Does the Power of Veto Mess Up Daniele's Plans on 'Big Brother'? (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 3rd 2011 11:54PM
'Big Brother 13'When Daniele nominated Rachel and Brendon for eviction this week on 'Big Brother' (Wed., 8PM ET on CBS), her plan was to try to ensure one of them went home. Breaking up an established power couple that's been dominating in challenges and controlling the house since day one can't be a bad idea; especially when they'd outed her plan to backdoor Jeff and Jordan leaving her public enemy number one.

What she needed to do next was ensure that either she or one of her allies won Power of Veto so those nominations could stay the same. Unfortunately, that proved to be difficult and in a way confirmed that she was right to see the pair of them as huge threats in the game.

Pivotal HOH Result Leads to Game-Changing Nominations on 'Big Brother' (VIDEO)

Daniele Donate, 'Big Brother'After her plan to backdoor Jeff out of the 'Big Brother' (Fri., 8PM ET on CBS) house blew up in her face and saw her closest ally eliminated from the game, Daniele's back was against the wall. Probably more than anybody in the house, except maybe for Kalia, she needed to win that HOH competition. So, how did it turn out?

The first five contestants to fall off the wall had to choose a snowball from a nearby table. One of them contained $10,000, which means a nice consolation prize for coming in last. For the power couples, it was essential that they outlast the newbies, or at least Kalia and Daniele.

'Big Brother' Live Eviction, Head of Household Competition (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 29th 2011 2:33AM
Daniele Donato, 'Big Brother 13'Before we could get to the live eviction on 'Big Brother' (Thu., 9PM ET on CBS), we had to deal with the fallout of Daniele's master plan to eliminate Jeff coming out into the open.

Eventually, everyone got together for a house meeting to lay it all out there, which was great to see.

Sure, 'Big Brother' is all about closed-door meetings and collusion, but every once in a while it's nice to see a big screaming match so everyone can know where they stand. Unfortunately, though, it looks like Brendon and Rachel's scheming was revealed a bit, if people were paying attention.

Power of Veto, Did One 'Big Brother' Houseguest Play Their Cards Too Soon? (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 28th 2011 1:01AM
'Big Brother 13'Things are heating up inside the 'Big Brother' (Wed., 8PM ET on CBS) house, and we're not talking about the weather. That seems to be temperature-controlled -- lucky!

No, we're talking about some aggressive gameplay after Dominic and Adam were again put up for Eviction after the power couple of Brendon and Rachel again won the challenge. At this point, are these newbies even playing this game?

We want to call shenanigans on the Power of Veto competitions we've seen thus far. Until now Rachel and Jordan have had this power, and every time when they've gone to pick out the other couple to compete, they've drawn each other. Come on! How is that possible? Maybe it really is just crazy luck.

The Hoff Invades the 'Big Brother' House, Eviction Nominations Are In (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 25th 2011 1:10AM
David Hasselhoff, 'Big Brother 13'It was the start of a good week for the contestants in the 'Big Brother' (Sun., 8PM ET on NBC) house. With the announcement of a luxury competition, there would be no "haves" and "have-nots" for the week, which means decent sleeping accommodations and food for everyone.

In a shocking twist of logic that blew our minds away, Jordan put together the clues of a pair of opera binoculars and bars of soap to come up with David Hasselhoff as the mystery celebrity. Even with more clues, no one else was close, so she was treated to a sneak preview of 'Same Name' with three friends, hosted by The Hoff himself.

'Big Brother' Evicts Another, Crowns a New Head of Household (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 22nd 2011 2:30AM
Cassi, 'Big Brother 13'After Dominic saved his own skin in the Power of Veto competition, Jordan put up Cassi and Shelly for Eviction. This meant yet another newbie would definitely be going home on this week's 'Big Brother' (Thu., 8PM ET on CBS), making the Head of Household competition more critical than ever.

Jordan may not be happy with her decision to stand by her alliance with Rachel and Brendon, but she did, leaving Shelly and Cassi no choice but to fight for themselves. Cassi, however, decided to take the direct approach and talk to Rachel and Brendon about what happened between them.

'Big Brother': Rachel's Comments Lead to Cracks in the Veteran Alliance (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 21st 2011 1:14AM
Jeff Schroeder, 'Big Brother 13''Big Brother' (Wed., 8PM ET on CBS) lasts a long time, and it seems even longer from the inside. So it can be very difficult to hold together an alliance from the first week deep into the game. We saw that already with the newbie alliance crumbling before the first Eviction. Would the veterans face the same fate?

They're already down one player thanks to Evel Dick's sudden departure, and Daniele seems to be playing her own game. That leaves a power foursome in Jeff, Jordan, Rachel and Brendon. While they seem convinced they still need to stay strong to make it further into the competition, it really doesn't feel that way any more from the outside.

big brother"It's just strategic," a sunny Jordan said as she announced who she was putting on the chopping block on the latest episode of 'Big Brother' (Sun., 8PM on CBS).

