Bobby Flay Almost Takes Ari Outside to Fight on 'Entourage' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 15th 2011 7:26AM
Bobby Flay, 'Entourage'Ari Gold doesn't specialize in calmly enjoying what he's got. An essential part of his character is that he's always striving to close another deal, make more money or exact revenge against someone who's wronged him. On the latest 'Entourage' (Sun., 10PM ET on HBO), he hooked up with the beautiful Constance Zimmer, playing his old flame and rival Dana Gordon, but wasn't satisfied with that, and felt compelled to rub it in his wife and her new man Bobby Flay's faces.

Ari took Gordon to Bobby Flay's restaurant in the hopes that Flay would see him with his new lady, and maybe go home and tell Ari's ex-wife about it, hoping it would make her jealous.

Flay knew exactly what was going on, and Dana was no fool either. We'd say that we would hope Ari could find some genuine joy and happiness in his life by the close of the series run, but at the same time it seems appropriate to have him yelling and losing his mind over something ridiculous in the last moments we see him.

Who Emerges Victorious as the Next 'Food Network Star'? (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 15th 2011 7:14AM
'Food Network Star' finaleGoing into tonight's finale, it was Susie Jiminez, Jeff Mauro and Vic Moea vying to be the next 'Food Network Star' (Sun., 9PM ET on Food). As part of the finale, the top two finalists would actually film the pilots for their proposed new shows on Food Network.

!!SPOILER ALERT!!

First, there was a camera challenge that had them preparing their favorite dishes and presenting them. It was after this round that Vic was eliminated, leaving Susie and Jeff to film their pilots and convince the Food Network they could be the next big thing.

To help in the decision-making process, all the eliminated contestants came back to serve as a focus group for the pilots as well. Susie offered up an installment of her modern Mexican dream show 'Spice It Up,' while Jeff stuck with his passion and 'Sandwich King.'

Bobby Flay Talks About His 'Entourage' Affair, Cooks Peach Relish on 'Today' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 11th 2011 2:45PM
Bobby Flay talks about his 'Entourage' role on 'Today'Bobby Flay showed some versatility on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), discussing his acting role on 'Entourage' while he was cooking up a nice peach relish with Matt Lauer. Flay seemed a little nervous while describing the 'Entourage' appearance, in which he plays "Bobby Flay," a celebrity chef dating Ari Gold's wife while the couple is separated.

"I'm playing a fictional version of Bobby Flay," he said, "because in the show, there's a restaurant called Flay's In L.A., which doesn't exist. And I'm also single on the show, but ..." "Having an affair with Ari's wife," interjected Lauer. Flay was quick to point out that he is married in real life, and that the role was "kind of weird." It caused no trouble at home, though. "It's going fine, actually," he said, "because the actress who plays Mrs. Ari, Perrey Reeves, and my wife are very good friends."

Ari Flips Out After Learning His Wife's Dating Bobby Flay on 'Entourage' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 1st 2011 6:44AM
'Entourage' - 'Out With a Bang'An angry Ari can be a very dangerous thing on 'Entourage' (Sun., 10:30PM ET on HBO). Just ask the poor waiter who got in his crosshairs for ... well, for doing nothing as it turns out. Ari only thought he was the mystery guy his wife is dating. For that, Ari ruined his 'Mad Men' audition.

Later, he found out the reason she was going to that restaurant -- one that he loves -- is because she's dating it's owner, one Bobby Flay. Small consolation for the waiter, but Ari's got bigger fish to fry now.

On the one hand, it's great that he doesn't have to be humiliated because she's dating someone as lowly as a waiter, but on the other hand it's his duty (for some reason) to despise whomever she dates. And because he cannot calm down and be mature about it, he instead informs his staff that as Bobby Flay is now his enemy number one, he must also be their enemy number one.

The Final Five Face a Panel of Comedians on 'Food Network Star' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 1st 2011 4:11AM
Aubrey Plaza, 'Food Network Star'To make it into the final four, the remaining contestants had to make it through a comedy round on 'Food Network Star' (Sun., 9PM ET on Food). They didn't have to tell jokes, even though that's what Jeff used to do for a living. He even gave the celebrity comedians a sampling of his comedy stylings.

"I would give you a cooking show just to make sure you never did stand-up again," Gilbert Gottfried told him after a joke fell very flat with the panel.

Even though his comedy didn't go over well, they did like his Italian roast beef sandwich, and his presence. When asked if they'd watch a cooking show about sandwiches, Louie Anderson said, "I'd watch him."

Bobby Flay Talks About Dating Mrs. Ari on 'Entourage' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Jul 26th 2011 12:15PM
Celebrity chef Bobby Flay was sitting in for Hoda Kotb on Tuesday, co-hosting the fourth hour of 'Today' (weekdays, 7 AM ET on NBC) with Kathie Lee Gifford. He'll also be sitting in for Ari Gold, at least with with Mrs. Ari, on the new season of 'Entourage.' Flay previewed his multi-episode arc in the final season of HBO's hit half-hour Hollywood comedy, which will put him at odds with the frenetic agent Ari Gold, played by Jeremy Piven.

