Joy Behar Asks 'The Real Housewives of New York' How Real The Show Is (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 6th 2011 12:23AM
Jill Zarin, 'The View'The debate on how real reality television is, may never be fully resolved, but the women of 'The Real Housewives of New York City' kept the discussion alive and well on 'The View' (Weekdays, syndicated on ABC). First, Jill Zarin said she thought what happened between her and Bethenny Frankel was "sort of drama for the show" and that they would then make up.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Actually, for Bravo it may have worked out for the best as Frankel is now off and running with her own successful show.

"So you're saying that things are faked?" Joy Behar asked, but the women evaded and moved on.

Jason Hoppy and Bethenny Frankel, 'Bethenny Ever After'['Bethenny Ever After' - 'Fleeing From 40']

Poor Jason, but good Jason. It was hard to empathize with Bethenny when she shuttered herself in the bathroom to cry bloody murder. Everyone around her was supportive and happy to make her happy. But there was that old chestnut, her past, latent or invisible most of the time, exploding at just the wrong moment.

So, her husband was good to weather the storm, however inconvenient or awkward it was. What are over 40 friends and family members when you've constantly got cameras in the house, anyway?

Bethenny Breaks Down at Her 40th Birthday Party on 'Ever After' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 5th 2011 2:34AM
One of the rules of any relationship is to be very, very careful what you do to celebrate your lovely lady's birthday. Especially if it's one of those significant milestone birthdays like 40. Jason learned this lesson in a very public and difficult way on 'Bethenny Ever After' (Mon., 10PM on Bravo).

At a lavish party he'd thrown together to celebrate Bethenny Frankel's big 4-0, she absolutely freaked out and lost her mind. She pulled Jason into another room where they talked about it while their guests looked around awkwardly.

The way it was filmed was even more uncomfortable, because it kind of looked as if they were broadcasting Frankel's breakdown over loudspeakers so the guests could listen in. Obviously they weren't, but it made her very personal moment look very public.

Wendy Williams Gives Bethenny Frankel Personalized Toilet Paper for Her Anniversary (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 1st 2011 2:00PM
Bethenny Frankel on 'The Wendy Williams Show'What do you get a woman who already has several successful TV shows, a bestselling book and her own fitness business? Well, if that woman is Bethenny Frankel and you are Wendy Williams, you get that person a basket of toilet paper with her face on it, as Williams did on today's 'Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated).

The toilet paper was a gift for Frankel's one-year anniversary with her husband, Jason Hoppy, and featured a photo of Frankel and Hoppy framed by a heart. Year one is paper, after all. Hard to tell exactly what Frankel said in response, because it had to be bleeped. But she expressed some joy at the idea of wiping with her loved one.

The traditional gift for the second anniversary is cotton, and the third, leather. Frankel may want to pick a different month to visit Williams the next couple of years.

'Lopez': Bethenny Frankel Helped Uncover and Bust a Russian Crime Ring (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 29th 2011 6:56AM
Bethenny Frankel, 'Lopez Tonight'Some cop in New York owes Bethenny Frankel a big thank you. Actually, a whole lot of law enforcement officials could give thanks for her perseverance based on the story she told on 'Lopez Tonight' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on TBS) of how she uncovered a Russian crime ring.

It all started when Frankel went to sell her engagement ring on eBay and it got stolen. While the police were doing their thing, Frankel returned to eBay where she found her ring and tracked down the store that had it.

Then she went to the store and found her actual ring and called the police. "I called this guy at the police department who wouldn't help me," she said. "We're getting my ring, and if you don't get down here by 5 o'clock I'm going in and I'm stealing it and then you can take me to jail."

How convenient ... a night in a swanky hotel with her girl posse just to talk ... about planning her birthday party? It sounds better than it ended up, especially when Bethenny's got some kind of birthday psychosis going on, unsurprisingly traced back to some pretty unsavory, sad moments from her childhood. See, she was sure the therapist had something to say. He must be convinced now, too.

Can we please get some bonus footage at the end of the season with Julie performing an extended version of her "Metro card" dance? I'm sure one of the Bravo 'Housewives' would be more than happy to take on the task of singing an accompanying song or jumping on a remix.

Bethenny Frankel Breaks Down Talking About Her Childhood on 'Ever After' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 29th 2011 1:40AM
'Bethenny Ever After'If you've been through a difficult childhood, it can be very challenging to try and open up and talk about it. But if you reach that point where it starts to come out, sometimes that emotion just pushes it all out. Such was the case for Bethenny Frankel on 'Bethenny Ever After' (Mon., 10PM ET on Bravo).

