Fergie sucks the life out of the Billboard Awards - VIDEO

by Anna Johns, posted Dec 6th 2006 1:32PM
fergieDid you watch the Billboard Awards on Monday night? Me neither. Thank goodness. There's a clip of Fergie performing her atrocious "Fergalicous" song with absolutely no energy whatsoever. After watching her lifeless performance of what should be a high energy song, I am convinced that she's nothing but eye candy. She can shake her ass and her boobs in the camera for music videos, but when it comes to stage presence, girl ain't got none. She walked out on the stage and stood there as dancers bounced and lights flashed all around her. The director couldn't even hide Fergie's performance with a bunch of zooming cameras. About two-thirds into her song, she seems to forget the words. I sure hope this chick's 15 minutes are up.

Now Paris has dropped out of the Billboard Awards

by Anna Johns, posted Dec 3rd 2006 9:46AM
paris hiltonParis Hilton has followed Britney Spears' lead by backing out of her hosting gig for Fox's Billboard Music Awards. Unlike Brit Brit, who didn't give a reason, Paris apparently quit the show because she didn't like the jokes that were written for her. She says that she didn't appreciate making jokes about people who are her friends. She couldn't come to an agreement with the producers about her scripts, so she quit.

This behavior pretty much goes along the lines of what Tina Fey told Howard Stern recently. She said that Paris takes herself way too seriously (oh, and she is stupid and sheds fake hair).

The hostless Billboard Music Awards air Monday on Fox at 8 pm. Musical guests include Janet Jackson, The Killers, Gwen Stefani, Fergie, Mary J. Blige, Nickelback, and Ludacris featuring Pharrell and Young Jeezy.

FCC lets a foul-mouthed ABC and CBS off the hook

by Julia Ward, posted Nov 7th 2006 3:43PM
Kevin J. MartinThe FCC has dismissed indecency charges against ABC's NYPD Blue and CBS' Early Show, but has upheld charges against - oh, delicious irony - Fox.

Back in April, the networks sued the FCC and asked an appeals court to invalidate the Commission's charges of indecency against NYPD, Early Show and Fox's broadcast of the Billboard Music Awards in 2002 and 2003 on the grounds that the charges were unconstitutional.

ABC got off easy. The NYPD Blue episodes that used the words "dickhead" and "bullshit" were let off the hook because they aired several years ago - before the FCC upped its fines 10x, post-Janet wardrobe malfunction.

Networks appeal FCC fines

by Anna Johns, posted Apr 15th 2006 2:09PM
fcc logoABC, NBC, CBS and FOX have all filed appeals to the FCC's fines for indecent language and subject matter in their programming. The biggest fine was against CBS's Without a Trace for a scene showing too much of a teen-age orgy (or maybe they didn't like the subject matter altogether?). For that, the FCC says CBS must pay an unprecedented $3.63 million. There were also fines against The Early Show on CBS for sucking - ha! just kidding - for profanity in 2004 when a Survivor castoff said "shit", and against The Billboard Music Awards on FOX for the same thing.

The networks are all appealing the fines on the grounds that the FCC's tough new stance on indecency is vague and inconsistent.
