'Saturday Night Live' Airs Controversial Tiger Woods Parody (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Dec 7th 2009 9:25AM
In what critics are describing as a supreme act of insensitivity, given that Rihanna was scheduled as musical guest, 'Saturday Night Live' parodied Tiger Woods' recent headline-making troubles with a sketch portraying him as the victim of domestic abuse at the hands of wife Elin Nordegren. In the sketch, which included Kenan Thompson as Woods and host Blake Lively as Nordegren, the wife of the pro-golfer strikes him with a golf club off-camera, and Woods appeals for help by holding a sign that read "Help me."
Rumors have been circulating that a domestic spat between Woods and his wife may have led up to his late-night crash into the tree of a neighbor's home on Nov. 27. Woods has denied such rumors.

Review: Saturday Night Live - Blake Lively/Rihanna
by Annie Wu, posted Dec 6th 2009 2:35PM

(S35E08) I will be perfectly honest: I was not at all looking forward to this episode. A few months ago, I had forced myself to watch two seasons of Gossip Girl for blogging purposes (okay, it was also an excuse to stare at their fantastic costuming), and I couldn't bring myself to continue. One of the reasons why I disliked the show so much was Serena, Blake Lively's character.
However, I'm happy to say I was pleasantly surprised by this episode. Lively was minimally awkward and brought great enthusiasm through the entire evening (though not an exhausting amount of zeal Joseph Gordon-Levitt style). I liked how it didn't seem Lively went on the show with a mission (apart from showing off her crazy legs); she didn't try to show off her musical side, cling to strictly "pretty girl" skits, or get controversial. She was just there, having a good time.
Also, for the most part, the writing was solid this week. Probably the most consistently funny installment in quite a while. Even the strange treatment of the Cold Open (with the Obama party crashers) was adorable.
Blake Lively on 'Saturday Night Live': Clip Highlights (VIDEO)

This week's episode of 'Saturday Night Live' featured Blake Lively as the guest host, with Rihanna as the musical guest. President Obama made a special appearance to talk about the economy, only to be interrupted by those pesky gatecrashers Tareq and Michaele Salahi.
Other hot topics included Tiger Woods, Rihanna and Shy Ronnie taking their message to the classroom, and 'Gossip Girl: Staten Island.' Here's a round-up of 'SNL' skits from last night.
Review: Gossip Girl - The Treasure of Serena Madre
by Isabelle Carreau, posted Dec 1st 2009 1:02AM

(S03E11) It's Thanksgiving time on the Upper East Side, and you know what that means? Loads of drama and awkward situations. This special episode also marks the return of a few of the show's mothers, including Jessica's mother, Blair's mother, and Lily's mother CeCe.
Sadly, due to a prior engagement, I will not be able to offer you a full review of the episode in due time. Please take a few minutes to post your reactions to the episodes in the comments section below. In my review of the December 7 episode, I'll post my comments about "The Treasure of Serena Madre" and may include a few of your own comments.
So don't be shy. Let the other TV Squad readers know what you thought of this week's episode. What did you think of all the mother drama? Was Jenny's revenge against Eric too much? How about the damaging info Chuck has on his friends? Share your reactions, theories, and comments below.
The last episode before the holiday break, "The Debarted," will air next week on December 7.
'Saturday Night Live' December Lineup: Blake Lively, Taylor Lautner, James Franco
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 30th 2009 10:45AM
The December slate of hosts is coming together for NBC's 'Saturday Night Live.' Joining the already announced Blake Lively ('Gossip Girl') and the ever-dependable James Franco will be cinema's sexiest werewolf, Taylor Lautner.According to Variety, Lautner is on board to host the Dec. 12 episode, with Bon Jovi as musical guest. The 'Twilight' co-star is currently riding the blockbuster success of 'New Moon,' as well as his shorter -- and much more appealing -- locks. Maybe they could bring Taylor Swift back for the 'Firelight' sequel trailer, with Lautner playing his own parody.

Blake Lively to Host 'Saturday Night Live'
by Gary Susman, posted Nov 25th 2009 10:55AM
Another new episode of 'Saturday Night Live,' another hot young starlet as host.NBC announced yesterday that 'Gossip Girl' star Blake Lively will host the Dec. 5 episode. Rihanna will be the musical guest.
The veteran sketch comedy series' 35th season has already featured several rising young hotties as hosts, with less than stellar results. Megan Fox, who hosted the season premiere, and January Jones, who hosted a couple weeks ago, were widely derided as unfunny and out of their element. Only Taylor Swift, who hosted and served as musical guest, seemed to click with the cast and viewers.
What You Missed Last Night: Thanksgiving with Jimmy Fallon and Blake Lively
by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 24th 2009 4:34PM
I had no idea that Gossip Girl's Blake Lively spent that last dozen or so Thanksgivings with Jimmy Fallon. In this clip, we see what happened on those days and why they're spending Thanksgiving apart this year.
I love the reaction of the audience at the start, sensing tension and humor but not really sure what' going on.

