who paid tribute to Michael Jackson. Brown famously pled guilty last year for assaulting his girlfriend Rihanna, and ever since then, his sales and reputation have suffered. But he appeared to make a stab at redemption with his emotional rendition of several of Michael Jackson's hit songs -- including 'Billie Jean' and 'Man in the Mirror.' At the close of his performance, Brown broke down into tears. Were they tears of remorse for what he had done to Rihanna?

BET Ready to Play 'The Game'

by Scott Harris, posted Apr 5th 2010 11:40AM
Tia MowryBetween the Masters, Major League Baseball's opening day and March Madness, it seems that there's a big game popping up every day on networks like ESPN and CBS. Now, though, one of the biggest games around is about to appear courtesy of a less likely source: BET.

That's because, according to the Hollywood Reporter, the cable network is expected to announce that it has finalized a deal to bring back the late, lamented CW comedy 'The Game,' which was a spinoff from the beloved hit 'Girlfriends.'

That series of course, ran for eight seasons, but unfortunately 'The Game' wasn't as successful, thanks in large part to the network's decision to move away from half-hour comedies like 'The Game' in favor of hour-long shows. While series creator Mara Brock Akil did attempt to save the series by converting it to a full-hour format, the move wasn't enough to rescue the 'The Game,' which was instead canceled after three seasons.

The Game may go into overtime on BET

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 24th 2009 1:02PM
The GameWhen The CW dropped half-hour comedies from their schedule after this past season, it left The Game out in the cold. The show had been performing respectably for the network, so it was more a victim of changing direction than poor performance.

A little late, but maybe not too late, BET is showing interest in bringing The Game back for a fourth season. The original options on the cast of the show have lapsed, but that's not to say BET couldn't negotiate anew. There's still an audience out there for the show, and I'll bet its more hardcore base felt a little betrayed by The CW's quick dismissal.

BET already airs repeats of both The Game and its parent series Girlfriends, so a continuation there fits well. The network hasn't had much luck in establishing a successful original comedy, so why not take a stab with one that's already established? From there, it'd be easy to grow into wholly unique properties.