Doing her best to stay in the game, and, of course, to protect Jeff, HOH Jordan went with her gut and put Adam and Dominic on the chopping block.

A Sudden Disappearance Leads to Chaos and Panic on 'Big Brother' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 14th 2011 1:47AM
'Big Brother'The veterans of 'Big Brother' (Wed., 8PM ET on CBS) were riding high and feeling good after Rachel became the first Head of Household, assuring safety for her and Brendan, and giving them the ability to nominate another couple for elimination.

Outnumbered eight-to-six, they nevertheless put their plan into motion, nominating Keith and Porsche. Even the addition of the Golden Key -- granting the non-eliminated, nominated partner immunity until ten houseguests remain -- did nothing to sway their swagger.

But one call to the Diary Room changed all that.

Today In TV Scandals: A 'Big Brother' Contestant's Homophobic 'Harry Potter' Rant, Tattoos & a '16 and Pregnant' Arrest

by Jean Bentley, posted Jul 13th 2011 2:45PM
Jeff, Big BrotherJ.K. Rowling's revelation wizened wizard/Harry Potter mentor Albus Dumbledore was actually gay rocked the 'Harry Potter' fandom when she announced the news ... four years ago.

So when 'Big Brother' contestant Jeff found out yesterday that the Hogwarts headmaster was gay, his shocked, homophobic reaction was surprising. Entertainment Weekly reports that the houseguest noted Dumbledore "doesn't have any gay tendencies" before exclaiming, "He's in school with little kids; you don't want to make that guy gay."

Jeff further dug himself into that giant crater of his by clarifying, "I don't think it's the right thing to have a kids' book, and to have the headmaster that's locked away in this magical land, to be gay. That isn't the right kind of writing to do." Oy.

According to Reality Blurred, this isn't Jeff's first time exhibiting homophobic behavior. During his first 'Big Brother' season, he used gay slurs when talking about some of his housemates.

The Regulators, 'Big Brother 13''Big Brother 13' (Sun., 10PM ET on CBS) settled into its Sunday time slot as the houseguests started aggressively plotting and scheming. With the addition of six all-stars, paired into three couples, there was an immediate divide in the house: veterans vs. newcomers.

Tonight, the six veterans started plotting how to take control of the game when they are technically outnumbered right now eight-to-six. However, as we saw in another challenge, the veterans' experience is helping them dominate early on.

'Big Brother 13' Kicks Off With Returnees, Coupling and Twists (VIDEO)

'Big Brother 13'The producers of 'Big Brother 13' (Thu., 9PM ET on CBS) definitely found a way to make these first few weeks of the season more compelling and interesting. And we're not even talking about the twist of returning houseguests to stir things up.

In fact, this 13th Season Premiere featured two twists that left the eight new players with eight jaws hanging on the ground. The first twist threw opening strategies out the window, and the second one threw elimination strategies out the window. Now no one really knows what to do.

Julie Chen Loses 'Big Brother' Competition Against Her 'Talk' Co-Hosts (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 7th 2011 6:30PM
Leah Remini and Julie Chen get the 'Big Brother' verdict on 'The Talk'Julie Chen brought her night job to her day job Thursday when she challenged her 'Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) co-hosts to a game of 'Big Brother,' played on the reality show's actual set. Unfortunately, her 'Big Brother' hosting experience didn't give Chen much of an edge in the Head of Household competition, or in convincing her co-hosts not to vote her off.

Chen wrung her hands maniacally when she introduced the segment, obviously thinking she would sail through. That's the kind of confidence that makes you a target on 'Big Brother.' Holly Robinson Peete was captured on camera saying, "If she wins Head of Household, it's going to be no fun in here."

Peete won it during a ridiculous competition that involved dressing like frogs and retrieving insects from a pond. She nominated Chen and Leah Remini for eviction.

'Big Brother' Is a Different Game In the U.S., Says Julie Chen (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 7th 2011 2:00PM
Julie Chen of 'Big Brother' on 'The Early Show''Big Brother' is an international phenomenon, with versions in the U.K., Germany, Spain, Sweden and Brazil, among other countries. But the American version is unique, according to host Julie Chen and executive producer Allison Grodner, who spoke about the show Thursday on 'The Early Show' (weekdays, 7AM on CBS). The voting is different, and surprisingly, the relationships between contestants have been more chaste.

When the U.S. version of the show started, it followed the pattern of having viewers vote weekly to evict contestants. That soon changed. "I found out that Americans, we don't like conflict," said Chen. "Americans voted out the most interesting players in the game." Grodner said they had to take the power of the vote away from the viewers to keep the show interesting, ultimately giving that power to the houseguests.