(S03E10) "Vanessa, you are in love with Dan." - Olivia
Last week's threesome scenes left a few viewers wanting more. This week, viewers were not only treated to more footage from the threesome scenes, but to a lot of drama caused by said Olivia-Dan-Vanessa threesome experiment. As expected, the threesome made Dan and Vanessa's feelings for one another resurface, even if they didn't clearly admit it or deny it.
The episode also featured a guest performance by singer Lady Gaga (pictured above in a behind the scenes photo with Penn Badgley and Leighton Meester).

(S03E09) "Nobody puts Jenny in a corner." - Gossip Girl
Even if this was Jenny's episode, the much talked about threesome scenes stole the show.
The Parents Television Council (PTC) tried to get the network not to air this week's episode of Gossip Girl due to the threesome scene it included. In a letter sent out to the network, the PTC claims The CW's decision to air the episode is "reckless and irresponsible." In the same letter, they mention that by airing this scene, the network is, in a way, letting young kids know that they should take part in such sexual behaviors.

(S03E08) "Bla
ir and Serena at war again? Yummy!" - Gossip GirlI disagree with Gossip Girl on this. Blair and Serena at war again? Same old. Same old. Once again, Blair and Serena are at odds while wanting to be friends. Can we move on?
I'm tired of Blair and Serena breaking up, making up, fighting, backstabbing one another, not understanding one another, etc. I hope the writers planned for the duo to not cross paths for a few episodes so we can get some quiet time before they fight some more and then make up.

(S03E07) "Time to get to work ruling the Kingdom." - JennyIt was only a matter of time before Jenny started acting like a real Queen Bee. Mind you, even after this week's events, Jenny is still nowhere near as evil as Blair was, but she is definitely not Little J anymore.
While Jenny ruled her kingdom, Chuck tried to do the same with the launch of his new club. He wanted to launch his club honestly and by himself. As expected, things didn't go as planned, but that doesn't mean he isn't happy with the end product, eh?

(S03E06) "What are friends for?" - Vanessa to Dan Thanks to Gossip Girl, Firefly's Gina Torres is back on TV! It was about time that this fantastic actress returned to the small screen. Torres plays Vanessa's mother, Gabriela, and is set to appear in a few episodes. This new character finally allowed the viewers to know more about Vanessa, who's been a background character/sidekick for the past seasons.
As it was posted here before, I wasn't able to watch the episode live but allowed you to post your comments in a temp post. Here we go with my review, which includes some of the comments you left.
Gossip Girl: Rufus Getting Married
by Isabelle Carreau, posted Oct 13th 2009 10:30AM

(S03E05) "Ah the Wedding March.... here comes the awkward pause." - Gossip Girl
As you can see from the picture above, Sonic Youth appeared on this very special episode of Gossip Girl, spoiled by the official episode title, and performed their 1986 single "Star Power."
As expected, Rufus and Lily hit a few bumps in the road before making the episode title come true. The episode also featured the return of Georgina, Scott, and Bree, which equals to blackmail, lies and drama. Three words that work very well in the world of Gossip Girl.
Gossip Girl: Dan De Fleurette

(S03E04) "How can I rule over people I don't understand?" - BlairThe main storyline this week on Gossip Girl may have been the introduction of Hilary Duff's character Olivia "Kate" Burke, a movie star who comes to NYU in the hopes to get a normal college experience, but I much preferred Blair's storyline.
Blair is still at the bottom of the food chain at NYU and doesn't know how to get Queen B status amongst people she doesn't know. Thanks to Blair spiraling down to Constance to bring order back, and to a very clever plan mastered by Chuck to bring his girlfriend back to reality, we were treated to interesting scenes, including one that had Dorotea speaking her mind to Blair!
Gossip Girl: The Lost Boys

(S03E03) "Please tell me it was Blair and not Georgina." - Vanessa and Serena in unison to Dan
Dan may be on a new path since he arrived at NYU, but he hasn't changed enough to be Blair-worthy. Funny that both girls hoped that he slept with Blair and not Georgina. I get that they prefer Blair over Georgina even if both can be rather evil, but Dan and Blair will happen when pigs fly. Now I have to try to remove that mental picture of Blair and Dan making out from my brain!
In any case, this week's episode of Gossip Girl continued the Dan and Georgina hooking up storyline, put Chuck and Blair at odds, and put Carter and Serena at odds, while having Scott make some true and false revelations.