In her therapy session, she opened up about the craziness of her early life, talking about how her mother would yell at her for not wanting to go to a night club with her when Bethenny was 13 years old. She struggled with her relationships with both her father and her stepfather.

"It sounds like I'm making it up when I say it out loud because it's so f****** crazy," she said. "But it didn't feel that crazy then. It really didn't."

Billy Bush Asks Bethenny Frankel How Often She Has SexWe're not entirely sure why Billy Bush is fascinated by how often celebs have sex, but he's at it again. On 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated), Bush asked Bethenny Frankel how often she and husband Jason Hoppy do it in a given week.

"I'd say, like, two," answered Frankel, without hesitation.

Bethenny Frankel on 'Bethenny Ever After' and Coming From a Place of Yes

by Joel Keller, posted Mar 25th 2011 12:05PM
'Bethenny Ever After'It's not a stretch to say that Bethenny Frankel's life moves as fast as she talks.

Even though our interview earlier this week was via phone, it wasn't hard to paint the picture of what was going on on the other end: Bethenny, holding her ten-month old daughter Bryn, wandering around the office or living room in the small but well-appointed Tribeca condo seen in her Bravo show 'Bethenny Ever After,' conducting the interview in the vicinity of a speakerphone. Bryn was so close I could hear her cooing in the speaker near the end of the interview, so I said hi to her.

Life is non-stop for the former star of 'The Real Housewives of New York City.' In addition to the Bravo show, which is in its second season chronicling her marriage to Jason Hoppy and new motherhood, she just completed a deal to sell her Skinnygirl brand of low-calorie ready-made cocktails to Beam Global, maker of Jim Beam bourbon, among other products. And on Tuesday, her latest book, 'A Place of Yes: 10 Rules For Getting Everything You Want Out of Life,' hit store shelves.

One minute Bethenny's riffing that Gina's spiritual dance looks like she's "on ecstasy at a rave," the next she's skedaddling out of the baby nurse's church because the baby may have just been accidentally (or not) baptized.

Bethenny hit the nail on the head when she said "I don't like to feel out of control" -- as in, she doesn't like "doilies and cats," or for her refrigerator and closet to be messy -- but the baptism situation took it to a whole other level. This time, very rightfully so.

Was Bethenny Frankel's Baby Baptized at the Nanny's Church? (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Mar 22nd 2011 5:50AM
Bryn's Baptism on 'Bethenny Ever After'?On 'Bethenny Ever After' (Mon., 10PM ET on BRAVO), Gina (Bryn's nanny) convinces Bethenny and Jason to take their daughter to her Trinidadian church to receive a "blessing."

In the middle of the ceremony, at the front of the church and surrounded by congregants and clergy, they hear these words: "Our savior Christ, that of his bounteous mercy he will grant to this child that she may be baptized with water and received into Christ's holy church..."

Bethenny flashes a look of alarm at her husband and turns to Gina, asking, "Bryn's not being baptized right now, right?" Gina assures them it's not a baptism. "Grandma will kill you," says Jason.

Bethenny agrees to hand Bryn to the minister, but gets more and more uncomfortable with the proceedings. Finally, she asks Gina to retrieve the child, and Bethenny whisks her away.

Foodie Nick on his culinary crawl, peering around with worried eyes, head upturned, hair pointing in all directions, in pursuit of a lost Bethenny. Easily this week's best moment.

Bethenny Isn't Happy That Her Company Couldn't Keep Up With Demand on 'Ever After' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 15th 2011 2:12AM
'Bethenny Ever After'Bethenny Frankel has become very good at marketing herself. However, this kind of around-the-clock self-promotion can lead to problems, as revealed on 'Bethenny Ever After' (Mon., 10PM ET on Bravo).

She sat down with husband Jason to talk about why her business isn't producing product as quickly as she'd hoped and wasn't at all happy with what she was hearing.

"Everyone's freaking out because they can't get the product," she said. "And we're not producing it fast enough."

Jason explained to her that there wasn't sufficient demand during the early stages of production, and when demand peaked, they couldn't keep up.

Who knew Bethenny had such a connection to Nick the foodie? It seems like she wants him on the payroll, not just as a friend to eat burgers with during "accidental" meetings.

Jason has to "break him out of his shell?" She's right, they should just adopt the guy. He may have the hair and build of Seth Rogen, but he's not a fraction as annoying. In any case, Bethenny finds him ultra endearing. Is Max getting the smackdown next week? Waiting for that Skinnygirl dessert truck, any day now ...