"My character, as Bobby Flay, has not actually appeared yet ... I can not confirm nor deny that I am a candidate for Mrs. Ari's next boyfriend. 'Cause you know they broke up."

"I don't know why she stuck around so long," replied Kathie Lee.

"Well, who knows, he's got a big agency," Flay quipped.

Penny Gets a Scolding But Stays in the Competition on 'Food Network Star' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 11th 2011 6:30PM
'The Next Food Network Star'Penny blew up at her competitor Mary Beth on 'Food Network Star' (Sundays, 9PM on Food Network) Sunday night, and the judges took note. She was scolded in front of the rest of the contestants, but luckily for her, she makes a mean filet mignon kebab and Greek salad wrap, which eventually saved her.

"You know, Penny, if we had to pick one person who has the most animosity towards them, it has to be you," said judge Bobby Flay. Fellow judge Giada De Laurentiis was similarly umimpressed with Penny's attitude, but loved her food. "We are a Food Network family -- you have to get along with people behind the scenes," she said. She also said her wrap was "the best on the truck."

Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis Discuss 'Next Food Network Star' Over Cupcakes (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 2nd 2011 3:10PM
Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis on 'The View'The panel on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) tried to do a little talking with their mouths full today when Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis dropped by with plates of cupcakes. The pair were there to talk about food, and more specifically, 'The Next Food Network Star,' on which they both judge.

Over De Laurentiis's mac and cheese cupcakes and Flay's gingerbread cupcakes, they talked about what makes a good Food Network personality. "They need to do two really basic things," said Flay, "and it sounds easy but it's really hard. They need to be able to cook and talk to the camera at the same time."

Flay said the contestants may have learned what's coming from watching previous seasons of 'Star,' but once they actually get in front of the camera and have to produce, it's a whole new layer of pressure.

Bobby Flay Hits the Grill, Previews 'Barbecue Addiction' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted May 31st 2011 6:30PM
Matt Lauer and Bobby Flay on 'Today'Summer grilling season is in full swing, and chef Bobby Flay will celebrate that with the premiere of his new show, 'Bobby Flay's Barbecue Addiction,' this Sunday on The Food Network. Flay was on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) showing off his skills with some nice, thick steaks with Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, and Al Roker.

Flay grilled Bobby Flay's Summer Rib-Eye and explained a little bit about the new show. "On 'Barbecue Addiction,' every show is ... we go to a place," said Flay. "It could be someplace globally, internationally, but in this case, we're talking about Northern California."

What makes it a Northern California steak? According to Flay, a generous helping of goat cheese, some red wine vinaigrette, blue cheese, and figs, washed down with red wine sangria. Looks delicious.

Rating 10 TV Chefs: Who Would You Want Teaching You How to Cook?

by Allison Waldman, posted Jul 27th 2010 7:00PM
gordon_ramsay_masterchef_foxIf you're a bit of a foodie, you probably watch a lot of TV chefs. There are a bunch of them, all over the dial, sharing their knowledge of food and how to prepare dishes -- whether it's a bowl of chili or a beef Wellington. Tonight, for example, Fox's resident chef Gordon Ramsay will be launching a new cooking show called 'MasterChef.' (Not to be confused with 'Top Chef.')

'MasterChef' (9PM ET, Fox) is based on the Australian version of the show -- not the BBC model -- in which a large group of hopefuls from across the country audition with their best dish, and if they pass the judges, they move on to the semi-finals.

But have you ever thought about which of the celebrity cooks and chefs on television you'd want to teach you? We took 10 popular TV chefs and rated their teaching abilities from 1-10 -- 10 being the best possible teacher, 1 being the worst. Let us know if you agree with our ratings ...

Five Burning Questions About the Food Network

by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 5th 2010 2:08PM
ina_garten_the_barefoot_contessa_food_network
Whether it's 'The Barefoot Contessa' or 'Tyler's Ultimate,' there's a wide variety of food, cooking, chefs and experts on The Food Network. For the most part, the diversity is great and if you're a food fan -- a foodie -- you can watch FN for hours on end and be entertained. However, if you do watch for more than a few hours, especially the 'in the kitchen' programming which is all about creating dishes, there are some things that stand out -- five burning questions about the Food Network.

1. What's with the hygiene?
On nearly every cooking show, the food preparers -- whether they're an American Iron Chef like Bobby Flay or a restaurant owner/home cook like Paula Deen -- are obsessive about washing their hands. Any time they touch meat or chicken, there's a camera following them to the sink to wash hands with soap.

NBC Adds Bobby Flay to Its Menu

by Kim Potts, posted Mar 15th 2010 9:30AM
Bobby Flay is putting his money where he hopes America's mouth will be.

The restaurateur, cookbook author and Food Network chef has joined the cast of NBC's upcoming reality series 'America's Next Great Restaurant,' in which Flay and a panel of his fellow chefs and business giants will help launch a new restaurant chain dreamed up by one of the show's contestants.

Not only will Flay and his panel select the winning idea, they'll also use their own money to become investors in the new eatery chain.

Contestants needn't be chefs, or have any cooking experience at all, really. Instead, those whose initial ideas impress the judges will then be put through a series of challenges that will test their business savvy, including how well they can manage a staff, how marketable their idea is and how crafty they are in creating a menu.
